I've got it done at pastels twice and its good. Your hair doesn't become poker straight but definitely easier to manage and a quick blow dry at home makes it good to go .

This thread has made me feel better about myself :) I've been going to the cinema alone since I moved to Dubai as sometimes coordinating with people is so tiring you end up missing the movie !! It's not awkward at all and I quite enjoy the experience !!!

Thank you ladies . As usual you have made things much easier for me :) The bee 3 it is !! I'm trying to get it down from the UK as they have the newer version . Just one question for users of the bee, do I need the bassinet ? It costs 200 pounds and so I don't wanna buy it if the baby can just use the fully reclining seat. However is the bassinet is safer / more comfortable for the babies then will go for it. Your thoughts please and thanks so much again :)

My Lo's nursery - Little Discoverers Nursery does aftercare. There were quite a few children from English College who went there for aftercare so parents could coordinate pick up timings amongst siblings :) And its a great nursery very homely.

The teacher should definitely be more patient on explaining this to you. And I always thinks its suspicious when all the food is suddenly finished . Luckily in my LOs present nursery they always return any food left over and the teacher actually discusses and tells me what my LO likes to eat as certain foods are eaten much more happily than others :) As for CcTv of biting incidents etc I think it is usually the policy of a nursery not to divulge the name of the child who bit or hit. They usually call in parents and have a discussion without giving names. As otherwise it becomes an issue between parents.

Hi Ladies Had a very concerning phone call today from a landline number saying they are from the recoveries department of Etisalat and that I have a postpaid connection registered in my name with a large outstanding amount. I have never had a post paid etisalat account as I have been using only DU for over 5 years!!! They have my name and passport details on the system and I called Etisalat to verify and they said yes its in your name but we can't give you any other information - Please go to the head office I am heading there tomorrow but am most concerned. Has this kind of thing happened to anyone else. If so how did you go about rectifying it. I am so upset and can't imagine how they have my passport details on the system when I have never registered with them!! They also said if I don't pay I will have a travel ban!!! aaaaarrrrrgh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 edited by betty_coo on 10/12/2013

I have an excellent personal trainer . I had a sudden back problem earlier this year and she recommended a physio , who I went to see and the physio was quite happy to liaise with my PT and advise what she should avoid to help my recovery . They worked as a team and I am now back to full mobility in my back and training hard again . Plain Jane could I have this trainers details so I can contact them. If you recovered from your injury then it sounds very promising. Thanks

Thank you ladies. Ruth M thanks a lot for the details you provided. It has helped me as I was making quite a few mistakes both when exercising with my trainer and while at home. Will give some of the trainers mentioned below a call and see how it goes :)

Hi pinkpetals, My LO has been at little discoverers for a year now and absolutely loves it. They have lots of great activities and the staff are fabulous and are very loving towards the children. The set up is very hands on and the head teacher and director are always available to meet and discuss any problem great or small :) Good luck with you first day of school :) edited by betty_coo on 11/09/2013

Some children take longer than others to settle and it may take anywhere between 1 day to 2 weeks. Some children tend to cry despite the best efforts of the staff and I have seen this with some of my friends children who are very confident at home but would take ages to settle into nursery while mine settled in fairly quickly in the same setting. Don't worry too much send her favorite toy along with her it as sometimes helps them when they have something familiar around them.

My Lo's Nursery has a pretty good deal on Groupon for summer camps. http://www.groupon.ae/deals/dubai/The-Little-Discoverers-Nursery/21151998 It costs only 500 for 2 weeks and since its an established nursery you can rest assured it would be qualified staff running the camps :) But your LO would have to be below 5 to attend... Hope this helps! edited by betty_coo on 19/05/2013

Oh My.. I am terrified too and have not even got my license as a result. I keep thinking I should and then chicken out!!!! If you learn to drive here and then get experience on Dubai roads, I think you will be able to successfully negotiate the worst roads anywhere else in the world (apart from Delhi and Cairo, so my husband tells me). :D I think the roads here are actually a dream compared to what I've seen in India and Bangkok where It scared me even sitting in the passenger seat with the crazy traffic and driving. But yes.. one day I will get my license and then it will probably sit in my wallet and just be another ID document :)

Oh My.. I am terrified too and have not even got my license as a result. I keep thinking I should and then chicken out!!!! Betty, I have my licence and still chicken out - I really know I need to man up but taxis are so much less hassle. Before you all jump down my throat about the cost, I only work 3 days a week and we don't need a second car and I would have to work for years and years before I could justify the expense of a car, then there is expense of car parking too - the office is just about to relocate down to Business Bay with not much metered parking in the vicinity, let alone free. Lol. Ok so I have found other on the same boat :) Yes parking terrifies me no end and I justify not getting my license by the cost of the driving classes . It does help that I live right by the metro :)

My little angel goes to this nursery and I am very happy. The classes are small and all the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Also an awesome outdoor garden and play area. Hello, I am interested in this nursery after looking at it last week. What is the traffic like to get there? We live on the Palm.... Hi I drive down from near Jebel Ali and it takes me about 20 -25 minutes depending on how fast I'm going :) The traffic is not too bad when I drive to get there for an 8 am start. How old is your little one?

So I did it - I got the entertainer and from my many phone calls the only 2 places that offer buffet inclusive of alcoholic drinks are mistral - Ibn battuta gate and five at Jumeriah Rotana. So I am leaning towards Mistral have heard good reviews. Thanks ladies for all the suggestions and help :)

We went to the friday night buffet at Ibn Battuta Gate hotel last week. 249 dhs all u can eat and drink. Its also in the Entertainer book which makes it a bargain. That sounds nice. Is it in the Entertainer this year? Fine dining I assume? Will look into buying the book then!

I've been using a filter attached to my shower. It hasn't stopped the falling completely but it has definitely helped! Also try vitamin E oil on the hair. One capsule mixed with any regular hair oil works quite well.

Hi I would suggest that you explain to them that you checked her temperature and took her to a dr. Also ask then to give the details of what her temperature was when they called you. Most schools normally record the temperature and the time they took it so that we have it if required by the dr. If they called you to pick her up beacuse she was not settled in, then they should explain that to you. It does take children even upto 2 weeks to settle in to a nursery . And lots of 2 years olds do go to nursery so don't worry too much about that. As far as the school is concerned, unless they have a faulty thermometer - they better have a good explanation :)

Thank you ladies for the feedback..it sure helped me kick start the crafting. when bub was sleeping I made some cinnamon ornies :o) ..its sitting on my table to dry and the kitchen smells so christmasy..Honestly I almost gave up on the idea of having the sale..(freaked out thinking about the response) Well if no one buys, my friends are gonna get some extra, this year. he..he..he.. One more question-- Would anyone buy teacher's gifts during Christmas? @ zoco- Happy to share the table with you :o) Maybe you can give me a 'jar' full of inspiration. mail me [email protected]. Hi Little Discoverers Nursery is having a christmas fair on the 15th of December and I think they are offering up tables for arts and crafts and goodies at no charge. Might be an option for your left over ornies :) edited by betty_coo on 22/11/2012
