Loving you thread title - Mango Rage. I would be extremely annoyed if this guy entered my garden without my permission. But I do agree in you opting to picking your battles. Too often minors become majors and when you really need the full orchestra to be ready to play, no one wants to listen!

No not really, there is a difference. You firstly don't usually meet alone, you don't go for a meal pr movie etc. It's really talking business basically. This makes it all sound so clinical, more like a job interview business transaction.. I can only gather that the chaps being interrogated are fully aware of how this works and that they will be heading to the marriage hall if they fit your criteria. Do they get much of a say as to whether YOU check all their boxes? This is all such a foreign concept to me, but then I am a foreigner in another persons country!

Thanks for your reply Lamaaz. This was something I had always wondered about. I guess it must quite special for those who are selected.

No disrespect but do the Muezzin have to audition for this job? I do not know how to word this without offending but sometimes the call is not as pleasing to the ear as others. As SD said, some calls are beautiful and it is nice to appreciate the voice of a good Muezzin/Imam.

Electrical tape does a fantastic job at securing laces. Wrap it around the boots a couple of times and they should be secure for training/games. Multi packs in different colours are cheap at Car4.

DS and I were talking this evening over dinner how we had not heard anything more since the initial announcement. Hoping he is recovering and any rumours are just that - rumours.

Thank you for the feedback. Having never been to a CduS show before, so we have nothing to compare it too but we have decided to book and go.

If any of you are going along, would you mind posting back with your opinion on the show. I am tossing up whether to take kids (teens) to see it. Thanks

You could buy direct from the UK. Yes you will have to pay around £25 for shipping but places like skates.co.uk have a wonderful range. We ordered DS scooter from this company and it was well worth it. The only no name scooters we did see here (last Xmas) were stupidly priced, so we thought delivery costs with the good selection of scooters made it worth while.

For a five year old, a Penny would be an excellent size board and funky too. As suggested, Rage would be a great start bur still not cheap - but they should last. Last year Go Sports also had a good slection of boards (can't remember he brands) which did not cost the earth.

Would your travel insurance cover pregnancy and the birth etc. should your new little bundle of joy wish to make an earlier than planned arrival?

Homework has caused many major eruptions in our house with DS - and we are about to start again. They do eventually figure it out, especially when they are old enough that detention is issued - and that is not cool. Try not to get emotional too (easier said than done). I also found he was a lot more even in temperament if he had eaten. Stand firm on the no play, pool or iPads until after homework. She will soon get the picture. Good luck.

Poor you. Not a nice experience. That Indian gentleman is a hero - and so wonderful that "everyone" broke the window. I was (still am) a neurotic mum and always use to make sure I had another door open or window slightly down (bit hard in the heat, I know) while putting little ones in, as I was always petrified of me being locked out.

MBK shopping centre looked like they had a good selection the last time I was there. I wasn't buying bags but you can get a lot of fake everything there.

Thanks ladies for the suggestions. Boys are 13 and 15. I am just worried that the Disney wow factor could wear thin very fast. Universal, Epcot and MGM sounds good. I forgot that Kennedy is in close proximity - and there is a rocket due for launch a couple of days after we arrive. It will be nothing compared to the shuttle but I'm sure it would still be amazing to see. Thanks for ticketmaster link. Huge disappointment in that we will miss Bruno Mars. Would love to see him again.

Yes I Have read the letter (although i am not sure it should be posted on a public forum).. I don't think it can be classified as not for posting on a public forum. If you google "DXB runway closure", it is there for all to open and read.

DH was sent a copy of this by a friend a few weeks back. It looks like a lot of flights will be off the schedule, rather than using DWC. http://www.acl-uk.org/UserFiles/File/letter%20from%20CEO-DAC%20-Sub-%20Runway%20Closure%20notice%20May%201%20-%202014%20-dated%2021-4.pdf

These multiple earthquake threads would make very amusing reading to residents of California. (Or even people here in Cyprus.) A tremor is NOT an earthquake. Iran suffered an earthquake, UAE felt a tremor.............not uncommon. edited by Livelytrish on 16/04/2013 So when is a tremor large enough to graduate and be considered an earthquake? Gulf news is saying what we felt would be somewhere between 4 or 5 on the Richter scale. They way my house shook and shuddered, that was plenty big enough for this scaredy cat.

I am not familiar with the location where Bruno Mars is playing tonight. Would you advise driving and is there parking nearby, or should we metro there? TIA

Hi; does anyone know where I can buy Riedel Glasses in Dubai, broke one and want to replace it before its noticed. I could be horribly wrong but this almost sounds like somebodys maid has broken a wine glass and wants to replace it before mam/sir discovers its missing. Whether you are a maid/friend/teenager, honesty could be a better option. Just admit you broke the glass and will replace it. They may even save you time and tell you where they bought them from.

I asked about this a while back, because of the little monsters I had yelled at. It seems to be a rather normal part of growing up..... http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic199157-ding-dong-ditch.aspx

AA82 sold me on the airfyrer thru her postings about her love of her machine and what she was cooking in it. I bought mine through Car4. The more expensive one (799Dhs) comes with the baking pan and I got free Phillips bowl mixer with it too - http://www.ic4uae.com/Product.aspx?productid=47956

I have splashed out and bought an Airfryer ? I am already so in love with it. DH was ver sceptical about how wonderful it would be - but he is now a convert. Chips are amazing, roast vegies are perfect - next goal is to bake a cake. Thank you ladies so much for recommending this.
