Having greasy hair is one of the best ways to look like a total slob. However, sometimes, despite your best efforts - your hair randomly turns greasy. These are some reasons that your hair is turning into an oil slick:
1. Using harsh shampoos/heavy conditioners
Using a heavy moisturising conditioner, especially when you have fine hair can cause limpness in the hair strands. Shampoos, on the other hand, with harsh detergents and surfactants could cause sebum glands in your scalp to go into overdrive. Make sure to read your shampoo labels and avoid ones that contain sodium lauryl sulphate.
2. Touching your hair too much
Touching your hair once or twice in a day isn't going to turn you into a grease-ball, but constantly touching and playing with your hair will. The oil and bacteria that transfers from your hands is the source of the grease.
3. Touching your face too much
It is not so much your face as it is the makeup and skincare on your face that turn your face greasy. The types of ingredients in cosmetics leave a residue and they attract dust, debris, and particles in the air that can cause an oily effect
4. Air-drying your hair
It is always better to blow-dry as the heat from a blow dryer actually plumps the cuticle of your hair strand, which can better absorb any scalp oils.
