DWCF and the Embassy cannot help you at all. The police will let you leave home, but not kick him out as the tenancy is in his name. They will side with you to go to court if he has been physical but you must open a case against him and show physical bruises etc. The Family Affairs court can help a lot by opening a case against him and making him sign a 'good behaviour/intention order'. This ensures if he does it again he is in big trouble. Should you wish to divorce him here, the court are on your side. Good luck. Xx

Try Desert Palm Riding School. Accommodation and flights are usually provided by the employer. Salaries for instructors, like everywhere aren't amazing but at least you get to teach in nice weather and get the summer off.

Thanks! It is reassuring to know that I am not alone! I will try to change the nap time, but again it is difficult to get her to sleep when she doesn't want to. Here's hoping! :)

You should always call the agency if you are not happy. This morning I had an agency maid come for 4 hours and she was gone after 20 minutes!! I have dogs and specifically request a maid that is not scared of dogs. This one came in and stood by the door facing the wall and refused to move! She then called the agency, who called me and said that the maid was screaming, was hysterical and that the dogs had follwed her up the stairs into the bedroom and wouldn't leave her alone! All this when she was standing at the front door, speaking on the phone in front of me!!!! I mean, seriously! The agency can send another maid, but not until next week!!! Agggrh!! Rant over!

Personally I chose the Btec route as it was continuous assessment, so the final result was not just dependant on your exam. This way, I was able to Distinction my course and get a good final grade. I went on to study Business Management with Equine, others studied Nutrition, Education and other subjects. I did this back in 1995, so as I said, the course detail may have changed somewhat. Mine was a National Diploma, rather than a National Certificate which is a lesser certificate. I hope this helps.

Unless things have changed, mine was worth the same as A-Levels and people from my course went on to study a whole host of subjects at Uni, not just business and were accepted to good Uni's.

I suffer from chronic back pain, have degenerative disc syndrome and a host of other issues. Personally, I never go near doctors! Try Bowen Therapy, it is working wonders for me at the moment and doesn't cost a fortune!

Thanks Simpleasabc. JVC is Jumeirah Village Circle. My DH was saying that when area's have cooling systems and supply water from that, such as the Palm or Discovery Gardens, the electric and water is paid directly to the developer. We use very little water and our bills are not high, so we would most likely end up paying a lot more in that case.

My parents live in Aqaba and I lived in Amman for a couple of years so I know the hotels quite well. The best in Aqaba is the Intercontinental. I have stayed at the Movenpick and it was nice, but the service was average. The Intercon was by and far our best hotel stay. Just don't expect great food in Aqaba or Petra! The Movenpick in town would be the best for food though. Check out Bait Ali at Wadi Rum if you want a pleasant nights stay in the desert.

I live in JVT and normally take the Green Community roundabout, but I cut 15 minutes off my journey yesterday with the new road! Yes you can go onto the Al Khail Road in both directions from the bridge on Hessa Street. I went straight over the bridge (the flyover of Al Khail Road), took a left at the first set of traffic lights, straight over 2 roundabouts, right at the junction (you can only turn left or right) and that takes you to the Motor City intersection where you can go onto Emirates Road heading for Sharjah or Abu Dhabi, go into Motor City, go straight on to Arabian Ranches or Al Qudra. I was so pleased to cut that time as the GC roundabout can be a nightmare and the drivers are crazy at times!

We took our DD to Favourite Things in Marina Mall. She got a certificate and a little pouch with a lock of her hair in it too to remember her first haircut! We got her hair cut at 40 days and the lady was great with her. Did they do it with a blade razor? I was told that it's supposed to be done with it only. Silly I know, but can't help it. No, just with an electric razor. My DH was supposed to be the one to do it with a normal blade razor, but chickened out! He decided in the end not do it at all, so I made the decision for him and took DD to the salon. He held her and that was that. Her hair was starting to get patchy anyway, so it was a better decision in the long run. Now all that dark hair has gone and she is growing lovely light brown hair.

DARC urgently need adult volunteers willing to help out with school groups coming to the centre. Unfortunately, they are turning schools away as they don't have enough people to pitch in and teach the kids about the centre, their rescues and some basic animal welfare. If you are interested in lending a helping hand to a worthy cause, please get in touch via their FB page, [email protected] or call 050-8587844. Thanks! :)

Urban Tails is by far the best kennels in town in my opinion and have a collect and drop service. DKC (Dubai Kennels and Cattery are close to Garhoud, but I found the kennels themselves to be very small and dark. They also don't allow you to pick up on a Friday.

Urban Tails! I have tried a few and this is by far the best kennels in the UAE now. Luxury for your baby springer, with guaranteed cuddles. All of my dogs stay there, I have 4, which is very expensive when you go away for any length of time, but well worth it. I never have to worry now, any other kennels and I was calling every day to check on them! They have a website or you can find them on Facebook.

I have had a look on the website and am not sure if when renewing your British passport because of change of married name, do you need to provide your original marriage certificate? I am sure you do, but I don't want to send something off to Dusseldorf that may never return! TIA

There is only one place I will take my cat and dogs to now and that is Urban Tails. Staff and facilities are excellent. My babies have stayed in several places in Dubai before and the care they have received in Urban Tails far outweighs anywhere else.

I'm glad you have asked this Shjbelle. My DD sleeps from 11.30pm each night to anywhere between 7 and 9am. She is fit and healthy and has slept like this since about week 2 (She is now 8 and a half weeks). I often wondered if she was sleeping too much!

My DD is 7 and a half weeks now and she had the same problem. We gave her some medication twice a day to help ease the gas, which it did, but we also gave her an enema for 4 days in a row. Babies this age don't always have muscles that are developed enough to push, so sometimes they need a bit of help. Now she is pooing perfectly well, after a bit of training with the aid of the enema! We have a much happier baby too because her tummy isn't hurting anymore.

We have 4 rescue dogs and a rescue cat in the house, as well as a 6 week old baby (not rescued - homemade)! The lovely dog we found is trying to kill my cat, therefore, no matter what, we cannot keep the dog. We will try to find the owner by whatever means possible. In this case, I am sure that the dog has just escaped from his garden as he is well mannered and well trained, not to mention, exceptionally well fed!!

Thanks, Kiwispiers. It seems the last 2 days I have been producing more. I usually get 150ml in the morning and 50 - 75ml thereafter for the rest of the day. So it seems that I am producing the right amounts according to others here. You just don't know when it's your first, do you? As far as topping up with formula, my midwife at the hospital told me that it is perfectly acceptable to do so, no point in having an unhappy baby who is hungry all the time! As long as she is getting the majority breast milk, then all is fine!

Moonbeam, yep, as soon as I saw that the pump worked I had enough! Told my freakish husband to gets his kicks somewhere else and went and got ready for my night out!! :) Don't know if it had a contributing factor, but our friends and I had laughed more in the weeks prior to delivery than I have done in a long time, hurt like **** after a while, but keep the spirits up! I keep joking that if I didn't stop laughing I was going to laugh the baby out!

I have a suggestion......I went into labour 2.5 weeks early last week. We had finished our shopping for the baby that afternoon and we bought a breast pump. DH, being as he is insisted on trying it out.......on himself first!!!!! Then on me! 7 hours later....on our way to the hospital! The midwives laughed their a**es off and told the world as they are convinced thats what brought on labour. Have a go, let's test the theory!

Congratulations ladies, hope you are enjoying your little bundles of joy! Well, we did it too! Last Wednesday night I was out on a girly night out (after shopping all day!!), came home at 1am and just as I was heading upstairs to bed exhausted, my waters broke, 2.5 weeks early! Almost 24 hours later, still only at 5cm the doctor decided it was best to do a C-Section and at 11.09pm, 28th of April, baby Afraa was born. We stuck with Dr Yamini and Welcare in the end and am so happy we did. The staff and Dr Yamini were amazing and worked so well to help us before we made the decision of a C-S. I couldn't recommend them enough.

My 4 dogs just loved Urban Tails! Aideen who is running the place is fantastic and I know that my babies are in the best care possible there. 2 of my dogs stayed for a few days when I was ill and the staff cared so much for them that they were devastated when they left! They have all been to day care and had a great time there too. It is great to leave them in kennels knowing that they are happy and well looked after. I was also very pleasantly suprised when I got the bill! I had expected something ridiculous, but to be honest it was no worse than any other kennels for a much more upmarket place.

Curly, I am sorry if I have freaked you out too! I had heard nothing but good reports about Al Wasl, hence the reason I wanted to go there. I am seeing Dr Yamini tomorrow morning and will have a good talk with her then. I also have an appointment booked in the afternoon with Dr Ensaf at Belhoul Speciality Hospital. I will see then if it is possible to change and also see if I can get a tour etc to see if I actually want to change. From posts on here, Dr Ensaf seems to be pretty good. I am relatively new to Dubai and at the time I got pregnant, I hadn't a clue where to start and had never heard of Expat Woman! I went on the advice of my midwife friend who works at Welcare and that was it! Next time I will certainly be a lot more prepared and organised thats for sure!

To be honest I was also supposed to be giving birth at Al Wasl! My husband, useless as he is, had not booked me in on time, but he had managed to arrange with the hospital that I could go there regardless. I had had a tour and was delighted with the place! The English lady who is head of midwifrey put our minds at ease so much that I was convinced it was the right place for me. Up until now I have been seeing Dr Yamini privately, but it was never my intention to give birth at Welcare as my friend who works there had told me how the doctors are too keen to push the deliveries through, do CS's, episiotimies and intervene. That had me worried, hence changing to Al Wasl. That being said, Dr Yamini has been lovely and I have never had an issue with her. I am now in a dilemma! Our insurance only covers Belhoul and Zuleikha outright. Anything else we have to pay for upfront and claim back! So unsure what to do. I will try to get an appointment with Belhoul and see what I think, but now I think I am stuck with Welcare and paying up front. I don't know if another hospital will take me now at 37 + weeks. I am also very scared to go changing hospitals and doctors at this late stage because of that bl**dy woman!
