If your condition makes you feel you are, for example, very dizy and are falling down when you put your head back - it may be an ear condition - so you would need ear nose and throat specialist. There is an exercise for this condition which I think is cause by calcium(?) in the ear.

We have a rent guarantee insurance which I wouldn't be without. We had tenants that 'did a runner' owing 2 months rent. The insurance covered us for taking the tenants to Court and we got our money back, eventually. They were terrible tenants and left the place filthy and did a lot of damage, breeding dogs, when we said no pets and our letting agent at the time did nothing at all to assist us just kept telling us they had checked the property and all was fine! Taking the tenants to Court was all done by the Insurance Company, they were brilliant and got a CCJ against the tenants. Personally I wouldn't have DSS in our property as I've heard lots of stories of how bad properties have been left when they move out.

Is Sia still there as of now? I was in M & S this week and looked for Sia - but could not find it!Yikes. I've had a heart attack at what people are quoting for fresh flowers. I only want my bouquet and button holes for the guys, we're doing something else for reception decorations. Do you know the name of the shop? Or where it's located? Many thanks. Yep it's the one previously mentioned - Sia in MOE. Next to Marks and Spencer on top floor. edited by hastings on 11/10/2012

Be careful with cats that were originally feral - in countries in Europe many of them can be FIV+ - but don't know if that is the case in UAE.

There seem to be so many obscure and very dodgy estate agents in Dubai - I get about 3 emails a day from them - don't know why or how! One said the other day that new 2 year residence visas were now being issued to property buyers! I don't think so!! Only stick with the larger well know agents, I would say.

One thing to watch out for is wobbly mixer taps on sinks in Ikea kitchens - which is annoying. I think this is because the metal in some of the IKEA stainless steel sinks is quite thin and does not give the taps the "support" they need. (In UK there is a plumbing fitting to go under the sink that supports the mixer's pipes and stops the mixer wobbling.)

As no one has mentioned it yet - thought you should know - if you don't already - you are not supposed/allowed to live with a man who is not actually your husband.

I had some old fillings removed ( in Switzerland) at dentist's advice - there was nothing wrong - but he did a great deal of drilling and I had terrible, awful pain after that ! Went back to complain but he said there was nothing wrong. After weeks - pain went away. Later another dentist said that probably the nerves had been affected by deep drilling and they had gradually died - causing pain (?). He added - maybe the other denist had to drill so deep to remove the fillings! Don't bother to change old fillings if you don't have a problem!

Thanks Pinks for your reply - just seen. Will try to contact your agent next week. I have been reading some "REVIEWS" by estate agents on the current state of London rental market - actually not that good - I think Knight Frank said there was an increase of about 30% of the number of properties placed on market over last 3 months to June and a 3% drop in tenants looking - compared with same time last year. They and Cluttons blame the Olympics partly and a feeling of lack of job security for stagnant market for prime London areas. But hopefully things will improve in September. I have an agent but came back to find lights had been left on ( by them during viewings) with many bulbs blown etc. - so not pleased! Also - did not know that these agents all actually have walk to their appointments & viewings from their office - rain or shine! Don't know how they can do that! edited by hastings on 28/07/2012

As you've not had many answers - my experiences with buses has been generally very good. I sometimes take one from Greens to MOE. They are a lot cooler than taxis, mostly on time, frequent, clean and comfortable but rather slow. I only found them crowded on Fridays. I think maids use them ( rather than "madams") ... but if you don't drive or have a car - good alternative to taxis if you are not in a hurry and near the bus stations/stops!

I hope no one thinks of putting car in any vacant space in golf towers, or else where before asking the owner - it is likely to be towed away. There has been problems with this in the past.

Thanks for all the replies. One security officer for Emaar did suggest I move the car to another space but then realised all the spaces were taken! (don't know how he thought I could do that!). There has been some concern about packed bags in the vehicle and what they may contain. The policeman was so very definite that it was not for him to have it removed (no debts outstanding on it) and also said no tow-truck would get into the under ground parking area. The local head of Emaar security was there with the security man for building - neither of them argued with the policeman. Only I insisted to him the police should take it away. He then started questioning me about my visa! Now Emaar is preparing a letter in Arabic for me to take to the police station. I shall do that when next in Dubai ( I no longer have resident's visa). Thanks to everyone - feel a little braver now!

Thanks so much Cheeky for reply. Had to attempt post 6 times before it was successful! About the colour background - I noticed the photographer asked me did I want a white or grey background? - I chose white - was that wrong - don't recall anything about that in "help notes"?

1. Do British passport still say where they are "issued" inside them? If so what do they put for here seeing they go to Dusseldorf and come back from UK? Do they say Dubai anywhere on them? 2. Do you need 6 months unexpired on your passport to get any visa here? 3. As "help notes" say 2 out of 5 renewal applcations have errors and have to be sent back - is there anyone here who will check them first?

Manage-my- property are I see not in my area - which is more just London W - W2, W11, W9 + NW8. I wanted to post link to article in Independent today - but link is too long to see. But it goes - "To let, for GBP40,000 a night: Small country adoining Austria ( may contain Liechtensteiners)" - it is actually Liechtenstein to let! Comments after it - funny too - one is - "Been there - done that..." - what? In that case would you like to rent my flat?! Also - someone spent night there in 1975 but woke up to find himself next to rubbish bins!

@WaxMuch - LOL - didn't want to mention any names - but as you do - I heard they actually sent back the rent money to a tenant who they made sign a 2 year contract - he then left property before the 2 years but was good enough to continue to pay rent - BUT someone in company then sent him back the rent to his account - he went travelling and did not seem to know and then refused to repay the money again!! Landlord lost GBP18,000 - had to go to court and recovered about GBP12,000!

I'm looking to rent out a flat I have in central London - but after a few horror stories from friends who have been through the experience - I'm quite nervous! Does any one know a good one?! Also - would be interested if someone has used the on-line agent called - housesimple - their fees are supposed to be a little lower and their terms etc. are all on-line. Hope this enquiry is " allowed"! TIA

Tried to answer this before - but got deleted as "not authorised user" - so will be brief - I believe some people have a genuine physical difficulty with the precise nature of writing accurately and neatly. Nothing to do with laziness etc. I also think using a computer is a lot easier as a "physical skill" than writing - thank goodness that is what will mostly be used now!

Just to let anyone know - the Dubai Traffic Dept. Notary Public section will NOT authenticate any docs. not related to "traffic" ( though they were on a list on-line as doing government document authentications & as being a Dubai Court Notary Public). I have just been there.

I can't help wondering what happened to all those crowds at Tripoli airport that were on the TV screens when Brits. were trying to get out - did they all manage to leave? Actually - it's quite surprising how many people have been to Libya - especially of a certain age!

It seems obvious but don't see it mentioned - why not call your respective consulates to ask if they can list what is available here to get married quickly for you 2 ( if you decide that). Las Vagas seems a long way to go for a quick wedding! Just a thought - can you give birth here without any problems if the 9 months overlaps the marriage date?! I've heard some hospitals here ask to see the marriage cert. when babies are born. Good luck!

If you rented through an agent he may be able to help you. (Actually he should have seen the Deeds before he took the property on - otherwise there is not the proof of ownership as required). Point this out to him ( all agent should be RERA registered now) and hopefully he can get in touch with LL.

I am not an expert - but for what it is worth - your landlord must register the title deeds and pay the 1.5% of purchase price. Everyone has had to do it. No one is allowed to rent or sell their property ( so I have been told by Emaar) without it. Also a solicitor told me the same. It can take about 2 months to do - or longer.
