That must be it. Seems to be intentional? Even if this is the case I don't see why we shouldn't be allowed access from this region. Thanks sarahlou123!

Hi Daquiri, I am currently seeing Dr Elsa at her new clinic, which does not accept Insurance yet. It is all play and claim. I paid AED 900 at my last visit (550 for consultation and 350 for ultrasound).

Yup, you can do all of the typing, etc. with the required docs. Hubby's presence is needed only at the immigration.

The wife who beat up the maid until she died is mother to a 2yr old and and an 8month old!!! HOW can you be maternal (care for your baby, worry about the safety of other children, people, etc when you are a mum) AND show such violent rage towards someone. It's something else if you are doing it to protect your children from harm. Otherwise what am I missing here?

At every interview I've been to (and that's been quite a few :) ) I have always been asked that and never thought anything of it. I think it's just a Dubai thing. Thanks Geordie expat. Guess its one of those Dubai-isms... :)

Hey all! Has anyone used the Robocam from Maxcom.ae. This model was recommended by them for apartment use because it is super easy to set up (does not require their technician to come home). Here's the link just in case - http://maxcom.ae/robocam. Is it easy to set up? Is the clarity good?

Hi Dusha I feel compelled to share my experience with you, since like you I allowed my nice, honest and hardworking maid wifi access in our home to chat with her family and kids. She was addicted to facebook. She was with us three months when I noticed she was always on her phone and even when she was taking care of my baby (the whole reason for employing her). After telling her to access her phone only after the baby was asleep at night and all her work was done, she would still keep texting or whatever when I was in the room. She would also take the phone to the bathroom (for what?). Very annoying and extremely concerning. I could also tell from her behavior that she could not wait for me to leave the house whenever I had to run errands. I started to feel uncomfortable in my own home and could not sleep at night. Had to do sth about it. I managed to get her separated from her phone for a bit and scanned it immediately (I know its wrong, invasion of privacy and all that. but my instinct told me otherwise). On her phone I saw that she was 'sexting' and skyping random strangers and sending them naked pics of herself (taken in MY bathroom). She was also making arrangements to meet some guy in MY home. She is married with two kids and her husband works in another gcc country. Or so she tells me. Now what she does with her personal life, and who she wants to be with is none of my business. But when it starts to affect the safety of my child, the security of my home and safety/reputation of my husband (her sponsor), I draw the line. I immediately cancelled her visa and she was on the next flight home. No explanation was sought or offered. She understood exactly why I asked her to pack her bags. The look on her face was one of pure shame. Lost a lot of money but regained my peace of mind. I don't want to alarm you but want to warn you and other EWrs about what you should watch out for. quote=Dusha'>Hey mwashington, ma I was having a big problem with my maid's phone. Whenever somebody calls she used to answer her phone with no hesitate! It was so annoying! She was also a facebook addicted since I let her use our wifi. One day when I asked her to help me with something for cooking, she heard her phone rings. So she answered and talked until I finished the work that she was told to do. I felt so bad and was very angry. But didn't take any action right after as she is the one taking care of my baby. I waited until I see some more mistakes. So there was a day I had to speak to her all about this. First I noticed she felt very bad but from next day I saw she wasn't doing the same and it was much much better! She is a nice, honest girl, I like her

Hey kissymac, just went through this with our LL. He put up our rent by 10% and claimed to be following RERA rules (when RERA calculator said no increase). I went over to the RERA office in Deira and checked with them as well. They said no increase. They also said that the duration you have spent in the property is irrelevant. All we had to do was mention this to the LL. The following week we got notice to renew at the same rent, same terms. Definitely mention RERA, as a lot of LLs seem to be trying their luck, assuming tenants are ignorant about the laws!

Hi twin_butterfly, I had this and its relative (called 'browse to save') on my pc. Found out that it is some kind of adware/malware that takes over your browser (with no permission prompts or anything). Anyway, in googling I found out that it is not easily removed by doing an antivirus scan. I have Norton antivirus and their support or community forum was not of much help. I had to use all of the below listed solutions to rid my pc of the problem: 1 - Followed steps outlined in this website - http://malwaretips.com/blogs/browse-to-save-ads/ 2 - Cleared my cookies, reset Internet Explorer 9 default settings. 3 - Scanned my programs lists (In Add/Remove prgrams) for any suspicious or unfamiliar program names and uninstalled them. Apparently this adware installs itself with a seemingly genuine name. Also check the dates of the most recently installed programs. If you noticed this problem recently, it is possible this problem may arrived with something you downloaded very recently. 4 - Go to your browser settings (in IE Tools>Manage Add ons>Toolbars and extensions and select 'Currently loaded add ons' from the drop down menu under 'Show' and disable all the add ons that you can. Let me know if these helped! (If you google a bit you will find the same steps listed above as possible solutions) -Mascar

Hey Kaba you could try a store called 'Minutes'. They do repairs on watches among other things. Have had my watches repaired by them before. They are in the popular malls.

Chantal at Hairworks, Jumeirah for hair cuts. She listens, earnestly tries to understand what you want, offers lots of hair care and styling tips (depending on your lifestyle, e.g., if you have a baby at home, etc). She is supposed to be good with haircolouring too (I haven't had my hair coloured with her).

Tara.k you should find the carseat mirror for rear facing baby in Mothercare. It's the same brand that Babyshop stocks - Sunshine Kids.

Easy Daily Maids (04 2511005) also do 2- hour slots. Although they only give you the two hours post 4 pm or so, once their 4hr sessions are done with.

Nope the Dubai one on SZR is not open as yet. Drove past ealier today (couldnt contain my excitement!!!!) and it has 'opening soon' signs on the windows. It's closer to the Shangrila though and not Crowne Plaza; in the building just after the Applebees one. Funny thing there's a Starbucks located just next to this THs!;)

Good point, except that I am the complete opposite of a domestic goddess :( . This particular pair fits like a dream and I would hate to experiment on them! Thanks for the suggestion though, BrownEyedGirl :)

Was just on Emirates Road. There's a car on fire (Shj direction of Em Rd). No fire engines in sight (!) at the time. Lots of people standing by the road and dangerously close to the flames!!!!! Hope whoever was in the car is safe and sound!!!!!!
