Just been helping a friend from Australia to get the police clearance certificate last Sunday. If you had done the registration for Emirates ID, your finger prints are already in their record. All you need to do is get a friend in Dubai to bring your passport copy, visa copy and a passport-sized photo to the Dubai Police HQ. Pay 210dhs (plus an hour of waiting) and go back after 3 days to collect your certificate. My friend spent a lot of time and money to get fingerprints taken at a local police station, attestation and bank draft ended up the police officer returned all these to me. So I hope nobody repeats the same. It is just so easy and simple as long as you have your fingerprints record in the system and a friend who is willing to help you!

Welcome Zenzac! I'm interested to meet other Malaysian mother too. Same like you (also msian Chinese), I'm a working mother with two kids (older one is 3 and attending to FS1 this Sept and the younger one just passed 4 months). We have a nanny at home to look after the LO and do the household chores. You definitely need a live in maid if you are full time working otherwise you will need to find a helper during school holidays. The Greens is a good place for family especially for the young kids, we love the environment here! Perhaps our kids can meet up to play somedays later. Good luck to you! If you need any information drop me an email w_wanken at yahoo dot co dot uk

Try this one MyStays Inn Asakusa-bashi/Akihabara, next to the train line. Easy access to airport and central. We spent 4 nights there and cost us less than AED 400 per night for a double bed room.

DH has been working in Salalah for 2 yrs and he always flies with Oman Air in between Salalah-Dubai. Direct flight is available twice a week and the journey time takes around 2 hrs. Marriott is far from the center and airport but has a beautiful beach. Crowne Plaza is good for dining/pubs and I believe it is nearer to the Wadi and Mirbat. Hilton is more closer to Samharam resort (where my DH lives) and Mughsayl. Have a good time there but do prepare yourself as the traffic is pretty bad during this period.

With Al Naboodah service centre, the cheapest service was AED470 (for oils and filter). And the biggest service, including gear oil, brake pad, batteries etc was around AED 3700. You can always get a quote before sending the car for servicing, they always give discount on the final bill.

I've seen it few weeks ago in Choitram Nasser Square, Deira. Can't remember what sizes are they? Give them a call 04-2232488 and check out if they have the size you are looking for.

Just call up to the EK customer service after the baby born. I went back to my home country to deliver my DS and add his name to my ticket before my return flight to Dubai, I only paid 10% of my original fare.

It is possible for female to sponsor a maid. I've done mine last month as my visa is sponsored by the company (my husband is working in Oman and he doesn't have Dubai visa). But you need to show your tenancy contract with at least two bedrooms (attested by Land Department in Deira - you need to get your LL's passport copy and title deed). The minimum monthly salary to sponsor a maid is AED 6K. In the immigration, they did ask a lot of question, i.e why do you need the maid? why the husband is not the main sponsor? etc. Good luck!

Few months back, one of my friend rented a studio in The Greens, Canal apartment on monthly basis cost around AED 5k (furnished, water, electricity, basic TV channel and internet included). The place is very nice with supermarket and restaurant only 200m away, the balcony also has a beautiful canal view. He got this thru dubizzle... wish you luck in finding a good place. p/s: you can easily get taxis here and it will cost you around 15 dirhams per trip to Umm Suqeim.
