Also please note that your husband will need a few months bank statements (4-6 months) before he can sponsor you (or any children), and a rental agreement. Good luck with everything.

I moved to aspire zone a few months back-and would really like to join a running group. I am particularly interested in the couch to 10k program. I am not a professional runner-but i did this a couple of years back and really enjoyed it. Let me know if you would be interested. Also if there is any weight watchers or similar in doha-would like to join... TIA

Just a question, how is it that DESS can hold a place a term in advance for children that are not in Doha, and yet there are quite a few children (that I know personally) in Doha that have not even been called for assessment, and they are British passport holders... What is the criteria?

Ditto blister, I didn't even bother to follow up with her. Minimum is to show up or even apologise if can't make it. Not a good first impression so I left alone. Good luck!

Hi, I have delivered twice here, once @ Al Ahli and once @ Hamad. Both times I was seeing a Dr not related to the hospitals. Dr Adnan 44989955. He has always been very professional and has been able to answer all my queries. I have never had to wait more than 10 mins (if I have had an appointment-he is very strict with his appointment scheme). When I delivered with Al Ahli, I was going in to book the appointments, and the wait (with an appointment) would vary from 10 mins to 1 hour. However, if you are going to deliver there then you should 'open a file' although they will not turn you out if you are in labour! For Hamad, I did not register there at all, I was seeing my Dr (as above) all the way through and when I was in labour I went to the Womens' hospital, and was soon seen by a dr and taken into my labour room. There is not much difference between the hospitals when it came to the care, or delivery experience the major difference was the aftercare and the time spent in the hospital afterwards (al ahli 3 days, Hamad 2 days). Good Luck and you will be fine, depending what you are looking for, I can reccommend both hospitals for giving birth. :)

Hi, Yes this does exist in Doha and will be starting their new term in September. They started last year and had alot of applicants, and thus they didn't really advertise. They will be expanding, by offering more classes from Sept. I believe a 6 week course 3 hours a week and there was an optional session where you can get the first aid. HTH.

HI, It really depends what you are looking for in a school. I was about to send my Child to Sherbourne, and was very happy with the reviews of current parents, and I was happy with the 'push' they would have given my child. I have decided not to send him this Sept, (as the company will not pay from Reception, only Year 1), it will definately be high up on my list next Sept. Anyhow, for now I am keeping him in a British Curriculum Nursery until Sept 2012-when he will be in Year 1. Honestly, this schooling is a nightmare here, there should be some sort of regulations, and I really don't believe these 'waiting lists'. I expect if you know the right people, there would be no waiting list!! Just my thought and experience!!!

Morning, I agree with Rachel, that I also do not add random people to my FB account, but in the case that there are some linkedIn professionals that request a connection, I rarely ignore this as it may lead to someone you need to speak to for work purposes. I have some very positive experiences with LinkedIn, and I can really find the person I need for business purposes, much easier than actually calling the company and trying to be put through! You never know whom that person may have connections too!! Good Luck!

I also have to agree with Silver...you are always offering accurate information, sometimes you also confirm things that I have heard, and to be honest, have always found that you are right, so I do rely on you too...:) Thanks Rachel...

Blister the same thing happened to us...and in the end my boys never got to see the seal show. We went on the opening night, wasnt too busy when we had arrived, I asked at the info desk for tickets to the show (they told me no tickets needed), I had read on the net we would need tickets...so I believed this guy. Next we went to the seal station and asked there, they said the same thing, no tickets needed and come back at 6pm for the show..Great we thought... 6pm came and lo and behold all the tickets had beem given out!! Wow...I was very angry, so I tried to speak to someone who gave a damn...noone! A couple of days later, I decided I would try again, knowing the 'system'. We arrived again at 4pm. was about 15th in line of one of the queues (why there was 2..I dont know!). They started giving out tickets, and we didn't even get a look in, people pushing in cutting up. I approached security they told me go to this one and that one...it was shameful and appalling. I asked to speak to the manager...idiot he was...He said we are trying to work out a system...it wsa like the 4th day into the festival. I am fuming about the whole experience. The sad thing is, its a lovely festival and they really work hard on it, then something so simple really causes chaos... The concept of queues really is foreign here!!!

Sorry to hear that you are having a bad time...things get easier, or we get used to them..not sure! :) By Law the company has to repatriate you back to your country, legally. It is up to your company whether you would pay, and the 'normal' (not necessary legal) practice is that they would deduct any costs from your last pay packet. It is not necessary legal, but it does happen. HTH... :)

K3, I am really glad that you have organised the childcare, as that is the biggest headache. The option you have sounds like a good idea. Out of curiosity how much will you be paying the nanny on a monthly basis? Regarding the Nanny Cam, if you have the option then why not, I would inform her. It's not about not trusting, but you want to trust that you have the right person, and then this will dec any chance that her partner may hang out etc. Good luck with the rest of it... :)
