Was given a Neilmed bottle recently by an ENT doctor here. Much better than the pot as you don't have to tilt your head sideways. Really like it as its gentle and you dont get that blast as you do with the spray bottles. If you can't find it in any pharmacies, try calling an ENT clinic as they're bound to have some

Highly recommend E Movers too. We've used them twice. Once intra Gulf and second time locally. Best quotes and great service. Not a single thing was damaged. The workers are extremely professional and you can tell they know their job well which takes some of the stress off during moving day

If you have the time, watch this 3 part story about a little boy named Sterling and his mom. It's a tear jerker but definitely worth watching ALL THE WAY THROUGH if you are at all curious in this technique... http://youtu.be/b8kfwRyKiD0

I really don't get the fuss most people are giving towards this. Honestly, do you really think the meat you eat at places like McDonalds is any better?! I know that most of the fast food joints now pride them selves on their "fresh" ingredients, but still. The way that most "meat" products out there are so processed, pumped with all sorts, even bleached to get rid of bacteria is just far more wrong than this...sooo......I'd personaly eat a fresh horse any day of the week! Don't certain nationalities regularly eat it, the French even? Pardon my ignorance if not.

Kittykat, would you mind me asking what the costs were? You have long hair too right? I would really like to have it done soon. This is the treatment that you can wash your hair straight away...or did you have to leave it alone for a day or two? Thanks!

We had this problem last year at the old "dog park" area in the greens. I wasn't there at the to e but friends saw a lady in Tanaro throwing pieces of meet down to where we all meet with the dogs in the afternoon, supposedly with poison inside. How this was proven to be true I have no idea, but they were all very concerned and annoyed at the time. Weeks later on of the young puppies in the group actually passed away after becoming very sick over 2 days. Her body was never taken to the vets so we don't know if she was poisoned or just sick. She was violently sick and had diarrhoea and her owner woke up the next day to find her dead in the living room. Very sad story as she was a beautiful little puppy and the life of the group! It's extremely sad to see the hostility towards dogs on an almost daily basis by other residents in the area despite this being a "pet friendly" neighbourhood...

Worked in brazil for a while and everyone cleaned their teeth after lunch! Good idea if you ask me. I'm Brazilian and can say that the same apply to us! Brushing at least 3 times a day - especially after lunch! Mum always drilled it into us as soon as we were done eating. Can't say that I still do it now though...!

Just bought my 2 year old Godson a 'Twilight Turtle'. You can find it at BabySouq.com They deliver it gift rapped already! I found it at their stall at a Christmas market yesterday... came home and switched the turtle on to see what it's like before rapping it myself and I think it's great! It projects stars and a moon onto the ceiling in 3 different colours. It's a great realistic size too!

We imported our cat and dog 2 years ago. Whole thing was very easy and we save A LOT of money by doing it ourselves. You need to log into www.moew.gov.ae and open a file for your pet. As the import permit has a short validity you will have to time it well. You will have to scan and email/upload all of the paper work required - valid export permit microchip numbers, vaccine cards, rabies shots etc. Once you have done that they will grant your import permit online. It's a little tricky to find but if I remember correctly, log into your claim and click on the claim itself (doesn't show up as a clear link to click on) and the permit will be there for you to print. It will also tell you exactly what you will need and how much to pay. It's pricey! The permits cost 3 times what the flight did (intra gulf for us so it was cheap). Make 4 copies of everything! One set will stay with the UK side, one set should stay with the pet (on the crate), one you keep and another for the authorities here. When they land meet them ahead of time at the cargo centre. They will direct you to the Government vet who will stamp the paperwork and receive the payment. He gives you a paper, you go back over to where your pets are (main cargo hold), pick them up, go home and live happily ever after!

I complete agree with you Wikidz! The idea of having something in your body releasing hormones just creeps me out. We are all sooooo different from each other that its almost impossible to have something labeled as "safe" for all. I know that generally these terrible side effects are only felt by a few but it is something that we should all be aware of none the less! I mean, just look at something as commonly used as tampons! A girl I went to school with became extremely sick and almost died with toxic shock symdrome after using them for too long at a time. At the end of the day the medical provisionals can only advise us. It's our own responsibility to monitor our own health and pay attention to what our bodies tells us. For me, the hormone free coil is the best option as my body doesn't seem to do so well with hormones! I was lucky enough to have a great GP back in the UK who guided me through all the different types of pills available and after 2 years of almost constant bleeds, migranes and bad moods we went for the coil - despite me being only 22 and baby free at the time.

Ladies, please also remember there are options which do NOT contain hormones - they are not usually offered as the first option and you have to ask! Don't fill your bodies up with hormones unless you need to for some medical reason! BH as usual is right :D the hormoneless ones are dirt cheap but then you do have the possible side effect of increased dysmen and flow. i have the hormoneless one and it is fab. no issues at all! Kelly, would you happen to know the name of yours? I would like to also get the hormone free one but Im wondering if I can buy it myself at a pharmacy and then take it to get fitted...probably at Medcare if the prices seem good... absolutely, it's called paraguard. not every single pharmacy has them but the one next to medcare on beach road did! comes in a giant box! really good value, i am sure only 120 AED? http://www.paragard.com/ also - don't listen to any horror stories about having it inserted (i scared myself silly reading on the internet about it) it hardly hurt at all and was over in seconds - and i've had no children. dr samah at medcare on beach road was great. they usually want to scan you first to check the size and shape of your uterus. they also asked me to have it inserted when i had my period, as your cervix is a bit more open then. sorry if this is too much information but it could be useful when planning when to go in. good luck, i wish i'd had mine done years ago! Thank you so much! That's great information! I have had one before, years ago fitted in the UK but had it removed after a couple of years as it had moved out of place. It's beyond me why I've waited so long to have another one put it!

Wow! I cant beleive that was over a year ago now! So, here is an update! We tried and now have been going to Fellowship of the Emirates since May last year. I completely agree with what others have written on here!!! This church is just amazing and we feel so happy and content to be a part of it. As the pastor there always says..."This is the church for people who dont like church!" Its very relaxed and fun. Bamber, Fellowship actually offer a "shared ride" service if you are not yet driving. You might find some info about that on their website. It really is worth the visit, even if you come by taxi just the once to check it out. Hi all! This is my very first post! My husband and I have recently moved here from Bahrain and are looking to find a church in Dubai. We live in Tecom! Can anyone suggest anything near by or relatively close to us? We are both Christians and are looking forward to attending services again! Many thanks in advance for any replies!

If somehow you have the space for it the after you do what Mariana has suggested (high heat), peace as much as you can in a freezer overnight. Pillows, sheets etc. they are killed off by extreme heat AND extreme cold so the best is to do BOTH. That's what the professionals first do in the US before using chemicals...especially in houses that have children. Watched a very interesting documentary on it recently as its becoming a massive problem in some states there! They are very versitile little creatures that can indeed make their own way through buildings etc. Dubai is becoming a hot spot due to its 'transient' location. Here they can be picked up on airplane seats, suitcases etc. Best of luck with it and hope it doesn't become an infestation!

We also thought it was pretty good. I think a lot of people easily forget where in the world they are living sometimes! Considering we are in a Muslim country, to be able to walk into a mini Christmas wonderland that has Mulled wine (with the special stuff in it!) and a pretty espectacular 30ft tree and Santa in his sleigh etc etc is pretty fantastic if you ask me! They play nice festive songs, the decorations look great and the little stalls are very traditional looking. Mini carbon copies of the stalls in the German Xmas markets. So there is only 5 or6 of them...? Who cares! It's nice to just walk around and get into the spirit of things! We took fantastic photos of the beautiful tree with the Burj sparkling away in the background. Definitely a nice experiance to have in Dubai! Even if you do only go there for 20 min... Just my opinion anyways! :) I think your will find I know very much where I live thanks!!! Glad you thought it was great, I didn't ! there you go. ...and a merry Chritsmas to you too! :\:

When I drove past it was just starting. Just spoke to a friend who lives a couple of buildings down and she says that the traffic has began to crawl past as everyone is looking at it now. Heading to the airport might still be ok, but coming back might not. Hopefully it will be under control soon enough

Close to where Tony Ramas is? Just past the DIFC, half way down that row of high rises there. Does that make sence? I think it's one of those "older" buildings that are around 10 years old. Its the first time Iv seen a fire that out of control. Pretty scary being in a high rise...it looked like it was already engulfing the apartment above

Just drove past, heading towards Abu D and saw the flames spilling out of the apartment. Fire engines were not on site yet but the fire was well and truly out of control already! Like a scene from Tower Inferno! Very very scary to see it that high up and so out of control. Hoping and praying that no one has been or will be injured :( Especially the fire fighters...

Hi everyone. It's my first time posting here under the pets section. I'm desperately seeking advice from anyone who has had any big vet work treatment done here in Dubai. I have a 3 year old, beautiful little fluff ball. I got her in Bahrain when she was 4 months old. She moved with us to Dubai 7 months ago. She suffered with ear mites (from the litter) and had it treated by a vet there. When she a little older and went in to get fixed her ear was still quite bad so they decided to "wash" it out whilst she was under but they had hit a nerve whilst doing that which left her with half her face paralyzed! She was a mess! The vet didn't even bother explaining anything to us at the time! Fortunately after a few weeks the swelling went down and her face went back to normal. Ever since then though, she has always been plagued by terrible infections :( She has been to the vets various times, but all they do is give her drops and just leave it at that. This week she had her yearly vaccinations done and once again I asked the vet to investigate. They took swabs and it showed that she has 2 types of infections. They are worried that her ear drum is burst and as they can see pus there, it really doesn't look so good. They now want to do a antiseptic wash for a week, then strong antibiotics and maybe operate to drain the ear fully. To check if this is needed she needs to have an X-ray. Can anyone recommend a good place for this? I'm not so happy with where she is now tbh and I'm finding their prices v high. Has anyone had X-rays done before! Any ideas of costs? Thank you for any information you might be able to give

How many of you in total? Might be a little late now but a great option is to hire a stunning villa/masion/castle somewhere! If you're staying in London. Go for an early meal somewhere central, like china town if that suits all tastes then head down to embankment for the fireworks! You have tonget there early though! Around 10:30 as the police limit the numbers allowed down there! If you're in then it's great as you're not packed in like sardines! Take some drinks with you and just enjoy the atmosphere until the display starts! If you need to catch the tube anywhere, it's an easy walk to the stations and if you let the growds go ahead of you the roads become a liitle easier to get around in! Clubs and restaurant deals are always the same I find. You might as well be anywhere in the world! But the countdown by the London eye is truly memorable and you can't beat hearing the sounds of Big Ben as you watch the fireworks!

I stopped to help a collapsed elderly man in London who had been passed by several people and ignored. He was well dressed and clean so couldn't have been mistaken for a "down and out" As a nurse, I recognised that the man was in a diabetic coma so stayed with him while my friend popped into a nearby shop to call an ambulance. (This was before the era of mobile phones). Having been to China and experienced great politeness and friendly help when required, it is wrong to dam a whole nation. The story was relayed on Chinese TV and many people were horrified. During my stay in Doha, I was strongly advised never to stop and help anyone who had collapsed in the street or mall etc as you could be in so much trouble if you did help and the person died. There is good, bad and apathy in every country. Really, if someone here is choking or fainted or anything? shouldnt help? no cpr? wow. I attended a refresher CPR course here recently and was absolutely shocked to hear the instructor tells us to NOT help anyone here in the streets/shopping mall/your local area - swimming pool etc!!!! He said that if you are at your work place then yes, go ahead and ASK if they require your assistance. Apparently in your work place your company's insurance will cover you (and your bail) if that person later dies and you are jailed! If you are out on your own, in the street, accord g to him you might as well turn a blind eye, call for an ambulance and try to live your life happily ever after! I was sooooo shocked I still haven't been able to get my head around it, months later! I mean, it's common sense that you would only do what you are trained to do and nothing more, but to know that you might potentially save someones life if you saw them choke, faint, bleed profusely etc in front of you but did nothing for fear of being jailed is just sad!

Dr Madhu's clinic is perfectly clean. The building is rather scruffy but once you step I to his office it's a completely different story. Went to see him for a filling that had fallen out. Had to have an injection to numb the area and I didn't feel a thing! He was SO gentle with the needle it didn't hurt or sting at all and I hate needles! I also needed to have wisdom teeth removed but he was unable to do it there. Depending of how yours is, he may or may not be able to do it. Good luck and don't worry about it! I only went there because of the recommendation from here and was very pleased!

I've just been in Boots to check out the baby lotions but wasn't 100% sure which ones were being recommended on this thread. I saw a pink bottle of Baby Lotion - said it was moisturiser and cleanser - is that the one? Thanks! Are you wanting a moisturizer or make up remover? The one I have been using for years now to remove eye make up is the Johnson's Baby Soft Wash that comes in the pink bottle. As I mentioned before it really works great for me because it's easy on the skin, sensitive on the eyes so you can really wash everything off (eye liner) without any irritation AND it smells great! My face is as soft as a baby's b... Lol Johnson's also make an adults version of the soft wash but after trying it I still prefer the actual baby one (big pink bottle) HTH edited by ABF on 27/08/2011

Unfortunately FaceTime (Apple's version of skype) does not come installed on them here! That seems to be the only big thing missing from it. In regards to the apps, that all depends on which iTunes account you are registered to. The UAE store has very limited options on it. You may open a UK or USA account which will allow you to download all the free apps but if you wish to buy credit you will have to register a credit that from that particular country or somehow get yourself some vouchers from there. HTH!

Oh and by the way, the "very low frequency" that I mentioned earlier is not even an X-ray! Those machines operate by emitting a very low electromagnetic field. No X-ray radiation there!

First of all Congratulations! There is no need for a certificate until you are over 28 weeks! And about the metal detector, it is perfectly safe for you to go through! It uses very low frequencies so it's fine! You will be more exposed to radiation during the actual flight than by walking through that or even getting an X-ray done! You're flying fly D so it's a short flight anyways! Nothing to worry about at all!!! Happy flight and best of luck with the pregnancy!

Got a bottle of the "Pure Oil" today at one of the little stores at Souq Madinat - Orient Spirit Trading. They actually had a small selection of the stuff there. Face creams with it as the main ingredient etc but I went for the pure stuff on it's own as I would like to use it on my hair too. The idiot that I am didn't even pay attention to the exact location but it's a big ish store that sells mostly embroidery, nice quilt blankets, souvenirs, silver tea pots with the cute little multi colored cups. I know that pretty much sums up 98% of the stores in there but it's the best I can do for now :( If you do go hunting for it, just look out for the store that has the nice silky blankets/quilts/photo albums! Seemed to be the only one that sold mostly that

Best thing to do then by the sounds of it, is to buy one of these mentioned creams from bellow with the RetinA in it and add a tiny drop of the argon oil in it! I think Emirates are getting too big for their boots right now. They are almost double for every route at the moment! I have booked to go with BA to Dublin via Heathrow in 2 weeks time and it was fraction of the cost of just getting to the UK with Emirates. My DH travels to Cyprus and Saudi a lot too and he said the Emirate plane to Cyprus is like a wonky old bus and with KSA they are double the cost of Saudi Airways or Fly Dubai. Another thing that really annoy sme is the cost of tickets from here ro the UK as opposed to Uk to here. In November it is 2,320aed for DH brother to visit, for us to go the other way is almost 4,300aed? How does that work!! BA for me, although i'll let you know in 2 weeks! It's because of the airport taxes? But still, that's ridiculous! and very annoying :(

Oops! Meant to say that you CAN get a metro to the Trocadero! Lol Best food and most options are around the Latin Quater. It's a cluster of little cute streets filled with restaurants, cafes and bars. Short walk from Notre Dame so always best to tie the two up together with a late afternoon at the cathedral and an early evening walk around LQ to find the perfect restaurant for you! IF the queues aren't too long, try to climb up to the top of Notre Dame! Especially at sun set as you will get some AMAZING views of the city/river/Eiffel Tower and the gargoyles of the building! That for me has to be the best view of Paris! Argh! Can I come with you?! Lol ;)

I only ever use Johnson's baby wash! The actual baby one in the pink bottle, not the one marketed for adults. It's very soft on the skin and of course No Tears! So you can really wash off heavy eye make up with it with out having to rub a lot!

Hi Rebecca, For the best views of the Eiffel Tower head to The Trocadero! You can't get a metro there. Will onle be a couple of stops from your hotel. If you feel like walking lots (weather permitting) and want to take some nice photos ofnthe city by the river there is a great walk that I always recommend if you have half a day. Start at the Trocadero and after enjoying the views from up there walk down towards the tower. After crossing the bridge turn left and walk along side the river until you get to the Air France building. From there thurn left again and cross over the beautiful golden bridge (Ponts Alexandre III) and go straight. You will pass the Grand Palais on the right, keep going straight and you will end up on Champs Elyeese. Once on it go right towards Place de la Concorde. Try to cross it without getting hit by a million and one Renaults! Then keep going straight towards the gardens/parks that lead you straight to the Louvre! It's quite a walk but a very nice one as there is SO much to see on that route! If it's a beautiful day you will get the most amazing photos of Paris! Another great place to head to that I LOVE is Notre Dame and the surrounding areas. Don't miss the Pont des artistes! It's a wooden pedestrian bridge close to Notre Dame. It's my favorite little spot in Paris. During the warmer months you get lots of artists on there paints etc. The main attraction on it are all the hundreds of padlocks that lovers place on there to represent their eternal love. And that's what Paris is all about right! Enjoy your trip! You'll have a great time! Oh and don't forget to visit the Christmas markets! They will still be open! Bon voyage!

Very good point. I wonder then if Yellow Cakes would like to at least comment on how her operation actually went. Even though it was in a different country. Was it painful, which type did you go for. She's obviously glad she did it, but does SHE also think that they look good as we know the men obviously do. Guess that way it will stop us from diverting from the topic! :)

what's wrong with small boobs like? They look much better in bikinis and tops. I hate big boobs especially on older women who wants to look at a massive wrinkly cleavage yuck. Bigger is always better. I had mine done in 06 and the results were astonishing. Men that would'nt even look twice at me before were suddenly asking me out on dates. Best thing I ever did for myself Im a little lost by all this. Sima, a million apologies for diverting from the topic for a little while (and again, best of luck with the surgery - you seem like a gal who is doing it for all the right reasons!).... but, Yellow Cakes... if "bigger is always better" then how come you are willing to jeopodise your health by putting your self through the most ridiculous diet when you get here? Why not just stay as you are and be happy with your 'construction men' attracting curvaceous figure? I'm also happy to hear that the baby fat you are wanting to lose isn't actually pregnancy "leftovers" but excess weight you have had for 24 years since you yourself were a baby. I was sitting here wondering if the comments bellow were something that you would be repeating to your little one! I'm all for feeling good about your self as I'm sure 99% of all women are but as long as you do it for YOU. If men happen to appreciate the way you also look then hey, that's a real bonus! "Beauty without brains (or morals) is like a master pice painted on a napkin".

General rule with flying is that after 28 weeks you need a letter from your Dr. After 28 weeks you will need to get a letter from the airline's doctor. some will allow you to fly up u til 34 weeksbjt most is only 32! Hope that helps! As long as you have something that proves you are not 28 weeks yet then it should be fine as long as you are healthy!

Best thing I ever did for myself Just out of curiosity, did your self esteem grow just as big as your boobs did after the op? Do you think that's maybe why men are asking you out more? I hope so! If not, it just sounds sad that you think it took massive boobs to attract guys :( If anything, the way you wrote that just makes it sound like you're probably attracting the wrong type of men too! I'm glad it worked out for you though! Good luck Sima! Hope it all goes well and you get the results you are hoping for! Looking forward to hearing about it!
