I would recommend a dairy free diet, as this causes my son major tummy trouble, he's 2 years old and he is still dairy free! Cow's milk is often a culprit so I'd say its your first port of call. You'd have to cut everything out to see a difference though... A hypoallergenic formula, or if you are breastfeeding you would need to cut out all dairy. No chocolate, cheese, cream, white bread (milk powder in most of it!) argh! It's a nightmare, but for us well worth it :) xxxx

I've just thrown my son a digger themed party... I looked in a few shops and I'm afraid there's no Bob themed stuff anywhere here it seems! He's a big Bob fan too! :( x

You don't need half sleeves, short sleeves are fine... Some people wear wide strapped vests but I haven't other than when nobody is around :) it's a little chilly late on but it's warming up now and I rarely wear a jacket. Definitely not during the day! Knee length skirts are fine. No cleavage on show. It's common sense I think really. Everyone I know stressed about it then found its really not that tricky! Oh and every time I put jeans on lately (during the day), I regret it because I'm boiling ha ha... So that's a good guide maybe! Xxx edited by sweetestpear on 06/02/2013

Hey ladies thanks for all the fab suggestions! Sorry for the delay I forgot my password duh! Anyway, our friends who own the villa we are borrowing have offered to let us stay for another week so we may be ok, going to keep looking and maybe get a one bed apt for a bit, unsure... I've had lots of lovely offers of help so I'm going to muddle through for a few weeks as my mum can't really come over just yet. Pain is easier now, but am MAJORLY hating sitting on my bum :( ah well! The sun is back so all good :) thanks for all your help and we'll wishes xxx

Ah sorry! There is a housing shortage with his company. They provided temporary accommodation, but only for him not his family. We flew out knowing this and intended to stay in a hotel or apartment until its ready. The leg breaking has made things more difficult as I now need help so need to fly my mother out to assist with our son (so need two bedrooms). I've found somewhere in najma for 11,500 per month... Guess it could be worse but will keep looking! x

Thanks everyone sooo helpful!! I fly out on Wednesday yippee! Using Etihad as their baggage allowance is the best by far! Have a return flight in 30 days but hoping not to use it. One question... Do me and my son need passport photos for the visitors visa? Xxx

Hello really sorry I didn't see your reply! We are going to be offered a Barwa city apartment as accommodation and can find very little about it on the Internet. We were supposed to get a compound villa but my hubby's company have a housing shortage. We'll be moving in with our 17 month old son and I'm worried about apartment living, and the fact that its a building site! I don't even know if the swimming pool is built yet :( I'm flying over on Wednesday though so hoping to go have a look around x

Hello ladies! Thanks soooo much for your helpful replies! Sorry for the late response, have been listening to "hold" music all day over the phone grrrr!... JHI, to explain (I didn't want to bore everyone!). Hubby doesn't have his residency permit yet. He is signing his contract tomorrow morning, so he can then go on to fingerprinting and then apply for our family visa. It would be lovely if he had his permit before Christmas, but this is Qatar isn't it!... He will get a housing allowance or accommodation provided. We think we are going to take the allowance and top it up to get a villa. He won't get this though until all the paperwork is sorted... hence not wanting to commit to housing just yet, and wanting to stay with friends. He will stay there with us :) He is currently in (male only) temporary accommodation provided by his employer. I'm not planning on leaving Qatar without my hubby but we'll see, I may need a break from the heat! One more thing I wonder if you can clarify. We were under the impression that I would just be staying under a family visa... would I be best applying for a residency permit? Do you think I should be booking a return flight for in 30 days? Can I renew my visitors visa? Sorry!!... Google just confuses me further oh my goodness!! Thanks again, I can see this website is going to be verrrrrry helpful :D xx

Hello there! I was going to start a very similar thread so I hope you don't mind tagging this on here? I hope somebody can help... My hubby has been in Doha (from the UK) now for three and a half weeks. We were really hoping to get his residents permit sorted in time to get me and our 17 month old son out there on the family visa before Christmas. That's not looking likely now :( soooo we are hoping I can come on a tourist/visit visa. I believe we have to book a return flight for in 30 days... And hopefully not use it! My only concern is, through reading majorly conflicting things on the web is, can I come just me and my son? Do I need permission from my hubby, do I need a letter from a Qatar resident to say I'm visiting?? I'm so confused!! We are hopefully going to stay with some (Internet found) friends who have very kindly offered... But I'm worried about it all now! Hope I make sense... I waffle! Thanks x
