Thanks Madge. I hope it will be different if there's already a court case in process. Also I suspect the guy has never paid, which will total hundreds of thousands I expect :( I am going to meet Nakheel later this week to discuss, so if anyone has any success stories/precedents, please let me know!!

I am basically in the same position as Hairy Maclary last year (from reading her posts) , with LL defaulted, left Dubai and a court case against him. Obviously he's not going to pay any outstanding community charges, meanwhile our rubbish is piling up here on the Palm. Did Hairy Maclary or any others reach a solution with Emaar/Nakheel? Any help much appreciated, thank you.

Hello- resurrecting this old thread as I too have the same issue as OP. Does anyone know where to buy the white swimming pool grating? @Nikki63, did you ever find a reasonable supplier? Thank you!

Hi Sami - thank you very much for your reply, and what an amazing story for you and your little one. It's so encouraging to hear positive experiences as it's all a bit scary at the moment (as I am sure you understand very well). Thank you as well for the info on the consultants, it's useful to know the lie of the land before we end up there. Good idea about the hospital grade pump, it sounds much more efficient than the medela (that's what I have now), so will definitely look into that. I will let you know if I need any more info/support when I am actually there! Thank you very much again.

Brilliant, thank you so much for all the information, that's great. I have an electric pump and its really good that bf can still work well in these situations; it really sounds like you have done an amazing job btw. I will digest it all a bit and I'm due for another scan with my ob this week so hopefully will find out a bit more about what care he thinks the baby will need then. I hope it'll all be okay. If I come up with any questions I reserve the right to come back and pester you ;) Thanks again for your help.

Hi crazy days, thank you so much for your reply that's really reassuring! I am also from the uk, although don't have your experience of children's wards etc :). I don't yet know what support she will need, I guess they won't be able to tell till she arrives. It's good news about expressing / feeding room though as I am keen to feed the baby and was feeling down that I might not get to hold her and do that. Can I ask if you stayed in hospital for the 8 days till your lo could go home? Also, which doctor did you feel was really good? Did you also have extra follow ups after you got home? Thank you very much for your help!

Hi Happy - didn't want to read and run. Sorry you are going through this. I had an issue identified at the 20 week scan here where one of the symptoms was an enlarged bladder. The issue I had was related to the baby's kidneys. Not sure who your OB is but I would recommend Dr. George Michalades who is at City H and specialises in early pregnancy scanning etc.. I found him to be amazingly supportive during this time for me, and was able to put me in touch with doctors in the UK (where I am from) in order to investigate further. I am not sure about Edward's syndrome as this was not the issue in my case. Please let me know if you would like to chat further - happy to post my email if needed.

Hi there, sure it's 04 3644164. This gets you through to the community office for the fronds on the palm and I think both Rima and Suzan work there.

Hi Aylaali, I mean the waterfalls at the end of the fronds where the canal cove villas start. There are some big grey rocks and they used to have a constant waterfall on that really helped the circulation of the water. Nakheel said this was a key cause of the algae blooming (it's a combo of stagnant water and temperature/uv light I think). So the idea is if they fix the waterfalls that should help to prevent the algae coming back once they have cleared it. She said they were starting to clear the algae on L frond now and then had prioritised them according to how bad they were. I think they are also taking into consideration people's complaints so I would email/call them too as they might prioritise your frond!

Oh not really! Just because I was emailing her asking questions about algae and waterfalls etc etc! Spoke to her colleague Rima today who was super helpful about explaining the process for security passes and also confirmed that the algae was going to be cleared up and waterfalls fixed by December... watch this space!

Hi A Rancher and Lally, just a quick note to say a big Thank You for your gardner recommendations that's great and I will definitely follow up with them - there is hope yet! If you don't mind me asking, roughly how much do you pay? I currently pay 350aed per month and the guy comes 5 times a week - is it ball park in comparison with you? Thanks again for your help!

Hi all, thanks for joining in the emails to Nakheel, hopefully that will help re: algae. Unfortunately I also don't know how to change the title of the thread :( @Aylaali, I would also love to know more families with kids on the palm, so happy to be part of another thread too :). I think that maybe our schedules are a bit too different for meeting up at the moment - I tend to crash after the Los head to bed, sounds like that's when your social day starts!!

Okay, still no response from Nakheel - here are the contact details for the Community Officer. Maybe if she receives a few more emails asking them to do something about the algae they will do something??! Suzan Al Zinati <[email protected]>

Still no news from the Nakheel woman yet - she is usually quite responsive, so let's see. We have been on the Palm for 5 years and this year is definitely the worst. They sent the cleaners to rake the algae up earlier in the year, but after the summer it's all come back! Eugh. We're renting btw.

Hi there, I live on frond A, my kids are quite a bit younger though at 2.5 and 6 months. Although always happy to meet up :) In terms of the algae, yes we have it too - it's horrid! The water between fronds A&B is very green at the moment, probably not helped by the waterfall at the end of the frond being off... I emailed the 'Community Rep' Suzan at Nakheel today about it, so will let you know when she replies.

Hi there, I just wanted to add that I am also watching this post VERY closely for tips and advice - 37 weeks tomorrow and DS is just 2...Panic is just setting in with how on earth I will manage with a newborn again and a very active toddler! At the moment, I am struggling to see how I can possibly leave the house, and I really, really hope it gets better before the new baby is 2 or I too may just go mad! I too bought the GF book, but tbh I don't know how this will go down because I didn't do it for DS, and obviously will depend a bit on how the new baby is... One question for DC and others who have been through this - is/was your toddler in nursery when you had your second? Did you find it useful to have some time with just you and the new baby or did you juggle between the 2 LOs? My DS is not in nursery so I am planning to be a full time juggler (!) - any thoughts most welcome!

Thanks everyone! I have had a couple of people round and they think they can fix the existing heater - so fingers crossed it won't break the bank! I think I will start a maintenance contract with thosepoolguys too - they seem quite good, so thanks for the reco's!

Hi there, I use Mr Ganesh (050 7950748) who did all my curtains but also recovered my outside cushions and made new ones for the chairs and sunbeds. He is always running late, so don't be put off if you have to reschedule ;) BUT it's worth it as I found the quality to be excellent and reasonably priced too. Make sure to tell him to bring the material book for the outside material when you call. Good luck!

Hi ladies, Does anyone have a contact for the Garden Company? They came to see what I wanted to do with my garden, and were supposed to show me the design on Monday this week, but have disappeared, not picking up their phone or answering messages! The number I have is Stuart on 050 1580548 - anyone have an alternative??? Thank you!

Debsdebs, it really sounds as though you're doing a fab job and everything right! I agree with meals, maybe increase the calories in the solids she is taking. My mum swears we thrived on things like roast chicken and homemade gravy, so you could always give that a go?! I also used to find when DS was that age that giving a bigger meal for lunch was a good option as then you can be a bit more relaxed in the evening for supper. Good luck and let us know how she goes

Hey there... I read in the baby whisperer that sometimes this can happen if LO feels unfamiliar with their cot. Suggestion there is to put her in the cot during the day when she's awake and happy, with some toys if necessary to keep her occupied. You stay in the room tidying etc. and gradually when she gets used to it, leave the room for a few mins etc etc. Idea is that if she sees her cot as a 'happy' place when awake that will help her to feel comfortable when going in there to sleep too. Other thing you could try is doing a nap time 'ritual' in the same way you do the bed time wind down, but shorter. Maybe read a book together or something so she knows what's coming? Good luck - I know how crucial daytime naps are to keep the night time on track!

I finally got a fitness dvd (never done that before and was quite skeptical) but it's brilliant! It's called 10 minute solution blast off belly fat! I do about 30 mins a day while DS is napping, and I think I can tell some difference. It has different sections and really focuses on the abs. I got it on Amazon for about £3. Good luck!

I have the same thing! DS waking between 5-6am for about a week now... mind you he has always been an early riser. Trouble is he is at the stage where he is like a coiled spring in the morning he is now so eager to get up and go he won't stay playing in his cot any more!

Hello everyone! My 15 month old DS has never been a great sleeper. He has gone through periods of sleeping all night (i.e. 12 hrs from 6/7pm to 6/7am) but that is not usual! Now he seems to have started waking up wanting to talk/play etc. whether it is midnight or 4am...he looks so tired and obviously needs more sleep I think. I can sometimes get him back to sleep with a warm drink, sometimes not, which means being awake for some time in the night/ v early starts :( Is this just another phase? (I seem to just swing from one phase to another, developmental/teething/ill/separation anxiety etc!!) Will we ever reach a 'normal' night's sleep??? Does anyone have any tips /advice (even if it's just go with it - it's just what happens?!) Thank you!

Yes!! I have resorted to breaking them up into pieces and putting other (more healthy) things in empty mini cheddars packets as DS has learned what that yellow bag means :)

DebsDebs, my son is at Hummingbird, and generally he sleeps quite well in the sleep room and usually it's attended to. I would talk to Josephine - she is really great. Also, pay a couple of unplanned visits - we did this a few times when he first started there. I also just walked into the sleep room a few times on my way in to check the set up (rather than someone always going and getting DS for me). Hope this helps - happy to chat further if you like too.

Hi all, Congratulations everyone! I am also due in June and have a 1 year old boy as well. I am so pleased there are some others there doing the '2 under 2' thing - most people seem to think it's a bit crazy! Is anyone thinking of sending their elder ones to nursery? Our little boy already goes to Hummingbird as I am still working, but am thinking of moving him to one closer to where we live, and doing a couple of mornings a week to give me some with the new baby. I am also not going to find out if it's a boy or girl this time I think (if I don't accidentally see on the u/s!) Hope it will be a nice surprise at the end of 9 months :)
