My mum has decided to take up knitting again and has asked me to get her knitting needles. The only brands she remembers using are Milward and Aero so she's asked for those specifically. Does anyone know if and where these are available in Dubai? If not, can any avid knitters suggest alternate brands that are just as good in quality, if not better? I've searched the forum already and the places which stock knitting needles (no idea about manufacturer) are Craftland, Magrudy's, Dubai Library Distributors and Fida (Satwa).

Too bad about the shade not being available on either site! Maybe buying separates might be cheaper on the website? Good luck.

Yes they do. I ordered a ghd straightener a while ago (MUCH cheaper than here) and it was delivered to my husband's office PO Box (so technically to his office building). I think it you have a personal PO Box (i.e. just a small mailbox), any large items go straight to the Karama Post Office and you get a slip in your mailbox telling you to collect it from there. Also, mark the items as gift so monetary receipts aren't attached and you don't have to pay import duty.

Can someone post the map on a sharing website and post the link here? That way we can all look at it and the original poster won't be swamped with email requests. Thanks.

I'd like to go in for a simple blood test but was wondering if I could skip the doctor's consultation and go on my own. I've had it done in the past so it's not something new and it's a fairly common test. It would mainly be to give me some peace of mind that the lifestyle changes and effort I've put in are working. Is this possible? Are there any pathology clinics/labs I can go to directly? Would insurance cover this on reimbursement or direct billing if clinics/labs are in the network? I was just hoping someone has had a blood test done without a doctor's note and could let me know how it worked out in terms of insurance. I will put in a call to my insurance in the morning though but any feedback before that would be great! Thanks.

Dodo .. I've recently heard of several LL trying this on with their tenants .. In fact, someone I know actually agreed to pay the additional rent. I think you should stick to your guns if you have Rera on your side. I posted recently about my own dilemma regarding giving the LL adequate notice of renewal as well as registering my lease with Rera and received just 1 reply so not much help. I don't mean to hijack but I think sharing the following information will help us all. Elmsnre - Could you please share which Rera email address you used on cc when emailing your LL? crystalsindubai - Could you please share a working link to the rental index? Each time I try to access it, I get a popup message saying it is being updated and contact xyz at the Rera office. Thanks.

Any ideas on when would be a good time to put in a renewal email to the landlord? 2 months? 1 month? The contract wording quoted below is just confusing to me so I was hoping someone on I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

Oh. My EW search didn't throw up a fee. Everyone who'd registered the contract themselves (when landlords neglected to) said it was free.

Sorry to hijack this thread... NewbieDoha ... I'd be willing to swap my regular GHD straightener for your larger salon styler.. I have long thick frizzy hair and made the mistake of not buying the salon styler with the larger plates. Ordered mine from the UK and can verify authenticity if you're interested. I've hardly used it as I couldn't be bothered to put in double the time. Thanks.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone and DC and Moustique for your kind offer. They are actually visiting from July 7th. I did consider getting the bubblebum as they could take that back with them and use it later when she outgrew her carseat at home but wasn't sure if she would be too young. She is tall for her age so could pass for 3, so I'm reassured by Chocolate Chick's suggestion. Might just go and get that. Is there somplace you can try it out or speak to a sales staff? If not, I'll be contacting you very soon DC. As for rentacrib.ae - As my original post mentions, I looked it up but it's cheaper to buy one than rent it for AED120/week for 4 weeks! Thought of dubizzle as well but searching and double-checking if the seat had been in an accident etc would be too much hassle (plus short on time!). Thanks all!

There is a King Coil store on Sh Zayed Rd and they seem to have a summer promotion going on as well (at least that's what I could tell as I drove past). Sorry have not tried any of these stores but am on the lookout for mattresses myself these days and all 3 stores (Intercoil, Restonic and King Coil) are on my list. Apparently the top-end Ikea mattresses are supposed to be good for back pain as well (as recommended by a physio I met once) so should be good enough quality.

Oops.. didn't read your post correctly. The DVDs (in supermarkets) do tend to get released quite a bit after the films have been off at the cinemas. I'll read posts more carefully next time!

I think if you checked the Grand Cinemas website, it seems to have a glitch and has gone back to really old film listings! The other cinema websites are showing the latest screenings.

If I was getting a lot of items, I would have already placed the order as the delivery cost would have been worth it. Right now, I want to start using the products so need to get small starter sizes to roadtest them. I'm basically after the cleanse and polish 30ml tube and the 2ml superskin concentrate (comes to a total of around 11 pounds) whereas international shipping is 15 pounds - doesn't make sense really! Maybe if a group of people would like to order together, then it would make sense to make one bulk delivery order. My second concern is what if they don't allow liquids/cosmetics to come through the postal system. I know that is why I can't simply use Shop&Ship for this! Annoying!

Yes I know they do international deliveries but I want to try out the products and it turns out the delivery charge (15 quid) is more than the cost of the cleanse and polish starter kit! If I do like them, I will be placing larger orders which will justify the delivery cost so no problems there. So if anyone can do me this favour, I'd be grateful! I can actually order online and have it delivered to a local UK address (hopefully they accept UAE credit cards) but will need someone to bring it over to Dubai. Thanks.

It happens irrespective of the quality of the towel unfortunately! They do go soft after the first use though so maybe I need to start using the fabric softener.

Hello I need another 6-for-3 Sugar Daddy's cupcakes voucher from the Time Out voucher booklet. Willing to swap any of the other vouchers so let me know (except the Frankie's one as I've used it already). Thanks! To mods: This is not an Entertainer swap so I don't think it should be a problem.

Still trying to get a clear answer from DNRD... You're right xmasbaby about no extension being possible. The online information does say a 90 day visit visa is possible (although cost is atrocious!) but still have to confirm with DNRD. Will call again so I get someone else on the line ... Heh heh!

Thanks WaxMuch. The DNRD website allows for Visa on Arrival countries the possibility of a 30-day renewal but doesn't say the same for Short Term Visit Visa holders so I'm thinking it might not work out. Off to telephone them now...

Well after much searching I managed to find slightly larger rubber bands (but still not the size I was after) at Office Depot in Mirdif City Centre.. Daiso only had two sizes which were your standard small tan rubber bands. Not easy getting stuff together for craft projects!

Just wanted to add that I did find the seam ripper in Lulu so thank you for that tip. The annoying thing is that I was at the Dubai Library store on Sh Zayed Rd yesterday and they had them for half-price. I know it isn't an expensive item but I just don't like it when the mark-up is so huge in different stores!
