There is a Benjamin Moore Paints store in Doha, where you can buy very low and even zero VOC paints and primers. While you are there, ask them for a referral for painters that can get the job done. See this link (scroll down the page for the doha store): http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_home_interiors_Benjamin_Moore_Paints_open_morning_11820.aspx

We are western expats looking for an Arabic nursery and/or school to put our 4 year-old son in. I speak, read, and write some and would like my son to learn as I progress with him. I am looking for full submersion. Anyone know of any? My internet searches are clouded by schools that have basic Arabic classes.

Call this American lady named 'Toni' (050 143 1443) who my friend used in her home. She may do layout too and her rates are very reasonable, so I hear. She mainly works with color though.

I am currently reading Dropped Threads (first one). I am lucky to have picked it up at the Flea Market for 5 aed (at the last one) from a delightful lady who never even cracked it. It is a collection of 36 essay-type stories from all different women of various backgrounds. The were asked to write about something never before shared. It is wonderful, especially for the many angles women sometimes deny, like age and beauty, etc. I highly recommend it...WOW. Whats better, is that each is a story so set it down without feeling obligated if you get busy because when you pick it up again, it will be a new story!

I was surprised the Body Shop's wasnt as good as I expected it to be. I have more 'mature' skin and thought it had too much coverage. They only have a few shades and the lightest is too dark/orange, which is odd as it looked great in the store so I bought it then my husband said I look a bit like a pumpkin in the morning sun in the car. right. I am ok with Garnier...which is so cheap for the quality of it. I am not sure they were the first at this tho...as I have been buying tinted moisturizer from MAC, which is no longer available, for many years...which is the same type of product. Surprising, I tested Prestige brand while at Carrefour in the fun H&B isle yesterday and was shocked at how nice it was for 95 aed. Oil of Olay has tinted day cream now too, which is ok for a regular day with no lunch meet-ups or meetings...its a quick, easy to slap on with your palms cream for every day.

Certainly support I can use right now. Your words are priceless, thank you. All you have to do is spend a bit of time watching "mystery diagnosis" to know that doctors don't know everything and persistence is the key to finding out what is wrong with you. If you believe something is wrong, then it more than likely is - and not stress or anxiety. Do you're own research - look for people who have similar symptoms and don't give up.

Thank you :) I had a thyroid test 3-4 months apart to check it and see if there was any alarming change. Nothing...its fine. I hope since your diagnosis you are feeling much better. I was troubled with some thin bunch of veins when I was pregnant. But after the delivery they are not that visible and troublesome. But I started having every other symptoms that you are going through. I couldn't even walk from the car parking to my office because of the terrible leg pain. Towards the end of the day I always felt very very tired and was also having breathing difficulties. I saw an osteopath thinking I do have some joints and muscles problem. Since they found nothing after examination, she asked me to get done THYROID test! Finally, yes that was the problem. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism! Hope this helps..

Wow, really??? I can relate to your father's experience. Thanks for that. We are making plans to go back home for a long break, but can't do it (financially) now...but it is our next plan for all this and hope it will prove alot. :) Thank you. I hate to say it, but I would tend to agree with TDB. Sometimes our bodies become symptomatic becaue of stress/pollution and a whole other range of reasons. I will give you a really good example. My father was very ill his last year in Dubai, you could set your watch by the heart palpitations he'd have, hot and cold sweats, big veins, lots of other things going on. He spent 3 weeks in the Welcare hospital, had every test under the sun, sw every specialist - they even consulted a cardiac specialist in Germany - NOTHING! When he left the UAE, all his symptoms suddenly disappeared. We now put it down to a stressful job, bad climate, too much pollution etc. Maybe you need to take a holiday somewhere 'clean', fresh air, relax and see how you are then. My mother also suffers enlarged veins and swelling in the heat - it's pretty common. If you can stand it, have you tried support tights to restrict the blood flow? edited by FairyDust on 27/08/2013

I agree, thank you, so was reluctant to post here, but if its just the heat+age, maybe someone else can confirm, etc...or whatever it may be. I cant say I am stressed over it, but would be silly to pretend it doesn't get in the way of life since it all. Maybe my quick typing here between work mails and my son asking to play sesame street games on my laptop prompted a hasty andaggressive-sounding post... ;) oops. The doctor I have, from Talise, is a doctor of Internal Medicine, which means she has trained 5 more years than a doctor focusing on disease, etc (if I worded that right)...she worked in cardiology in Italy and is German. She is, after all her years in practice, a certified homeopath and leans that way from her experience as a doctor. I believe I am in good hands, and we are taking measures to combat stress, as a preventative...taking up good reads, meditation, yoga, massage, and personal methods of combatting day-to-day pressures...she is a gem. I can cross off some symptoms, but my legs look crazy and I am sure stress has not brought my veins to the surface...its creepy...but maybe. LilmissT I understand your frustration and desperation at finding an answer, but EW is not really the place to find an answer. Being stressed is not helping the situation at all. I suggest you go back to the basics and go to a good GP and start the process from the beginning. A good GP can then advise as to who to see, it may well be a good pulmonologist. We can all second guess from a few posts but ultimately you need to find a good GP who will help you make a diagnosis or at least send you in the right direction. Please do not waste your money on alternative medicine, go and see professionally qualified recommended medical doctors. There are some excellent GP's around.

I certainly appreciate the time & generosity behind anyone who posts here. I am frustrated, which is why I am asking if anyone has heard of such ailments. All related or not, I am not sure, but I am a very health person who has never suffered from migraines, aches, even menstrual cramps. (thank god). I have even brushed off a childhood diagnosis of asthma through exercise, diet, and avoiding smokey places and pets, etc. I barely have any signs of it. I can count medical attention on one hand, in my history. I am a very positive person with plenty of stress but a very positive outlook on life no matter what. I also have a very calm and mild tempered husband who is very supporive and agrees that although we have stress, as most of us do in a modern lifestyle, it is evident that I have real symptoms that popped out of no where the day we moved into our new home. Its quite strange. Thanks for your input. I have considered an ECG, thanks mcsk...and think that is what I will do next as my newes doc said it wouldn't hurt to confirm what she hears may be a murmur...just to be aware, eventhough its not uncommon. I have also been referred to Heather many times, and it wouldn't hurt to get another opinion eventhough I like my doctor at Tallise. I also agree with those who posted on the effects of heat here, as reality puts it, I am not getting any younger...and at 40, and 10 years in this country I may be feeling it. I am a very fair blonde and genetically my body simply is not built for this climate...I am sure. As the heat subsides, I am seeing less swelling of my veins, but my legs still look like maps with blue roads now, which is new. Thanks for your comments.

I went to a vascular surgeon. I took a vitamin B stress complex vitamin and a high dose of vitamin D. He saw nothing. He sees the start of some varicose veins, but said my legs look healthy for my age and nothing is alarming. The swelling never happens till I am exposed to the extreme heat of the summer here, and progressive throughout the day reaching a intolerable peak in the evening. I found a doctor of internal med/cardiology/homeopath at Talise Wellness Center. She is a breathe of fresh air to have met when I did. I like her. But after a few meets, herbal and natural meds for vascular constriction and multiple blood tests for vasculitis, that showed up negative...we still have no answers, or even leads. :( My legs are starting to look like busy road maps of an inner-city. The pain has subsided a little bit, but I get a throbbing in a vein in my forehead now and a finger-point mild-to-medium pain in my heart. veins throughout my arms and knees have also become more visible suddenly...as in, over the past 4 months. We live a stone-throw from the desalination plant and the aluminum plant behind the Marina, after JBR. Also, we have witnesses weird things in our building that we are questioning to be exposure...? We live just above a stairway exit that is always overwhelmed with a sewage smell and we are puzzled as to how a very high-traffic restaurant can be operating in the middle of this very offensive odor...? Could it be the culprit? We are doing everything we can, in vain...but now, I am seeing a very rapid increase of visibility in a very blueing vein in my 3 1/2 year old son's forehead in the past weeks. we are watching close for any other symptoms....but now that I see something in him, I am very aggressively searching for tips, leads, or answers!!! We are in a new lease and can no way afford to move or leave right now. PLEASSSSSSSE HELP!!! Any input is welcome.

I don't know either of these companies, but wanted to post here to warn you that my husband is in the automotive industry here and has told me that there are places that sell fake window tint that has the 3M logo and sell it as authentic. I would look for an 'authorized 3M reseller' and be sure they offer you a 3M certificate and warranty as I received last time I had a car tinted. I guess then you never know, do you.

hated the baby bjorn (so did my son). love love love our ergo...get a cocoon insert for NB or whatever they are called.-a must for travel. get it from babysouk so you dont buy a fake. used a moby wrab for early months...liked it! use the ring sling on occasion as it stuffs into the stroller or bag easier than anything else...just cant use it for long periods.

neither. educate yourself about the NEW cloth options before you turn a cheek to them. most moms who use them wishes they had been more open minded from the start. a healthier, cheaper, more convenient option...believe it or not ;) we have never experienced diaper rash and havnt bought a single diaper since 3 mo old (he is now 18mo). google the benefits too (from other moms)...they tend to potty train earlier.

please be careful of the difference between "souq.com" and "babysouk.com" Babysouk.com (with a "k") is an authorized dealer here, and i believe the only one! (we got our there) Souq.com sells ergo fakes and if you buy one from a chinese lady then...! souq.com has alotta great stuff but be careful that they give you 3 days to return stuff if its not as advertised in your sale. The babysouk.com owner is a westen lady and she will deal with you directly. by the way, if you buy locally it may be easier if you need service or additional parts.
