You can definitely find a few good brands of real French Dijon mustard (Maille and Amora) at Carrefour MOE. Always get the big jars from there. ;) HTH

I believe it's pretty common practice from our experience and those of friends with pools. We have been with MAK POOLS also for the pasr two years (and happy with their service) and have always given them post-dated cheques until December when we signed the contract. Also FYI, as far as we know, you can cancel your contract anytime and they will give you back all your PDC. HTH.

Hello Ladies, We might need a babysitter in a week's time for an evening for our two young children. Would really appreciate having some recommendations for trustworthy babysitters (teenagers or agency babysitters) you have used or know. TIA. edited by vuster on 26/05/2012

We stayed at the Desert resort and really loved it there. The room was very nice, luxurious and spacious, and the swimming pool was in the shade in the afternoon so it was not too hot to hang out for a couple of hours. Oh, and the bathroom size was out of this world as it was huuuge and very well laid out. We reslly enojoyed the activities too as well as the massages and Rainforest experience. The buffet breakfast was not huge but definitely adequate enough. My parents stayed at both when they came to visit and preferred the Desert resort more as you have direct access to the spa, main restaurant which had a much more extensive menu and all the activities. Moreover, they said the resort seemed deserted and the rooms at the Beach were much smaller and not as nice. Having said that, the day we checked out from the Desert resort, we went to the Beach resort to spend the afternoon, and really enjoyed swimming in the sea and the infinity swimming pool there. So it really depends what you're looking for. If you want peace, tranquility and sun tanning, then the Beach resort is better. But if you are more social and like a Desert scenery, activities, and food tasting, then I would go for the Desert resort. HtH.

I tried them out when they had a deal on Cobone for a massage at home and was very happy. The girl that came was very nice and professional and gave me a great massage -- strong yet relaxing, just the way I like it! ;). Good value for money.

Hi Mayabkk, If you haven't been to Vietnam yet, then definitely give it a try this year. However, the destinations you choose will depend on when you decide to go and how long you will have. For example, Phan Thiet's wettest months are between May and October whereas Hoi An and Nha Trang's are between September and December-January. So if you plan to go during the summer, though it might be quite hot, I would definitely recommend Hoi An. We loved it there as it's a relaxing, historical and romantic little town with great beach resorts. Also if you have time, Nha Trang is also a great beach destination and nice for diving. We used to live in Hanoi also and though it's a very charming colonial city with nice french architecture, I would say that It's only worth to go there if you decide to fly in there from overseas -- which might not be a bad idea given that during the summer, the south is much wetter than the center and north of Vietnam.

We lived In several countries in South East Asia and would have to say that our favorite place to go on a relaxing holidaywould be Thailand hands down. We love spending a few days in Bangkok as a big city as lots of places to eat and great shopping (though traffic can be hectic and a bit polluted) and then going to a nice beach resort on the coast such as Phuket, Koh Samui, Hua Hin, Koh Chang etc... Would also agree with other ladies in regards to Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur for nice cities to visit. Other very nice beach resorts can be found in Bali or Vietnam, particularly Hoi An which is a beautiful little town (recognized as a UNESCO world heritage) with wonderful beach resorts. We also liked Nha Trang and Phan Thiet in the South. There are just so many great places you could go to so it would definitely come down to how long you will have in the region, how much you want to move around and what your budget is. HTH.

Thank you ladies for all your useful feedback. It's always best to hear it directly from people living in the communities. I think that my friend will definitely have a better idea of where to settle in after reading your posts. Of course, living in a Saheel in AR, I was a bit biased when I gave her my opinion but I'm glad that she will have the choice to make up her mind objectively now. ;)

Thank you Greenfox and AS for your input. Looks like the houses in VH are better but the community at AR win hands down. A tough one to choose here. Guess if one is thinking long term, VH might be a better choice if the community center, pools and golf club are all up and running. Apparently, that is in the near future? But will forward your comments to my friend so she can decide for herself in the end. If anyone living in VH has more input, it would be great to hear. PS. Forgot to mention that the villa in VH would have a pool. ;)

We used to be with Tool Time and they were alright, though not always as prompt and responsive as we would have like them too. However, compared to Emrill and H&G, they were more competitive. After one year with them, when it was time to renew, we read about another smaller 'boutique' maintenance company which was highly recommended, Al Hilal, and decided to sign up with them. Their prices were even cheaper than TT and we found them to be very professional and more responsive and prompter than TT, especially in case of emergencies . Their yearly contract covers more or less the same thing as the other companies and we've been happy with their services.

The exact same thing/situation happened to my four-year-old a few months ago and we took her to A&E at Al Wasl hospital. They were very professional and thorough as the first thing they did was pump her stomach, inject 'charcoal' liquid in it to absorb anything that was left in there, then they did a blood test and pee sample to check that she did not have abnormal levels of iron and other toxic vitamin substances (don't remember which ones). They kept her in observation for a couple of hours after that and when the results of the blood test/pee came in and were normal and DD was feeling alright, they let us go home. She was fine the next day but that was a very scary moment. At least we know after the experience of the stomach pump, DD will never dare to pull a stunt like that again. Hope your DD is fine now. :)

Hi Dolly Daydream, We're about to buy a second hand dishwasher and were also looking at someone to make the connection/installation at our house in AR. If you don't mind me asking, how much did Jim'll Fix It end up charging you and how long did it take? Thanks, Vuster
