The year 2016 has seen the rise of some rather ridiculous makeup trends.
Makeup is almost entirely about exaggeration nowadays - one wants bigger lips, bolder brows, defined cheekbones and highlight that could blind the sun itself. While all these enhancements can make a person look nice, doing everything all at once in excess can send you packing to drag queen territory.
Here is our list of overrated makeup trends that are best left behind in 2016.
1. Harsh Contouring
Considering how often we see girls walking around looking like Oompa-Loompas with brown stripes across their cheeks makes us wish harsh contouring would go away for good.

2. Rainbow Highlights
We wonder who beyond the age of 3 would think a rainbow highlight is a good idea?
If you want your brows or cheekbones to pop, go for pink champagne (for fair skin tones) or rose gold highlighters (for medium to dark skin tones).

3. Overdrawn Lips
Overlining your lips makes you look downright comical. We'd rather not look like Joker from the Batman, thank you.

4. Insta Eyebrows
Yes, we are talking about those overly-filled, harshly angled and even ombre brows that have taken over our Instagram feeds. Makeup isn’t a geometry class and you’re not a character straight out of Star Wars.
In 2017, opt for naturally filled brows - harsh angled brows make you look older than you are.

5. Baking
Let's just leave this one for the kitchen.
Baking is a technique used by drag queens for when they are performing on stage under artificial light that washes you out– NOT for the office or house parties.
