suze, Those were just a few (and the most tolerable) of the long list of daily, persistent symptoms I had for months. Refer to the original list. It has been a very difficult time for me, and I'm aware I'm putting myself out there for ridicule, but it's worth it if I've helped someone. I'm done with the silly commenters. If any of you do experience any side effects, please report to the medical regulatory body in your home country. If you are one of the unfortunate ones to have a reaction, there is support for you! Take care! :)

My doc confirmed it is Dysport that was used. I did have heart palpitations at times and a racing heart sometimes as well. I had slurred speech for the first 10 days after inital onset of symptoms. My tongue seemed pinned to the bottom of my mouth. The muscles were just not responding. The tongue and speech issues resolved a day after I had a cranial massage by my osteopath.

Empower yourself with knowledge. Make an informed choice! Excuse the cut and paste. Allergan is the maker of Botox. A federal jury in Virginia has ordered Irvine-based Allergan to pay $212 million to a man who says he was left brain-damaged and bedridden after receiving Botox injections to ease trembling and cramps in his hand. Dr. Sharla Helton, of Oklahoma City, won a $15 million lawsuit against Allergan over the side effects of Botox, which she says left her in constant pain and partially paralyzed. A jury agreed that Allergan had failed to disclose potential side effects. Dr. Sidney Wolfe, director of Public Citizen’s health research group, which successfully petitioned the Food and Drug Administration to add a “black box” warning label to packages of Botox, said the verdict will raise awareness among patients and doctors of potentially lethal complications. “The public just needs to know more about the risks than they do now,” Wolfe said. “They know about the benefits.” "Botox and Botox Cosmetic may cause serious side effects that can be life-threatening," reads the warning that the FDA now requires injectors to give to all Botox patients. "Death can happen as a complication if you have severe problems with swallowing or breathing after treatment with Botox or Botox Cosmetic." Allergan urged the FDA not to require the use of the word "botulism" in Botox warnings, according to documents entered as evidence in court. The company argued that botulism is not a common enough ailment that naming it would help doctors and patients spot the drug's side effects. The FDA rejected that plea and now requires the Botox medication guide to list "symptoms of botulism" as potential side effects, including problems with swallowing and breathing. Ladies, if you look up the symptoms of botulism and then go to the ‘Botox Support Community’ website, a positive correlation of Botox and botulism symptoms is evident. I’m not saying don’t get Botox. I just think we all have the right to be informed.

There was a time when smoking wasn't considered harmful. We all know differently now. There was a time when tanning in a sunbed was considered safe, or working on a nice golden tan was considered a 'healthy glow'. We know better now. There are many military personnel experiencing nervous system related and neurological side effects as a result of the anti malarial drug Mefloquine/ Lariam. Yet for now, the drug is shamefully still in use, but now is at least recognized as potentially dangerous to some. I have spent the good part of my life as a patient under the care of some brilliant specialists, and not so brilliant. What I have learned is that when it comes to the immune system and the nervous system, there is so much the medical experts just do not know. Our bodies are so susceptible to harm by meds, chemicals, and toxins. My grandfather died as a result of mixing wrong meds. I was prescribed meds, once considered safe, that are now banned by the FDA. Many years ago, unbeknown to me at the time, an ophthalmologist injected a banned medicine to treat an eye ailment. He used a different brand (the banned brand) without consulting me first. My point is that doctors use pharmaceutical drugs that are often proven later to be harmful. It is not the medical community such as emmsie's neurosurgeon who expose these drugs as harmful, but it is thanks to research institutes and US, the guinea ****, who take action. We should not have so much blind trust in the medical community when they are supplied with drugs from pharmaceutical companies interested in profits. I've appreciated the humour ladies! I never thought about getting Botox until this year, nearing 40!! I'm actually aging quite well, and got Botox as a preventative measure. I will now proudly wear my wrinkles as a symbol of wisdom gained from this awful experience!

You think Sands of time? (sarcasm) I've already paid my price in pain and suffering. I won't be lectured by you. I'm trying to inform others who might consider it for aesthetic and for medical grounds. Consider yourself exempt from my Botox warning, and move onto another's thread to cast your perfect judgement.

It's fascinating how my subject title specifically targets those who might be considering botox, but instead attracts responders who have nothing better to do than come on a thread -- that is apparently not relevant to them-- and criticize. Why not get off your electronic device and do something kind for someone else? I'm trying to get the message out that this treatment is harmful. Millions of people are getting it done and are told it's safe. There is virtually little info out there warning the public about the dangers. Those who want to hijack the thread to criticize my choice are doing a disservice to others who can benefit from reading about my experience. If you'd like I can start a new thread just for the haters titled 'mamasrock deserves everything she gets for being so stupid'.

Louise, SOME people judge harshly and are unsympathetic because they assume those who do choose to have Botox are self absorbed or vain. I'm simply stating to those who make that assumption that I'm not. Most botox recipients, like myself, try hard to live a healthy balanced life. Too many assume we re the frozen face, plastic surgery obsessed type. People are not coming forward publicly because they don't want to have to face the callous judgment of others. We've been through a horrible experience and although this is a forum to voice one's opinion, I will vehemently state to the trolls: this thread is not for you, but is for informative purposes. I've been in contact today with a lady who is enduring horrific symptoms in the ER. Why can't people just be supportive and compassionate. I don't get it.

April04, your judgement is not welcome. I'm here to help and support others! Try doing a Botox search on the internet. You won't find the symptoms I've reported unless you specifically list the symptoms. I've posted my experience to educate and deter those who are considering Botox or have already had it. I live a healthy lifestyle: no alcohol or cigs, healthy eating. I'm not self absorbed or a vain person. Lay off with the judgement. I was prepared to accept the well known risks of eyelid drooping or sagging, but nervous system harm is not well known. In fact, very few specialists and most medical professionals are unaware of the dangers. If they're not aware how are we supposed to know?? I went to one of the most highly regarded clinics in Dubai who specialize with aesthetic procedures. I asked specifically if there were side effects, and the dermatologist reassured me there weren't any serious effects other than superficial facial paralysis that can cause sagging etc.

I did ask what the side effects are, but the surgeon did not inform me. Zannie, how many times have we've been told it's safe by the industry, even by doctors? Do you know how many meds out there that have 'toxic' side effects for some patients? The fact that it is a toxin is irrevelant if the public are made to believe it is safe. The point is that the public has a right to know so that an informed choice can be made.

We' re moving back to Australia for a new job, so I need to cancel my maid's visa. Her visa was processed in Abu Dhabi. I hear the visa rulings tend to be applicable to both emirates, but I'm not certain. 1. If I cancel her visa midway through her contract year, will she have a ban placed on her? We can provide a no objection letter. 2. Can I take her to the airport 30 days after her visa is cancelled if I'm not her sponsor? My husband, her sponsor, will already be out of the country. Am I allowed, or does he have to do it himself? 3. Will I recoup any of the 5000 dhs back upon her exit? I heard that if the contract is broken by the employer, I waive my right to recoup the 2000 dhs (?) deposit. Is this correct? Sorry about all the questions. I did call immigration and searched the internet, but I received conflicting answers, so I would appreciate any help.

Mamasrock  replied : Dubizzle request title/ deed info. Did you provide that info, and do you know if the title/ deed info is made public, or is it only for Dubizzle's records?? Question mark :) I tried to resist correcting, but my OCD side won out! :)

I can only say positive things about the elementary school. My DD is thriving at this school. The teachers, the curriculum, and the facilities are perfect for her. A++ However, I cannot give a rave review for the secondary school based on my child's experience there. Unfortunately, there are many problems the school needs to address. Positive observations of GWA secondary school are: The administrators have recruited highly talented teachers. They are amazing! My kids went to two other schools in Dubai before GWA. (Good teachers are at the top of my wishlist.) The facilities are conducive to optimum learning, and provide a holistic, creative environment. My child's favorite aspects of the facilities are the planetarium, film studio, music studios, DT labs, computer labs, writing center, and the pool. Overall, my daughter is socially content, highly motivated, more studious, and enjoys her project work. Negative things to consider: 1. The school is not selective in who is offered a place. I presume they need to recoup their costs, so they are trying to fill places and will accept anyone if they are willing to pay the high tuition. There are quite a number of students who are lazy, psychologically troubled, spoiled, and not academic- focused. I feel bad for the teachers who seem a little exasperated by this. In fairness, I don't know if this is the case for every grade or for only my child's grade. 2. There is a lot of homework. I wouldn't actually mind this if my child finished school earlier. School finishes at 3:45pm, and my DD has at least 1 1/2 hours of homework every night. She's about OP's daughter's age. 3. Students are required to surf the internet for research with little or no guidance as to where to find reputable websites, age appropiate information, and credible sources. This really frustrates me! What happened to the library, or teacher- reviewed internet sites? 4. Parents are not consulted about controversial material that the child might be exposed to, such as an R rated movie, inappropiate music videos, disturbing research material that would definitely be classed as R rated. Grrr! I would like GWA parents to be more vocal in opposing this. 5. Where are the textbooks? Some classes have them, some don't. I know of one family who pulled their kids out because of this. No school is perfect, and overall I would recommend it. In my view, I think it has the potential of attaining a reputation as a top, elite school to match and justify the ridiculously high tuition, but it has a ways to go. My advice if your DD attends GWA secondary, is to demand improvements where you see fit and assert your expectations to the teachers and administators.

I don't have a problem with a long duration, just the late finish. Childhood is over so quickly. I want them to have a happy life/ school balance.

It just doesn't seem worth it too move them to another school at this point if we're not going to stay much longer. We will probably leave in 1 year's time. We have our daughter enrolled in an excellent school in our home country, so it's more reason for us to go home sooner than we had initially planned. They have a 30 minute morning break, and a 25 minute break in the afternoon.

They start at 8:20 am, but would prefer an earlier start if it means a 3pm finish.
