Hey y'all. I too have been buying valrhona in bulk for almost all my baking needs.I usually split it with ppl. Planning on buyin the 3 kilos of cocoa now. Does anyone need a kg ? They sell them in 3 seperate 1 kilo bags so fairly easy to distribute. I am also going to b getting some Lindt dark ( 52%) , they come in the 2.5 kilo bags. I have 4 of those as well. Anyone ?

out of interest, what is the difference between this US flour and the UK's Self Raising flour which is what we tend to use for baking. From what i know , Bleached flour is banned in uk? Not sure abt all of europe thought but most def banned in UK. And bleached flour tends to make a finer cake. Plus the self raising kind already has raising agents added to it whereas normal non self raising does not.=) Using the normal one gives u better control of the rise of your cake so u know that might be helpful to a seasoned baker. But both work if u just wanna bake a cake ! =) Hope that helps!

Hi elnino, I don't want to scare you but my LO had RSV bronchitis and needed to be admitted to hospital. my LO was too young to break up the phlegm so they had to nebulize him and do physo exercises but again he was an extreme case. If you are very concern there is no harm in going to your pediatrician and they can have a good look what's going on. Oh gosh... When I went to the doc 4 days ago he told me its a self restricting viral infection.. And since we can't administer antibiotics or cough meds to such a small baby , we ll have to wait it out with saline drops and adol if he s feverish. His cough has gotten worse though. Do u think I should meet another doc ?

my DS suffered with coughs since he was 4 wks old. Bought Vicks air filter and humidifier from the UK through amazon.co.uk and sent to my shop and ship. Save tons of money and the quality is excellent and they are quite. they are brilliant. also, invested in a air free machine they are a fortune here but again if you buy in the uk you save mucho mucho money. HTA. Of you don't mind my asking, what did you do when he got sick at 4 weeksm? I ask cause my 6 week old is suffering from horrid phlegm filled coughs and nose block and we honestly don't know what to do. Im planning on buying a humidifier in fact just posted on a different thread on which one to buy .

How is he today, elnino? Oh thank you so much for asking !!!! I came online to check what you guys were saying and frankly I'm so so upset. His fever is down but his cough is horrible and he seems to be gaggin every time he coughs ! I know there s phlegm inside but I guess he can't bring it out I m hoping he vomits it out. So so worried I have no clue what to do. The doc said to wait it out since u can't give a 6 week old antibiotics or cough meds but if worse comes to worst we ll have to go with the antibiotics : ( . I'm giving him the saline religiously like you said but his nose is still blocked. Honestly feel so upset

Hi Elnino, I remember feeling exactly the same but I promise it gets better! Mine is now nearly 4 months but I clearly remember just feeling so traumatized & in over my head. The best advice I was given was do whatever it takes to make this time easier on yourself & do see a LC & Doctor. Even if it's just to reassure you that nothing is wrong & give you some peace of mind. It's such a special time & it's easily missed amongst all the stress and sleep deprivation. There is a coffee morning tomorrow at MOE if you feel up to it, you might feel better sharing with other Mums :) Thanks gilly3.unfortunately im surrounded by the MIL plus my mom plus SIL anther family and awhole bunch of ppl. Honesty can't wait for everyone to leave so I can get my life back. I ve been confined in the house since I gave birth in the name of recuperation but honestly I think I ll recuperate better once I'm alone!! I ll def be making it for the coffee mornings by next month. Imolinar thanks for that. I did meet the lactation consultant at city and all seems ok on that front . Shjbelle - I am swaddling him though he resists it like nothing else !!I'm not too sure I'm doing it right cause he always manages to kick his legs or hands free ! I'm planning on pumping and Bottle feeding when I do venture out . Do u think that's a good idea? It just seemed so much more convenient than whipping out my boob in public every half an hour !! Also these slings , do u mean the cloth slings cause haven't been able to find those anywhere.. Thanks a bunch everyone , makes me feel so much better just reading all ur responses .: )

CONGRATULATIONS ELINO .......... Wonderful news!!!! How was the labour and delivery? I am STILL waiting and getting very very bored now. My bags have been packed for over a week and I feel it's never going to happen. I have been walking A LOT and eating pineapples but nothing has worked. I have an appointment tomorrow with my midwife as I am having the baby in UK so let's see if they can do anything to hurry it along. xx Hey Natasha ... Labour was totally not to plan ! I was so sure I'd have a normal delivery and instead ended up having a emergency C SEction ! Water broke 9 days early and after rushing to the hospital jthru early morning traffic finlly got to city hospital. Walked for 2 hours to get the contractions started but to no avail, then they strted inducing me thru iv. After a couple of hours of that they noticed lil one s heart rate dropping . Turns out my pelvis was too narrow. Dint see the point in siting Any longer and ended up have g a c sec. Lil one had a cone head when he ca,e out from all the pushing he did trying to force his way out thru my all too small passage ! But happy to report it's all fine now. Just getting to used to the sleeplessness and endless feeding cleaning. Cycle . The first few days home are the worst to be honest. I felt more like a zombie . It's gotten better now and everyone keeps telling me It ll only get better . So catch ur zzzzzzz s while you can and enjoy the ride : )

My bub couldnt move by that time as it really had ran out of space. Good luck for your scan! Labour is something really miraculous and not as bad as you would think. I was terrifeid at the thought of giving birth but when the labour pains started i got really excited, this beautiful being that i had carried, i was at last about to meet! And its not like having a tooth out where you leave in pain, you have this wonderful new person to explore. You have 2 choices, enjoy it or freak out. Choose to tell yourself that each contaction is a step forward to meeting your little miracle and on the plus side it doesnt last forever. Your labour is your time,so make your preferences known to those sharing it with you and enjoy it. So I delivered ladies !!! And it was nothing like what I thought it would be !!! I was so sure I would have a normal delivery. My due date was today !but my water broke on 11th , rushed to the hospital , wasn't in any pain and after 2 hours of walking to get the contractions started they decided to induce me . After 4 hours of that and minimal result , they diagnosed foetal distress, Ds heart rate was dropping . Turned out my pelvis was too narrow, poor Ds was pushing but to no luck .so emergency c section it was. Funny how things never turn out the way you expect them to !! Anyway we re back home now and I'm a zombie from the sleepless nights and the feed clean cycle.

we did it for my son when he was about 6 months (for religious reasons). He healed well and there were no problems but let me warn you it was very very tough for me to watch! I would advise you to let your DH and perhaps your mum if poss or other relative go in with your DS We had done it at a private hosp (cant remember which now) but they injected anesthetic right on to his bits and pieces before they started! I wasnt expectng this at the time and was really shaken myself..let alone my poor DS who was shrieking off his head! make sure you know EXACTLY what the procedure is so there are no last minute surprises. having said this, DS healed just fine..I believe we were given an ointment to put in his bath to help him heal quicker. We did it for my newborn the day after he was born. That was around 8 days ago.dr Patrick at city hospital did the circumcision and just before they took him thy applied a local anesthetic cream , when they brought him back half hour later he was fast asleep . His plastic patrull ring fell off last night and everything seems fine thank god. Was sponge bathing him all these days and now have started normal bath. He hasn't been crying or upset when we changed nappies or anything which leads meto believe he wasn't in pain from the ring being there. Good luck!

We have just had the most splendid care from Dr Jennifer Kasirsky at the Welcare Hospital. I didn't realize she practiced as a gynae in her spare time, we met her late on Friday night as a surgeon in the Emergency Dept when daughter was admitted for the removal of a huge ovarian cyst. I cannot speak too highly of her. Nor of the entire emergency gynaecology and cardiac team at the Welcare Hospital. Hey there. I just delivered 10 days ago at city hospital and I cannot recommend it highly enough. My doc was azizunissa, and she was great, as were the nurses and midwives. Had to have an emergency c due to foetal distress and felt so taken care of and comfy Thru it all. The only hitch isgettin an appointment with the dr the first time arnd , once get that they generally schedule you in every month . Have heard lovelythings abt dr elsa as well ! Best of luck with it all !!

hey there.. im 38 weeks along now..got my regular checkup at city scheduled tomorrow... havent been feeling the baby move much at all... thiugh i know its moved cause i can see bumps on different sides at diff times...sis tells me its normal when the baby has grown as much as it prolly has by now...and im freaked out by the whole delivery thought... every time i get a twinge down there my mind starts racing....somebody help !!! As soon as labor kicks in, so does the adrenaline - it's mother nature's gift to us! I felt great after each of my deliveries. I felt great *during* my second delivery too... my first was a bit frantic quick. OP, you're at term and bubs is pretty big now, so his/her movement is restricted. It's all normal. Try not to worry about the delivery, as it will tense your body up and will likely make it more painful... try to focus on the excitement of meeting your baby at last and ride the wave, so to speak. Let your body do what it wants to and tell your DH that his job is to make sure nobody pesters you unnecessarily throughout the process. He'll love the idea of "me man, protector" in the run-up, but in reality on the day he'll be far, far more apprehensive than you! Gosh... you know what - I would love to be able to experience that kick-off moment again... and the birth, to be honest. I remember both times really well - with my first, I lay in bed for a while with the idea finally dawning on me that it was It. Second time around, I was 8 days overdue, so it wasn't before time and I couldn't get the grin off my face! Your endorphins (happy hormones) will go into overdrive if you let them, regardless, pretty much of how you end up giving birth. It is, without doubt, the most incredibly amazing life-changing moment ever. wow..thank you all so much... Hello kitty you mde it sound so exciting and magical... =) somehow akll the stories i ve heard till now centered around the grueling pain !! =/ so my mind is just focussed on what this pain will be like , how i ll bear it and what if i cant??? =(

I could go. I'm free on Monday and in need of a good massage. Hopefully crystals indubai is right - they should be able to offer BOGOF for any two massages that are the same amount of time and price. That's using logical thinking, but who knows? :-p Which branch would this be at? Hey natalie. i have a booking for monday at 3 pm. I called sensasia. the offer goes like this. We buy 2 two body treatments and pay for the highest one . so basically we split the cost of the highest massage. If you tell me which one you d like to go for i could find an equivalent prenatal massage. However i guess i should alert them im coming for a BOGOF by tomorrow atleast. The branch i ve made a booking at is the Sensasia at Village on Jumeirah

What is City's policy on OB's attending the birth? In most hospitals, unless you have a planned induction or C-section, you're not guaranteed to have 'your' OB at the birth anyway. Why not talk to the hospital staff and find out exactly what you can expect once you're in labour. If you know exactly what should happen, where you should be and who should be there to support you, you may feel more relaxed about it all. The OB should not have been taking patients if she knew she was going on leave. Very poor form unless she has some unforeseen emergency...but it's not an insurmountable disaster. Take care ladies. I don't expect to have "my" OB there for the delivery but I do expect there to be an OB to be there for the actual delivery. In my home country, you would choose a doctor to see you for all your appointments but who delivered your baby just happened to be whoever was on call. That is perfectly acceptable to me. City did tell me not to worry that they have two on-call OB doctors so there will always be a doctor to be there for the actual delivery. Reception did give me a call and try to "reschedule" my last two appointments but their idea of rescheduling is actually just canceling those appointments. They said at this point they had not been advised who was going to be taking over Dr. A's patients. hey kaba in any case. its heartening to know they assured you there would be 2 on call doctors. im hoping one of them is DR.E. In any case i have my appointmen with dr.a tom and will be askin her abt this whole mess. will def get back to you on her response.

Elnino - I'm in exactly the same boat as you. I assume you're with Dr. A? After my last appointment there I wanted to double-check that all my future appointments were confirmed (happened twice before where someone had actually canceled an appointment without letting me know). This is when I found out my doctor will be on leave while I'm due. She never mentioned anything to me and I doubt anyone would have said anything except for the fact that I was checking those appointments. The reception told me that Dr. E would be taking over all Dr. A's patients but I find that so hard to believe because Dr. E is already so overbooked (she was my first choice but couldn't wait the 3 months to get an appointment with her). I'm really worried about all this nonsense, they keep telling me how understaffed they are... I'm thinking it may be in my best interest to see a doctor at a private clinic who still delivers at City. Kaba yes i am !! AND Yes we def are in the same boat ! Cause when i registered at City Hospital my first choice was dr E who i dint get cause she was so backed up ! And then i met Dr.A and liked her and decided to continue with her but now im really worried. Just like you the doctor dint inform me herself it was when they were booking me in for all the further appointments since im so near to my date now that the receptionist told me she wont be around !! Although when i asked them who would take care of the delivery if doc wsnt there they told me midwives would and there be on call doc . When i asked who the on call doc is they told me Dr.Sadaf. Now i ve gone to the emergency before and though i kept gettin medicines recommended by this dr sadaf . said person nevr came to meet me in person to make me feel at ease that the medicines they were pumping in to me were safe. So i wasnt very happy to hear this. Though on the other side when DR.E was on leave it was DR. A who handles all of DR.E patients. so i really dont know. The whole reason i came to city was cause i wanted the doc i was meetin to deliver my baby and now it just looks like i should have gone to Al Wasl . i dont know if i should shift to another doctor ath this nth minute !! edited by Kaba on 20/08/2011

I would probably aviod the straightening treatment at this stage of your pregnancy. Massage is safe in late pregnancy though, they will probably do most of it with you lying on your side. Juan Salon in JLT is doing a great Ramadan deal just now - 500aed for cut, colour, highlights, treatment, mani, pedi and parrafin wax. I'm booked for Sun. :) jillip that sounds like a good deal !!. any idea if colour is allowed though ? im in my 34th week now.

While there's nothing quite like a pampering at this stage of pregnancy, please be sure the massage therapist knows what she is doing and has extensive experience with pregnant women. "Massage" is relatively safe but she needs to be aware of and careful of certain accupressure points etc. i ll be sure to check up on that green-ish ! thanks for the heads up.
