Hi Ladies, I have suddenly come into a position where I need to find a job asap. I have looked on here and applied online and circulated my CV to any contacts I have but I am wondering if any of you ladies that are currently employed in the IT sector might be able to assist? Most of my work experience is NZ based. Any help would be much appreciated. TIA. =) edited for typos. edited by marmarina on 07/10/2012

Ohhh!!! Thanks wikkid!!! That's brilliant. I will try it again tomorrow. Might have to go get me some edible pens because I am hopless with the brush. I tried to just layer small circles of different colored fondant on top of each other to create the eyes but it just looks so "fat" and googly.... defintely not an Izzy look. lol If I can just get Izzy then she'll be happy, I don't have to have the whole crew! :) I did call Project Cupcake and they said they would be able to make it but I want to try first. Must be the DIY culture I come from taking over... lool

It's the face that I keep stuffing up.. I get it to look like a person (albeit maybe not a sane person) but never to look like Izzy from Jake and the Neverland pirates... I guess I will have to order them if I cannot make them. I was hoping that mummy could say she made her cake all by her self but gotta realise my limitations I guess. =) I will give Project Cupcake a call. =) Thanks ladies.

Thanks ladies for all your replies. Really appreciate it. :) After a lot of looking around and researching, I think I am gonna go with one of those Kidville parties. From what I understand they can pretty much organise the whole thing and they have loads of themes to choose from. :)

Hi Ladies, Wondering if anyone had any ideas of where I could host my little girl's birthday party. Her birthday in August but I am planning to delay the party until mid September as the weather is really hot! Usually, I would just have it at home but not sure if the weather will be ok around that time. Any ideas on where I can host it other than Magic Planet, etc... There are a few kids who will be invited so would rather avoid having it at home this time round. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in Advance. =)

Hi Ladies, Thanks for your replies. :) I have applied for Gems Wellington DSO and she has an assessment tomorrow as she currently follows a Montessori curriculum. But I don't think they have realistic expectations of her abilities which I am a bit concerned about. She turns 5 in August so we are trying to get a spot for Year one. I asked the lady what the assessment involves and she said writing her name (which she can do), the alphabet, spell three letter words and do simple math! I am a bit confused as she is only 4.5 and back home, kids only start school at 5. I am a bit bummed out as I feel she won't get in now and we had our hearts set on that school. :( They said if she doesn't pass that they'd offer her a spot in FS2 but then she would be 5 surrounded by 4 year olds and I am not sure how that would be for her social development as shouldn't she be placed within her peer group (if we get a spot that is)! Sigh!! :( Repton is full, GEMS World is a bit outside our price range, planning to try DAA as I heard it's good. First time I hear about Safa school, what's that like? Haven't tried JESS as I heard they are oversubscribed... This schools thing is doing my head in as I now feel that we kinda disadvantaged her this year by placing her in her current school. I mean if she is meant to know how to spell and do simple math, then maybe I have set her behind. Anyway, sorry about the rant. :(

KARAZY MAMA - How do you go about building your own house here? Are expats allowed to buy land? Very interested in how this works. I thought Emaar Residences were good or are they of shoddy quality too?

Thank you very much for your feedback ladies. I was going to hold off initially until he is 12 months before giving him fish but the NZ guidelines said that he can start eating fish from 6 months as Omega 3 oils are good for babies, etc. So, I thought I would give it a go. :) This at least gives me a good list to take with me to the supermarket. Last time I went I couldn't recognize any of the names as we have different species back home. SO, canned fish is OK to give baby? For some reason I was under the impression that it had to be fresh, but if canned is OK in the case of Salmon at least then that would make my life so much easier. :)

Hi Ladies, My little boy is 8 months now and I would like to introduce fish in his diet but I am not familiar with the kinds of fish available here so nots sure where to start. I was going to give him Hamour but then read that it had high mercury levels and hence not safe. Just wondering what other mummies are doing? What do you give your babies? TIA

Sorry to resurrect this thread but has anyone used the pediatricians at the AR clinic? I am using Dr. Omayma in Motor City and she's fantastic but I don't think the accept my Bupa card. Heard the AR clinic does. Any feedback as I have to get bubs a check up and catch him up with his vaccinations. He's 8 months. All feedback appreciated. TIA.

Ok, update. Gecko has been removed safely and is happily playing and running around in our yard. DGIN - Only reason I wanted him out of the house is because I get really freaked out by the creepie crawlies... call it a phobia. I certainely did not want to hurt him as he is pretty harmless... Hubby just got him to climb on a piece of cardboard and then took him outside and let him run wild in the yard. More food out there for him anyway. So I am happy and I am sure the gecko is happy. :) Thanks too everyone who responded. :)

Well, that's comforting. :) I wonder if we would succed if we use a large piece of paper and get him to climb on it and quickly take him outside. Hmmmm.... Might be too quick for that...

Hmmmm... Well, I will stay put and watch him for now and hope that DH has a spark of genius... Just worried that my 8 month old DS would find him and attempt to put him in his mouth as he is at the stage where everything needs to be tasted first - him being teething and all. SIGH! Edited to say Thank you for all the info. :) Much appreciated. edited by marmarina on 18/11/2011

He looks brown, seems pretty harmless, but if I want to move him without hurting him, which will be hubby's job, how do I do that? It says on the site that he is pretty fast....

How do I know if it's a gecko? It's kinda tiny and hasn't moved from it's spot. I don't want to hurt it, just want it out as I am just as scared of it as it is of me. :( Thanks! I will google that article. =)

Synthia - Egg shells? Really? How does that deter them? As soon as hubby gets rid of it whenever he eventually gets home, I have no problems cracking all my eggs and using the egg shells if that will keep them at bay. =D

I know it's probably harmless... I am just scared of insects/lizards, etc... creepie crawlies in general. Quite possibly being a wimp here. =) AmyAus82, I am in a Villa. Currently surveilling it from afar until DH comes home to deal with it. Still totally freaked out though.... =( So tempted to knock on the neighbour's door but don't want to be labelled crazy. lol

Yeah, I thought about that as well, that maybe it's an eco friendly thing but I was wondering if there is any other way to estimate the amount of powder that goes into the wash other than a random wild guess. If not, I guess I can keep guessing and bring one back with me next time I go back home for a holiday! lol So random!

While you get a few options when it comes to resolution, it usually depends on your laptop screen and what it's specifications are. For instance, if I use 1920 x 1080 on my laptop, my screen cuts out bits of the page because although I get that as an option, my screen can't handle it. It should have come preconfigured by default. If not, have a look in the manual for the recommended specs. :) HTH.
