Its fairly easy to get marriage ,education certificates attested in Dubai..We used Genius Attestation Agengy for our certificates issued from India & Wales. The person from that agency came home & collected the certificates & delivered them after the process was complete.

@stovetop- Thanks will check it out.. @beebers- I don't see the point of paying 16Dhs for a 200 ml flavorless-refined-to-the-last-bit kinda oil. Groundnut oil is used for everything at home..any sort of cooking or deep frying. Pure groundnut oil without any bleaching, refining or additives is actually healthy, back home we get it straight from factory to avoid all the additives from retailers.

@norak- Peanut is the seed inside a whole groundnut..basically the same. Seems like groundnut oil is not used by majority of people...cldn't find it in choithram's. @beebers- Waitrose oil is refined, its refined to such an extent, that when I open the bottle, I can't make out what oil that is, peanut oil has this very nutty kind of aroma ! if it wasn't for the label on the bottle..& also very expensive, for daily use that is...

Bannerghatta Road and the surrounding area is quite affordable..lot of apartments and good brands too, like Brigade, Prestige and Purvankara..they'l usually be rented out to MNC's..so will be maintained well..but there are water supply problems in these areas..especially sarjapur rd..will have take care of that issue. All the areas that I have listed below are suitable for walking around and are relatively safe, with the exception of Yelahanka, since its a little far away from the city sort of isolated. and south Bangalore is greener than any other region in the city. Believe me you really don't want to live anywhere in central Bangalore, the traffic is horrendous in that region !..just getting in/out of that area takes a minimum of 30 min's & this is not in peak hours !..and when you're trying to get home at the end of a long day from work, its really stressful.

Congratulations ! :) ..you're moving to one of the best cities in India..everyone raves abt the weather in Bangalore, but you'll see why.. :)....(...sigh..missing home !) :(..husband & I were born & brought up in Bangalore. Anyways back to your que's regarding properties...When we look for houses in Bangalore we narrow it down to the 4 compass points-North,South,East & West..I can advice/suggest regarding properties in North & South, South east Bangalore. South Bangalore consists of areas like Jayanagar, Banashankari,Padmanabhanagar, Basvanagudi (gandhi bazar/DVG Rd), Chamarajapet..these areas & in general south Bangalore is considered old Bangalore..old traditional houses dot these areas..also lot of apartment complexes have cropped up after the property boom. These areas are very good for families with kids or families who want a quiet lifestyle who are not into partying/pub hopping. Consists of lot of schools & colleges and convenient transport as well. Bottom line very affordable property rates as compared to north or central Bangalore South east consists of Areas like BTM Layout, Koramangla, Sarjapur, Indiranagar, HSR etc..this is sort of considered as new & 'happening' areas of the city. Good transport in & out of these areas..lot of schools, umpteen no of restaurants ! you'll be spoilt for choice. Again lot of pubs, watering holes,cafe's,malls.. downside is very expensive properties in these areas especially if you are planning to buy. North Bangalore consists of areas like Malleshwaram, Vijayanagar,Rajajinagar,Yelahanka etc...the first two are very old & expensive to buy. Yelahanka is relatively new in terms of properties..but very far away from the city. I wouldn't suggest this area especially for newbies in Bangalore. The first have loads of schools & colleges, good transport. Last time I was in the city (May 2012), noticed a lot of new malls & restaurants in these areas. Whew ! that's it for now :)... will update if I can remember anything else.. :)

We're moving to Dubai next month and based on what I've seen online, it looks like we will likely be renting a flat. We're a pretty frugal family and hate surprises. I want to know what I should be looking for in terms of hidden fees and such. I see some ads say "chiller free." What does this mean? Also, does anyone know where I can get reviews on particular buildings within developments like JLT? I saw one thread where people had commented on particular buildings being "bad" but there wasn't any further explanation and I know that what one person objects to may or may not be a concern for others. Thank you! (If it helps, Hey Meagle, The hidden costs completely depends on the real estate agent and the building management that you would dealing with. There are deposits like for electricity & the security deposit. ' Chiller free ' in Dubai usually means that AC facility is provided free of charges i.e no billing with the rest of the utilities. After you shortlist couple of places, try to find out about the maintenance of the place, like when was the last time the AC and ventilators were cleaned/serviced, who does it, whether the building management has an AMC with a reliable maintenance company, pest control/preventive care in the building and the frequency with which all of the above is carried out. If you are getting any appliances (cooking range, washing machine etc) with the apartment, make sure they are in good working condition (preferably carry out these checks in the presence of the person who is renting out the apt). Visit the place for a few minutes during the day as well in the night. Don't forget to read the small print on the contract before signing ! :) good luck

Well the bleach pen was a total bust ! some of the residue comes away after 10 mins or so but the dull gray color just stays there. The previous tenants didn't believe in cleaning & i'm stuck with icky looking white tiles in the kitchen :( ..maybe I should try vinegar..Thanks for suggestion Roxdv, will try Baking soda too..heard its a magic potion of sorts for household stuf..here's a link I found for various things using baking soda.. http://lifehackery.com/2008/07/22/home-4/ - Found it the ultimate electronic hoarding site..[ er..Pinterest ! Thanks for the suggestion Plum2 :) , but what about the fumes ?..especially in areas like kitchen...coz i have a LPG sensor in the kitchen, which apparently will sound an alarm even when strong cleaning liquids are used anywhere near it..
