Thanks everyone for your kind words. I wanted to post about it this morning because noone should experience what I did. Normally I would be the first one shouting and complaining if I wasn't being treated well, my husband too, but I think both of us were in just so much shock at her attitude and also just very concerned about the baby and if we were in premature labour. I am however feeling better today. I have been exceptionally lucky throughout the whole pregnancy and have been very active. It seems my belly has just ballooned over the past 10-15 days and I finally feel and look very pregnant, so I am putting the pains and crampiness down to that and hope now that everything goes according to plan my final 3 weeks! I really hope though, that the doctor in question gets reprimanded for her behaviour.

I am currently 37 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing severe pains for 2 days. Just to be sure about things, I headed to Al Wasl to get checked over. I was eventually seen by the doctor (the Emergency unit was empty and we were made to sit while other patients were given preference). I am registered with Al Wasl, but not for the birth. The Doctor was so rude to me and asked me why I was there - my own Doctor was not available at that hour on a Saturday, sorry! She told me that we don't care for non-locals!! My husband was quick to inform her that he is in fact a local Emirati and that she had to see me. Incidently, several Indian couples were seen and a Jordanian couple - local Emirati's???? She was rude when speaking to me, told me that even if I was in labour she would refuse to admit me, then proceeded with a scan, the most painful one I have experienced to date! I have had scans with several doctors now and none of them have had any need to push the scanner into my stomach so hard as to make me jump and shout out in pain. The worst was yet to come as she wanted to do an internal to check if I was in labour. I explained it was the first time for me and was a bit apprehensive - not her problem she said, had to be done! It was agony - friends have since told me that yes, it is uncomfortable and not very pleasant, but not exceptionally painful. To be brutally honest, she used too much force, had me crying in pain and then sent me on my way telling me that I was not in labour! I spent the car journey home in tears and went straight to the shower when I got home as I truthfully felt violated by her. I am going to send a formal letter of complaint to Al Wasl as no woman should be made to feel this way, particularly when she is already apprehensive about the pain she is in and worried about her unborn child! Rant over! I just felt I had to share this experience!

The new place in Green Community is called Urban Tails. http://www.urbantailsdubai.com/ It has only just opened and the owner is a true animal lover. I will be checking it out for my 5 when we go away to Ireland in the summer for 2 weeks. The kennel bill will end up about the same as our hotel bill!! At Christmas we used Pet Palace close to MoE. http://www.petpalace.ae/index.php/home 4 dogs and 1 cat came home happy and well fed, so I would use them again.

Hi ladies! I had posted on the original May 2011 thread, I'm due on the 14th of May, with our first. We have finally managed to decide which hospital to give birth in - Al Wasl, but husband is yet to get off his *rse and get us registered!! Starting to read up on so much and instead of feeling more reassured, still feeling totally clueless!! On a more positive note, baby kicking away and causing much fun at night time and the doc is very pleased with how things are progressing!

So I just got back from our tour of Al Wasl and we are def going there! The Practice Development Midwife showed us around, answered all questions and put our minds at rest about my husband being with me as much as I can stand to see his face!!! They seem very keen to promote natural birth with as little intervention as possible and the baby stays with you all the time. All we have to do now is get our ar*es in gear and get my health card and register. 27 weeks gone this weekend and I think my Dad was about to blow a gasket cos we hadn't made up our minds about a hospital!!

I have....once! I had full head highlights, cut and blow dry. It was awful to be honest! The cut was fine and the blowdry, but I would not recommend them for colour, then again, maybe that was just my experience. I go to Sisters in Dubai Mall now, a bit more expensive, but well worth every penny!

I'll certainly keep an eye out for him too. We keep a constant supply of food in our garage for the street cats, so if he is around District 7, at the very least he will have food to eat! Hope he comes home soon. xx

If you do a search on here you will get some good info. I know Medcare had good reports and then when I did a search here, there was a lot of negative feedback! Zuleikha has also had good reports. Its very hard to know where is the best place to go to. Speaking with people who have been here for years, they keep pointing me towards Al Wasl. So I am none the wiser really!! Been in contact with Al Wasl again this morning, so hopefully will be getting the tour next week. At this rate, I will be giving birth at home!! :)

Finally got the number! The company we use is called Alfehadi, 050 467 0043. They also did the connection for us and will deliver here no problem. The connection cost 500 dhs and that included a medium cylinder of gas, refills are around 115 dhs. Even if the security tries to stop any company that you want to work for you, they have no rights to do so!! They are not the police and therefore have no rights. On another note, the police in Dubai have stated that you can complain to the RTA about the mess ups in the roads near to Districts 7 and 8 and you are fully within your rights to remove the bollards and barriers. Nakheel cannot fine you or cause any problems for you whatsoever as they have no authority to do so. This information comes from reliable sources!

Ladies....calm down! I am also in JVT and we are connected some other way. As soon as my husband gets home from work I will get you the number of the company who supply us and the number of the guy who fitted the connection! Give me a few hours and hopefully I will have the answer to your problems!

Apricot, you seem to be happy with Al Wasl. I am just terrified to be honest of being left on my own if my husband is not allowed in!

Hi Musarath! Been offline for ever and just catching up again now! We are 25 weeks today and I said to my husband this morning that something has to be decided ASAP!!! We are still seeing Dr Jamini at Welcare, but to be honest I really don't want to deliver there. We are going to arrange a tour of Al Wasl this week and see what we think. My husband is Emirati, so I don't know to be honest if we can work that to our advantage at all with Al Wasl and the room situation! I really don't want to be left on my own or with his mum!!! All I know is that to my knowledge, we need to have a final decision by week 28 - thats 3 weeks away!!!!
