I just wanted to advise you not to go to this dentist. I didn't listen to my husband :) and bought the deal on cobone for cleaning, scaling and polishing for 150 AED. First we had to wait for 1 hour for the dentist (with 2 babies) than the work was finished in 10 minutes as I have so good dental hygiene :):). I'm sure every cobone and groupon customer has it :):)

Yes evan I was researching on it, they don't discount it but if you go to the shop and ask for discount they will probably give it to you. Its so expensive, I'm not sure if its worth buying, is it really so much better than other blenders?

We went today, in my opinion far overcrowded, far too expensive and not enjoyable for small children at all.

It is very safe to put a child seat on the front seat and is allowed in many european countries but not here I was told http://www.carseat.se/are-car-seats-in-front-seat-safe/

We were also considering to move there but at the end decided not to. If we didn't have kids we probably would but with 3 small kids we thought its not so wise. Major reason:safety, especially if you are european-white skin, poverty (whenever I go to sleep I see street children in my eyes),its not clean-dust beans+toilets are not so common, horrible traffic. I love to visit the city but always happy to return to Dubai :)

I'm afraid you won't get a place in Wellington as they didn't contact you. You need to be extremely lucky someone picks up the phone and tell you that you didn't get a place. They only send email if you got assesment.:( Raffles had many problems but apparently really improved.

I'm not asking this question for myself or because I think people are wrong to register for schools so far in advance. It's just that logically I wonder if it's worthwhile. Having arrived here 9 years ago with a just turned 3 year old, I was panicked by people telling me I'd never get him into school (and there were a lot less to choose from then). We however, applied 18 months before he was due to start to the one school we saw and loved (perhaps a bit silly in hindsight, maybe should've looked at others!) He was assessed and got a place. So does it not happen this way every year, in that they only look at the applications in the year before and then make their assessments (whatever they may be) and offer places on that basis rather than who applied first? I can see that being on the waiting list a long time and passing assessment would perhaps be of benefit, but it seems so awful that parents of babies are worrying about school. Would just be really interested if anyone knows how the schools do it and if people really should be worrying so early. Just a topic for discussion really. Depends which school are you talking about. For outstanding schools; as per KHDA, it is not so important that you apply very early but its more "who you are and what connections you have".

My DS (11) has been at Raffles World Academy for 4 years now and has come on absolute leaps and bounds. Had an issue part way though Grade 3 when the teacher left and they substituted for months on end but other than that no issues. He gets up everyday looking forward to going to school. Thank you Egg, I went for an open day to Raffles south and did't like it so much but than I have heard that Raffles World Academy is much better. I will go for an open day next month.

http://www.arabianbusiness.com/the-scandal-of-uae-school-fees-485734.html?message=3 Its interesting to read how some outstanding schools in dubai actually only have 10-30 places (other go to siblings, nursery priority, connections....) and let hundreds of parents register :)

[b'>She probably is referring to KHDA reports[/b'>. IMHO, EIS has been there longer, has a more established reputation which is why I'd prefer it. I also like EIS is also IB. I have relatives there and they are extremely happy, from primary to high. EIS also has a good reputation when going to a uni here or applying for a job (from what I've heard). Do you think KHDA reports are something to pin your decision on? [b'>[u'>No I would first ask parents and than read the report also[/u'>[/b'> We have just applied for Raffles and been told its full, we had one child there before this, she did extremely well academically and loved the school and the teachers. No idea about EIS but it would be our second choice after Raffles.

Hi, I have one of my girls in EIS Jumeirah. She loves it! They were great with her when we moved and she had zero English, she had all the support and the teacher was very nice. Academically I know that it is not an outstanding school, but the facilities are decent, the school is established (since 1991) and they are very keen to help and discuss any issue. I really feel my DD is learning and I did not feel so much difference from the curriculum in my country, she was in a top level school there. The methods are a bit different, but I have no complain. I have my other girl in GCS, I feel that EIS is a better school, I could not move my DD to EIS yet, but if I have the chance I will. GCS has better facilities, but I don't feel the same level of commitment I feel in EIS. About Raffles, I submitted the application when I moved, but I liked EIS more at the time, I know people who have kids there and they like it, but I read a lot in internet saying otherwise. And good luck, find a school in Dubai is a challenge.... Thank you when I went to open day to EIS I really liked it but I wanted to know what parents say. I didn't have so good feeling about Raffles but that was again only open day, I don't know anything abt this schools.

We applied to several schools and so far no confirmation on the place. I was checking this 2 schools last week which are [b'>not outstanding [/b'>but might be good? I liked EIS but its good to hear from parents. Would appreciate any response Just interested but what makes you say Raffles is "not outstanding". Is that the school's general reputation everywhere or was that just a random comment you heard somewhere? Sorry didn't mention outstanding as per KHDA reports

thank you Daza, I will try to place 3 seats but I doubt I can do it (Audi A3) didn't really want comments like this. we are expecting the 3rd baby and can't really afford new can at the moment, in Europe is allowed by law, just wanted to know if it is allowed here. But surely if it's dangerous you'd rather know so you can do your best to have your baby as safe as possible? What sort of car do you have? I can fit three seats across in both our cars. You might need to try out different seats but can hopefully find some to fit. Other posters on here have mentioned 'slimfit' seats, maybe another poster can recommend. I thought it was illegal now to have a baby in the front seaet in the UK

another interesting comment "The standard & quality of education in majority of schools in Dubai is far below average compared to same grade in other third world countries. As i hv told b4 in my many comments relating to education in Dubai, it is pure business, only money making & high salaries to be paid for overseas teachers, which we pay as school fees"

We have Ikea chair; white+blue, plastic which I wasn't so sure when my sister recommended it to me. Its not the nicest chair-look wise but its so easy to clean. I take it in a shower min 5x a day (with 10 old baby) as it gets so messy. I can't imagine to have one of the wooden chairs. You can buy it and if you don't like it I can buy it from you.:):)But please wait till your baby is at least 8 months old:)

But aren't the pre-purchased tickets only AED100 each? Dubai-ite, according to the website, there's still limited availability for the 5.30pm Tuesday viewing ... I don't know, I'm sure you can get this info on the internet, the ticket I have is "VIP" u can just go there any day any time, no queuing no need to book in advance. If u buy it there it costs 400 AED

Our son started the nursery at the same age as yours and we had same problems, he just didn't settle in. After 3 months we decided to keep him at home as we thought he is too young to go to nursery, he is now 2,5 years old and I think this is a good age and he would enjoy it.

American heart centre in Dubai is probably one of the worst places in Dubai to go if you are searching for child cardiologist (I wouldn't go there for any heart problem ever again, never had such a bad experiance in my life)+ be aware of the high charges your insurance will probably not cover although they are promoting differently on their web.

Thank you for your reply, it probably make sense to go abroad, we are having gyno in city hospital in 2 weeks and will ask her for her opinion and try to get some more expert opinions. At the moment we only know there is a hole in a heart, we don't how big the hole is, we don't know what the likelyhood is that a child needs operation immediatelly when born,................
