We visited Krabi during December...it was absolutely beautiful and very peaceful (not really a party place). Definitely worth considering and was very easy to get to the Phi Phi islands and Maya Bay.

I second Dr Rania for anyone who has a child with reflux. She is the only one who managed to help us and is fantastic!

Hi All, My little one also suffers from very bad silent reflux. We saw many doctors, including Dr Khan who is very well recommended on all forums from Cooper Clinic, though no one really paid much attention as my son was gaining good weight. He suffered a lot and then I went to see Dr Rania at Infinity Health Clinic. If anyone has children suffering from reflux would highly recommend you see her...she is brilliant and her son had reflux so will understand the pain both parents and the child is going through. I found Baby Gaviscon at American Hospital. It's also available at City Hospital in Dubai. Nexium seems to be working for us, but you have to wait at least 10 days to see the results...now I have a happy baby :) We hated the Aptamil AR formula. We are now on Hipp Organic which my son loves, plus the Gaviscon and Nexium. Good luck.

I just delivered my first child at City Hospital in June. Fantastic experience and excellent staff both during labour and post labour. Would highly recommend. The midwives helped out so much, would choose the same hospital again. Also besides all the help from the midwives, the lactation consultant will come help you and you will also have a physiotherapy class. Goodluck

Hi All, Thank you so much for all your comments and Enigma thank you for offering me your Infant Gaviscon. We managed to find some at the American Hospital pharmacy last night :) We have tried it on the little one, lets see how it goes. Will have to check out Zantac. Have been prescribed Infant Gaviscon and Nexium. Anyone used Nexium before, we have only been told to use it if the Gaviscon does not work. After multiple forumlas including Aptamil AR, we changed to Hipp Organic and our baby is a changed person altogether. So happy and no longer miserable or crying like he was on the AR formula, just cannot keep the milk down. Hoping that Gaviscon works as he loves sleeping with this formula and with the others would fight sleeping for 5-8 hours. Thanks

Does anybody know if you can get Cerazette here? Will the pharmacies sell contraceptive pill over the counter without prescription? Hi, I was just speaking to Aster Pharmacy in Aspect Towers (Business Bay) inquiring about the available birth control pills in the UAE. I do recall the pharmacist mentioning Cerazette as being available. You can call them on 04-4357450 to double check. Thanks

Hi, Has anyone found a good alternative to Microgynon 30 in Dubai? I have read so many mixed reviews of different pills and have always used Microgynon 30 which is not available here. Am very confused and any tips would be helpful. Thanks

hi Intl, We also don't have our a/c down below 22 deg, although we have friends in other towers who have 18. When I said this to Idama the chap said this was impossible as no towers go below 22. What to do? 22 is ok and long term we probably wouldn't want it below that anyway but it's not really cold enough to exercise in etc. Then again in Winter the towers are asbolutely freezing! What to do. edited by BiscuitMuncher on 01/08/2012 Hi, I agree, winter is freezing in Exec Towers! You need to raise the issue with Property Management (Taziz) on 043694111. Honestly speaking, when you tell them your ac has been set at 22 degrees, they think its impossible, but this is what is happening if anyone touches your ac for servicing. The more people raise the issue, the better as Empower bills only go higher by keeping the AC temp on 3bars (full speed). We as tenants are paying bills and have no control over temperature. Then they tell us the information we are giving is incorrect. It's pathetic. Don't bother with Idama or the link or you will go crazy

Yikes, am I right in thinking that it only applies to villas? Little old me with my 1BD over here shouldn't have to face that too? Seriously need to consider the merits of home cooked food vs Take out again! After today I may never turn on the oven again! (oh, and on top of this, spent 3 hours boiling evaporated milk instead of condensed milk yesterday for my banoffee pie.....) I thought the housing fee applied to everyone, whether or not they lived in apartments - take a look at your DEWA bills and you'll see whether or not it has been applied. In any case, if you are already paying it, it will stay the same from month to month and is on the DEWA bill already. Housing fee applies to everyone it just depends if they make you fill in the amount of rent in the red box when you register at DEWA. I got away with it for 5 years however now pay it Hi, are you in Executive Towers? I have seen a couple of people having problems with the AC here which is driving us crazy. You need to raise this with Property Management as Idama will always tell us the temperature is fixed in the building which is ridiculous and Property Management think there is no such thing!

Hi All, Seen a couple of posts on here regarding the AC in Exec Towers. I have been living in Exec Towers B since May 2011 and previously we were able to control our temperature the way we wanted and if we put it down to 18 degrees, it would get there after a few hours. I had my AC serviced at the beginning of July 2012 and since then, I have had a nightmare. I have had 6 Idama guys come here to tell me there is nothing wrong with my AC and that 22 degrees is the normal temperature and that no matter whether I put it to 16 degrees, the minimum is fixed to 22 degrees. I have never heard of such a thing and have made a complaint to Taziz Management who advised that tenants control their our own AC temperatures - but looking at a couple of threads on this forum, others are facing the same problem. I am continuing to raise this as I suffer from heat rash (as I'm a ex Londoner), but have never heard of such a pathetic thing that tenants who are paying huge Empower bills are unable to control the temperature themselves. Empower have also confirmed this should not be the case. This is beyond ridiculous and if you are facing the same problem, you need to speak to Taziz Property Management on 043694111. It's like going to a hotel and spending the night in a paid room but the hotel fixing the temperature for you. Annoyed..!!
