25AED per month however if stopped by the police AED 400 fine And confiscation of your car for one week if caught by Police. This happened to us. Our Jeep was a bit over the deadline due to work being delayed at the garage and this needed to be done for it to pass the registration tests. I had pulled into a garage to get petrol and a Police car was there and they happened to check the licence plate with their computer and realised we were overdue. They waited until I pulled out onto the road and they pulled me. 400aed fine and car impounded for one week! Get it done ASAP.

It's an assumption to say most users of Botox lead a healthy, balanced lifestyle as you do. What is wrong with a good skin care routine ;-) I'd rather invest in a good quality skin care product that have a deadly poison injected into my face, but that's my opinion. To inject a poison, and one of the most deadly forms of poison just to smooth a few wrinkles, then they will be risks. Lets face it, most of these places that offer this service for purely cosmetic reasons are only thinking of the money they can make. Afterall, why wouldn't they make sure you are fully aware of the risks before gong ahead with the procedure? Worried the true side effects may put people off? Sure, many, many thousands have had this and most won't suffer any side effects, but a small percentage will and considering the numbers that are having this done, the amount of people suffering from the side effects will be higher. I've just googled health risks with having Botox, and it has described a lot of the side affects the OP suffered and doctors still don't know what the long term damage is for regular users.

Does anyone know any details of the fireworks at the Creek tonight? I thought they were only on for Eid. The Global Village is open and they have fireworks every evening (I think). I'm assuming the next firework display on the Creek will be for National Day.

Sorry you have suffered from the side effects. However, if someone is going to have toxins injected into their body, there is always going to be side effects. It's basic common sense TBH. It's the same with breast implants, some have caused serious side effects from leakages etc.. With regard to having Botox, are the side effects you list and have suffered made clear to the person before having the procedure?

My DS is in FS1 at this nursery and I'm extremely happy with them. DS is thriving there and we have really noticed a difference with him with what he has learnt and his interaction over he last few months. It is a small nursery, however, they have all the facilities at the FF club to use. All the teachers are very friendly and kind. I'd highly recommend them!

We spent a week in Suffolk (England) over the summer, near the little village of Framlingham. We hired a cottage on the grounds of Easton Farm Park, so the kids had a great time and we didn't have to go out anywhere if we chose not to. There was a bus service that went from there to the various villages and into Ipswich. But having a car was easier TBH. http://www.eastonfarmpark.co.uk/accommodation The cottages were lovely and the park didn't open until 10am, so the kids had the park and animals to themselves first thing in the morning and after 5pm. It's only a small place, so never got manic busy. I would highly recommend this! Plus the countryside is lovely and the coast is a short trip away. London is only an hour or so by train too. edited by Zannie on 16/10/2012

I did feel with my DD (as she is the eldest), 5 days seemed a lot, however, she was only there until 12pm. Considering it was her first introduction to nursery, I was very worried, so totally understand your concerns. I only wanted her to do a max of three days a week, but that wasn't an option. But, she really enjoyed it. Obviously, each child is unique and will react differently, but in my experience with both my children, it was the best decision. Plus, they sleep very well at the end of the day! :) My son, who is currently in FS1 (started this term) is doing really well. He comes home really proud of his artwork and loves to sing me songs he has learnt. He's made friends and enjoys going into nursery each morning. I would suggest to go and have a good look around your chosen nurseries and speak to the manager/teachers there. My son goes to Jebel Ali Village Nursery, so can really recommend them.

Noticed in Spinneys etc the Pumpkins are nearing on 20-30AED per kilo. so expect to pay a small fortune for one. Agree, look out for the local ones, especially at the veg market and Co-op.

Have either of your children been in a nursery setting before? Personally, I feel it's a good idea to enrol them into a school/nursery for FS1. My DS is 3 and currently at nursery in FS1, and he loves it. He is becoming more independent and thoroughly enjoys going to spend time with his little friends. He enjoys learning (thru play) and this is giving him a good start for his future. When my daughter started nursery (started at FS1), I was worried it would be too much for a little one so young, but it really was the best decision I made. She loved it too and settled very well into 'big school' this term with no worries. I understand FS1 and 2 is not compulsory here, but when schools conduct their assessments, they may see this as a disadvantage to the child if they haven't completed these early years. Children pick up the majority of their learning at this crucial time and as much as I'm against teaching them too much too young, they will benefit from this.

Sounds wrong that a school is not open to allow the child to drop to FS2, it they are struggling. I would serious reconsider moving to another school or approaching this school again and asking them to look at the situation again. Maybe the school can offer help, such as 121 tutoring within the class to help him. This may make a big difference. Personally, if the school still refuses, move and maybe contact the KHDA for advise.

If you send her home, she'll be back in a few months fleecing another unsuspecting family. I would report her. She could have been stealing from you for years. I would hold here salary in repayment towards the phonebill. No idea what would happen, but guessing she may get a prison sentence.

What!!! if that's correct info they're given you then they're insane as everyone will just do what we're going to and buy from AED 3000 from the UK or elsewhere... 7000 as a starting price is disgraceful and a great example of why Dubai is nowhere close to being a shopping hub anymore. Almost certainly that's going to be the price for grey imports, not the official ones. If you want to walk into a shop in Dubai and walk out with an iPhone 5 before they are officially available here, then you have to pay through the nose for it!

What doesn't make sense is why the driver of the car thar hit the man was in the fast lane? Surely, being a pretty straight road, this driver would have had time to see this car and slow down and change lanes. Being a Friday, I can't imagine the road to be too busy. It's a tragic situation, but it sounds to me that the driver of the 4x4 was driving without care and attention. Not saying the other man wasn't at fault being parked where he was fixing his tyre. As mentioned common sense would tell you stopping there is a stupid place to be. He could have driven his car to the main hard shoulder on the right side of the road, or even off the road into a much safer area. Obviously, that's just my opinion from the way the article is written. It maybe a very different story.

Reviving an old thread. Can anyone recommend the stall number that sells berries, strawberries etc as mentioned. Or any other stall holders? Have been to the market several times, but not regularly, which I want to do. I seem to wander and buy ramdomly, so would prefer some recommendations so I can go with a trader that I can trust for good produce as well as cut down the time I'm there.

This happened to a friend of mine. Contact the management agency and tell them one of you will be in their office on xxx at xxx and will expect to collect the cheques. Inform them if they do not have them, you will go to the police to register a complaint. This should work. However, if you turn up and they are still making excuses, go to the police with all the paperwork to prove all amounts are settled and these cheques are being witheld. They will give you authorisation letter for your bank to cancel the cheques and they may contact the company too.

Speak to Prodent; http://www.prodent.ae/mobile-paint-repair 050 6593368 Have used them several times for dings and scraps to both our cars. They are mobile, however, they also have a workshop in Al Quoz by Time Square. They will probably ask you to take a picture and email them it so they can get an idea of the damage and assess if they can do. I highly recommend them, and let them know Suzanne recommended them to you.

Prodent won't need a insurance/police form to fix the repair. Agree with Brigida, not worth going through insurance. If a smallish dent, then will easily only cosy a few hundred dirhams. Best to take a photo of the damage and email it to them, they'll be able to tell you if they can do. Will save time on both sides this way.

Give Prodent a call. Details here; http://www.prodent.ae/ We've used them several times and they come out to you. Obviously depends on the damage and where it is, but they can help with most dings and stratches. Very reasonable too. The quicker you get it fixed the better as the metal stretches over time, so will be harder and more expensive to fix. Highly recommend them. Tell them Suzanne gave you their details.

There are lots of shops, phamacies, health clinics, takeaway places and restaurants and most will deliver. However, only at the SZR end of DG. Also, if no car, there is a bus service that does a drop off to Ibn Battuta mall and the shops in DG. Plus taxis are plentiful too. A lot depends on what cluster you are in, if in the Zen cluster, then Shelders will be very close to the shops etc, so will easily be able to walk there. We find the area very convenient, downside is we require transport, but it seems quite a lot of areas in Dubai are similar. We lived in Springs 15 before, and the community areas were quite a long walk away, so needed a car in most cases.

We've lived here for four years and just about to sign for our fifth. We really like it here, unfortunately, not many facilities available yet, but you're. Five minute drive or bus ride from Ibn Battuta mall an the metro station. Is a pain not having swimming pools ready, they are all completed, but no sign of opening yet (ongoing saga with the developer). It's quiet, green and a really nice neighbourhood. Lots of families from different backgrounds, western, Asian, Arab. Do you know what building number you are in? We are in the contemporary cluster, but I would avoid th Mediterraen clusters, only because sections of them have been poorly maintained.

Got a SMS earlier tonight that my credit card was used for a (fraudulent) transaction of GBP 600 in the UK, while I am here in Dubai. I immediately called my bank H**C and cancelled my credit card, as well as filled & sent a form to contest the transaction. Does anyone know whether I will have to pay this amount I am contesting or generally what happens after I cancelled the card and filled the forms? TIA No, we've had this happen a few times with our HSBC card, and they have been brilliant. They usually credit the card within a couple of weeks. When at the bank after this happening to us, the manager told me he blacks out the Security Number on the back of he card. He said you'll obviously need to make a note of it if you want to buy anything online, however, using the card in shops, restaurants etc, they don't need the number and where most opportunity is for staff to copy the card. Without the security number, any opportunists will find it hard to clone the card. Also, most fraudulent transactions start with a very small amount to 'test' the card. We had one transaction for $1 followed with another for $1400 within seconds. We had a text, but HSBC rung us immediately to check it was us or a fraudulent transaction. Luckily on this occasion they were able to stop the transaction in process and cancelled our cards. They're very on the ball!

Sorry to hijack this thread but Zannie...do you mind sharing any tips on how you got the TA job without prior experience. It might be something that I would be interested in doing once my DD starts nursery. Thanks. I'm guessing being already a mum to a 5 & 3 year old and my personality. Also, I've been wanting to train to be a nursery/foundation teacher for a long time and now finally had the opportunity offered. I'm also on the EYFS Cache 2 course which I think is compulsory for all TA's to do from September. So as long as you are willing to go on the course, then there shouldn't be any problem getting a TA position without professional experience.

Depends if you want to work in a school or nursery? I'm a TA in a nursery. My hrs are 7.45am to 1.15pm with a short break. This suits me perfectly and I love my job. Don't need to do any extra time, but occasionally look out for ideas and my use a bit of spare time if there is a project I want to prepare for the children to do. The only extra time at the nursery, which is optional is working the Summer/Easter Camps the nursery offer and we get paid extra for this. I had no previous experience of working with children apart from being a mum to two nursery age children. However, I'm now studying the Cache Level 2 course that will enable me to work anywhere here or in the UK as a qualified TA.
