Even though New York and LA constantly battle it out to decide who’s the real home of hip hop, Atlanta’s influence shouldn’t be downplayed. The city has a huge hip hop and rap scene, with Outkast, T.I. and Gucci Mane all proud of their Southern roots.

In fact, Big Boi of Outkast fame will be representing his city at the half-time show at the Super Bowl. If you don’t exactly have front row seats to their performance there are plenty of other places to soak up some hip hop, rap and trap music – like the MJQ Concourse, Club Crucial or 529.

The park is a serene oasis in the middle of the urban space, with a lake, markets and basketball and tennis courts.

There’s a burgeoning craft beer scene in Atlanta, so you should definitely take advantage of that. There are lots of great craft breweries, including the New Realm Brewing Company and Monday Night Brewing.

You’re in Atlanta, so some good Southern BBQ is where it’s at. We’re not going to be foolish and claim we know hands-down the best spot – that would almost certainly cause uproar – but it’s widely acknowledged that Daddy D’z is pretty darn good.
