My children are desperately missing our cat, Elizabeth, who had to be left behind in the UK. so they would love to look after him. They are ages 12, 10 and 2, so he would have plenty of company. We are in Alfardan 5. Looking forward to hearing from you if you still need someone. Dionne

thank you all for your responses. they are helpful and reinforcing what i further investigated. namely that the banks dont differentiate between renting the main home, as in our case, and renting a second home for an investment opportunity. plus the banks are being incredibly greedy, but then, what's new. i am going to go through a broker to deal on my behalf, because i am totally hopeless at working these things out (remember learning about compound interest at school, never thought it would have such a bearing!) i really am grateful for your responses because i now have some ammunition and information which i can use in my negotiations tomorrow. once again, thank you all for your help.

hi kitsune i totally sympathise. my migraines started when i was about 10.. my daughter's started at 8. i was under a neurologist for some time. i found huge and almost immediate relief after he put me on a very low dose anti-depressant. i was headache-free for about a year, but they slowly came back. if it is any relief at all, they tend to 'burn' themselves out in your mid to late 40s. i am imminently 48 and from a state of near-constant headache, i have one only once every few months. not to alarm u, but are u familiar with the research on migraine being connected to hole in the heart. you might want to get that checked out. good luck.

hi sunflowers i am about 15 years qualified as a clinical psychologist - so a bit ahead of you! I work with children and adults and in the UK specialised in expert witness work and child protection cases (very, very stressful). I too saw that ad, but decided not to go for it. I understand there are some research studies happening at the primary care level. Research assistants are needed, but it is mainly basic data collection and number crunching. I approached someone locally but it was intimated that i would be over-qualified. I think the same would be for you too. I will contact you on your email. it would be nice to meet fellow psychologists in doha.

i recently used a top loader whilst on a long stay in the caribbean. lots of washing every day with three children. the top loader was great. i could soak clothes in it, do hand-washes and add things mid-cycle. it also held a much larger load than a top-loader. it took up a lot of space which is why i think they are not so popular in british homes. but it was fantastic. if i had the choice now i would definitely go for a top loader.

Hi Maple I am a Clinical Psychologist, not Occupational, so I am not familiar with those tests. I would however like to make contacts with other psychologists in qatar. I understand there is an active group. do you know anything about this? perhaps we can meet when i arrive next month.

try 'book lending.com' , where as the name suggests you can 'borrow' kindle books for free. also try 'kindle chronicles' a weeklypodcast which covers all aspects related to kindle. you can dowload on iTunes and there is also a blog of the same name, with links to free sites. I am on my 4th kindle, having variously killed three within two years! i currently have the basic kindle, wifi. do you have any problem with downloading in qatar? i am contemplating getting the new kindle paperwhite in 3g, but if the reception is good i will stick to wifi.

Hi sunflowers I have not yet got to qatar, due out at beginning of october. I had no luck with sending my CV out, despite assistance from people on the site. I thinking I may have to make contacts in person. I am also not sure how psychology and other 'talking cures align with arab culture and sensibilities. In hope however, I am bringing all of my psychometric test materials with me. There may be a need for psychology services amongst the expat community, either adults or children. (I am totally shocked at how little provision the schools make for children with special learning needs, it seems you are on your own in that respect). what area of psychology are you in? I would love to get in touch.

Hello ladies I am new to this forum so please bear with me, as I'm sure this question has been asked loads of times! My husband has an offer for 55,000QR per month. The company is paying medical, bills and 60% of school bills. We have three children, ages 12, 10 and 2 (my late surprise!). We have a five-bed house here in the UK and would be looking for a property of a similar size. I need some general advice on whether this is a reasonable package or not (he has been unemployed here for over a year, so that's an issue too). Also, I am a Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate degree. I specialise in working with children and families. What do you think are my prospects of getting some work too? I have approached some agencies, but have not got any replies. This may be the deal-breaker to our coming or not, so I would really be interested in any help/info on the matter. Thank you all!
