At just 18, Saudi Arabian model Taleedah Tamer made her haute couture debut in Paris for Antonio Grimaldi's Couture Fall 18 show. Born in Jeddah to a Saudi father and Italian mother, the Saudi model is breaking barriers by becoming Saudi’s first couture model in a fashion industry that rarely showcases Middle Eastern beauty.
Taleedah Tamer recently starred on her first international magazine cover for Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, before making her debut on the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week catwalk –as the rising talent is storming onto the fashion scene, determined to showcase her Saudi style and her Middle Eastern roots that have so far been under-represented.
With a Saudi heritage and an Italian flair for fashion, Taleedah Tamer is set to bring more diversity onto the runway and into the industry, as it is refreshing to see more Arab women, with their evident beauty and talent, recognised. It’s a step forward for inclusivity in fashion.
For Saudi women it is encouraging to see a Saudi model on the horizon, but for Taleedah Tamer it is both an honour and a pressure to represent her community and model in a way that is still respectful to her culture. But, as Antonio Grimaldi's Couture Fall 18 show demonstrated, the young Saudi model is already finding her feet on the runway –and in style too!
Taleedah Tamer is a name and face that you’re about to see a lot more of.
