This is going to be really rubbish because I have no idea where to get these things but I love the silver necklaces with small pendants with childrens names and finger prints. Very cute, but like I say, no idea where you get them from!

Thanks Ladies, she has just e mailed quite a terse response saying that she is fully aware of the Rera regulations etc, and therefore if we would like to pay her fees of 1000 aed she will let us stay (as we have been such great tenants!) She then also threw in that we also must be aware that she intends to put the villa on the market for sale and we would have to move in three months anyway if and when it sold!!!! So if we dont renew, we still have 3 months to find another home etc and just pay the current rent monthly instead of our usual 1 cheque? Hubby is so stressed and frustrated with this. Thanks again x

Just wanted some guidance please. In the UK at the mo so everything been done by e mail!!!! We have lived in our latest home for nearly 12 months and our lease is due to end. DH contacted the Landlord and told them we wanted to renew on same terms etc for year 2. LL came back wanting to increase the rent by 30,000 aed or put it back on the market! So we, and the agent told her she couldn't do that and if she wanted to take the house off the market she had to move in it herself (or family!) Any way much e mailing to and fro, same info, same response "I have a mortgage, I have to increase the rent". Asked for her contact number to discuss it, as we all know sometimes you need to talk to people to explain etc. Still no number! The agent now says for us just contact Rera! So I suppose after all of this wibbling, what I really would like to know is a) Are we right? b) What are Rera like to deal with? oh yes and c) Does it cost us? At this stage we are thinking of throwing in the towel and moving just cos she so flippin annoying, we are very frustrated and the lease ends mid Sept and we dont come back to Dubai until 1st Sept, time marching on etc, etc, Any help would be appreciated. BTW - its raining, again!

I'm sure they'll put on 'magic cream' before they insert the Venflon. Much worse for mums watching and waiting x

Book costs 350dhs - Saved 600dhs in 1 trip to Wild Wadi. Speaks for itself (and pays for itself ;) ) Booked a yacht cruise for DH's 40th and saved 1400AED in one go! Beat that! lol I like a challenge ;) Good for you 1400dhs that's quite a saving, might just be enough for a new dress and shoes? Just wondered . . . . . ;)

Had tons of CT with contrast and 1 MRI without. Contrast made me feel like I'd wet myself (sorry!) but not painful or anything. Also had to drink gallons of this horrid liquid disguised as cheap orange squash! And the MRI was pain free but noisy! I really didnt expect it, it was like having a scan in the middle of a building site with all of the clunks and bangs! I'm ok usually with lifts etc but this was a tight squeeze (maybe that says more about me than the scanner!!) I just kept my eyes shut and tried not to think anout it. Mine was abdominale, suppose it could matter where on the body it is. No bother though, you'll be grand.

If you're not on the invite, then you're not invited! Simple! I wouldn't dream of going ANYWHERE where I wasn't invited!

They are more vigilant than ever now. I was at the tennis court (get me eh!!) today and came out to find a security guard writing down my plate number in the car park area. I asked him if everything was ok and he just said, "Fine, good, everything is good". Told him I was resident and my villa number. Not a very exciting story, but there you have it ;)

I always try to keep them on the line as long as possible - saying "oh thank you", and "hold on I have to get a pen", "oh thanks I"m so excited, it's come at just the right time, my DH has lost his job" and I carry on telling them all sorts of stories - wasting their airtime and they eventually hang up LOL You sound like my father-in-law and the "double glazing salesmen" in the UK - he always chats to them for ages as it costs him nothing, his Irish ways usually end up gettign the conversation round to their kids, their parents, the weather, anything but the actual purpose of the call. Its his one man campaign to put them out of business through huge phone bills :-) My Dad does a similar thing in the UK, he answers the phone then when they launch into the spiel he says, "Sorry, one minute, somethings on the stove". He pops the phone on the table and leaves it for a few hours!!! Friends can get him on his moby, the company cant use the line cos he hasnt put the phone down and he has peace and quiet! He says he hasn't had a call for a while, strange that . . . . . . !

Lulu, Al Barsha do a spicy or 'not spicy' for 3.90dhs. Very nice, the size of a small rugby ball and best eaten waiting on the free beach next to Jumeirah Beach Park waiting to collect the kiddly winks. Also like Automatic (Beach Centre) and Ikea, knocks spots off the rubber hot dogs!

Sorry for being a bit dim, but 70 dhs per seater? Does this mean my 3 seater will cost 210dhs to re-upholster? That sounds very cheap! Is it just the seat pad or the whole frame etc? Got a large 3+2+1 that I would love to smarten up but fear the price would put me off! Thanks and sorry for the hijack x

I have paid the exhorbitant Jumeirah prices and ended up having more work to recify/ clear up in the UK. I dont have any experience with Karama dentists but you already say DH has been and had good experiences, that would be good enough for me. Good luck.

Cheeky, thieving gits! Welcome to Mirador anyway SunDevil, we've had one of the kids scooters nicked but didnt report it as my DDs probably left it on the path (we could do things like that in Alvorada!). Also it was Halloween so we put it down to kids messing about and then probably dumping it on the other side of the estate! Other than that we quite like it here, except for the noisey revving and roaring cars!!! Sounds like these thieves really took their time in cherry picking what they wanted! Take care neighbour, we aren't all bad xxx

Same happened to me last year, invited the whole class, half replied, most of which turned up, majority with siblings in tow and one even had his twin sisters with him!!! Like you say, all expected to be fed and party bags after the event! I recently received (or rather DD did!) an invite to a party in Safa park, it requested 'no siblings' and I didnt feel offended. Ironically enough it was the woman with the twins!!!

I get these calls every few weeks, I just let them get their patter out and then say (in a very excited voice!) "What? Me? Again? I won this last week" They hang up very quickly
