How do the french fries taste with the Air Fryer? Quite decent actually - however my 2 and 3 year olds weren't really fussed on them. I must admit they're quite fussy eaters so may be somebody else can help with that answer.

Ashes, I bought mine on 02 Feb from Geant - however my family is really not fussed on super healthy food and I have a feeling my acti-fryer will end up collecting dust. So, if you're still looking to buy one, mine is up for sale, I bought mine for DHS 599 and as I have only used it twice and will sell it for Dhs 500. Comes with the Guarantee and box with recipe booklet etc. Email me - if you're interested. edited by samdhi on 19/03/2013

Hi Swiss Sandy, We did this a couple of weeks ago. We stopped by the car museum about 11.00a.m. and although it looked shut and deserted it was in fact open and it even had a couple of people inside! Just make sure you go all the way in to the big pyramid structure and there is a little side door, which can't be seen from the front. Very interesting museum and if I remember right I think they close for an hour for lunch (may be 1pm - 2pm.). Enjoy!!!

Ladies, am I right in thinking that if I have been a tenant in a property for 5 years and the landlord wants to sell his property he can do so without having to ask me to leave the property and that this notice should be 3 months. My understanding from previous threads is that RERA says landlord free to sell property and if the buyer wants to move in they need to give the tenants 12months Notice??? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Jumping on the bandwagon....since we're talking about lending/borrowing money. This has been bugging me for quite a while. My previous maid transferred her sponsorship to a new family and after all this was done she asked to borrow her airfare home as the new family would not be paying for this (she had had her paid holiday and so was not entitled to further trip home). So we lent her the money. The maid, went to Sri Lanka, came back and started working for her new sponsors. However, within 6 weeks she was fired and they put a year long ban on her! She is now back in Dubai, living in the same gated community as myself. She has been curious enough to come see the children (once to my home and once on the street) but has made no mention of returning the money she borrowed despite previous reminders. This matter will soon be turning 2 years old. I am quite tempted to turn up where she currently works and ask her employer to deduct her salary and give me my Dhs 1,500 back.. Any meaningful advice, what would you do?

Thanks October and Boumboum for taking the time to reply. Am a bit confused as the Saniservice agent took time to take photos and look at the openings etc. Whereas the Epsco agent just asked re: the number of AC switches in the house and based the price on that! I know that the Saniservice guy did mention about the difficulty of opening up certain units and showed me one such unit....could this be the type of unit you are talking about Boumboum? And am I right in thinking you didn't go with Sani Service in the end Boumboum? Thanks again!

Hey Cocopops! Was told the same thing when I went in April but when I called yesterday to book an appt they told me she had left and (ofcourse) they didn't know where she had gone. Whilst she was on holiday I was treated by the docter there but to be honest I was'nt too impressed. So frustrating as I have had a previous negative experience and had just started with Yulia and was happy with the way she did things. Back to the drawing board!!!

Hi 4sidekicks! The landlord can sell the property with you in it - according to RERA there is nothing to stop your landlord from selling his property. The new landlord will however need to give you 12 months notice should he wish to move into the property himself. If on the otherhand, as your tenancy is up in November, the landlord could always refuse to renew your tenancy but to do so he would have to give you 3 months notice in writing ofcourse. Hope this helps.

I did read all this but in our particular case I am not sure either: Facts: - We live in this house since 2 1/2 years. - Contract renewal: 24 August. - Owner is a private person and LL is a real estate company (which he works for) - He now wants to sell the house, asking if we can recive potential buyers/real estat companies at the house - Our contract does NOT state how much notice he would have to give us Question: How much notice has he got to give us????? Hi Mai Tai, The answer to your last question is that to sell the house the LL has to give you 12 months notice as outlined by other posters here. However, if the LL wants he could also refuse to renew your tenancy and to do that the legal notice period required is 3 months. Verified by RERA as I went with a similar query earlier this week. Good luck.

I think cake and card would definitely do the trick - no need to go overboard this year...there's always next year and the year after etc. I suppose its the same thing with a new friend you meet - you wouldn't go overboard after a couple of weeks of meeting them!;);)

my view would be to say that UAE should make part timing legal, then expats would not need to pay such high wages (4k a month etc) to retain a live in maid all to themselves....that would stop the complaints along the lines of expats raising the market price for the locals, and everyone getting moany about those who do have part timer against others who follow the rules....a simple but practical solution and everyone benefits. Totally agree Loube - huge responsibility for sponsors especially should something go drastically wrong.

Where is the problem? You send her home, put a ban, and you move on. edited by Monkey Face on 16/04/2012 Do you send her home and put a ban on her because she wants to stop working for you as you do not allow her to undertake part-time work for other people? Is that even legal? edited by samdhi on 16/04/2012

[quote = It's not your problem. They will pay the price, literally. I disagree Monkeyface - it does become a problem for me when my maid who I sponsor legally wants to engage in this (working part-time for other families on her day off) because she sees everybody else doing this. I have sponsored her legally for the last 2 years and now the only reason she wants to move on is because she says she wants to find employers who will give her permission to work 'part-time'. @Magyera - sorry I wasn't referring to Agency maids....I know its perfectly legal. This is the reason why I am questioning people's practice of continuing to engage the services of illegal maids when they could do so legally via an agency. Edited to add response to Magyera edited by samdhi on 16/04/2012

Hi Dreampony, I am in the same position as you and I will start looking 6 weeks before the start date. I plan to trawl through the classifieds and put an ad out (which will inundate me with lots of phone calls!) and hopefully I should be able to narrow down the search to the 'one'. If you look at the classifieds right now they are lots of maids looking for an immediate position or lots of people who are on visit visas and looking for employment. if you start looking too early - chances are that the person may not be willing to wait for a couple of months or may even accept your offer and carry on looking for a better offer somewhere else (happened to a friend of mine who agreed to wait for 2 months). However, if you are looking to go through an Agency that will bring a maid into the country for you - then I am sorry I have no advice on that...may be somebody else can help. Hope this helps.

HIGH FIBRE AND LOW GI.... I love this receipe and have lost count the number of times I've made it! 4 Tbsp crunchy peanut butter 4 Tbsp clear honey 100g porridge oats 50g sultanas 1Tbsp stoneground wholemeal flour Non-stick cake tin, 23cm x 15cm - makes 8 bars Preparation 10-12 minutes 1. Put peanut butter and honey in saucepan and heat gently until melted - takes about 4 minutes. 2. Add oats, sultanas, and flour and stir until thouroughly mixed with consistency of crumbs. 3. Pour mixture into cake tin and press with the back of a spoon. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 190C/375F/Gas 5 for 15 minutes. 4. Leave in tin until cool, then cut into bars. Leave until completely cold before removing from tin. 5. Bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks - not that they last that long as they are so scrumptious!!!! Enjoy.

I normally find it hilarious - but yesterday when I was in the supermarket this lady was wearing the darkest shades ever and then proceeded to bump into me and stood there staring at me (with these super dark shades- so who really knows what she was thinking) and for the first time ever I just walked off instead of saying sorry! Just to clarify - Iwould have said sorry if it was my fault regardless of whether the person was wearing shades or not!!! edited by samdhi on 12/03/2012
