Hi ladies, Just moved to a wonderful apartment, BUT it lacks a dishwasher, and the only place we can put it is ON the kitchen sink. Therefor we need a smaller size, not the "normal" size. I used to have one like that in my hometown, but I have never seen anyone like that in Dubai. Does anyone know where to find one, I am kind of going crazy washing everything by hand being used to a dishwasher... Small problem compared to other problems in the world, but still ;-) Thanks!

HI, The cues for passport control every time I land in Dubai are KILLING me! everytime I stand there I just ant to SCREAM because it is simply so slow! Can anyone please explain how this e-gate works, if it is good and in that case how I get it the easiest way? Thanks!

HI, Can I please ask you for an approximate price of these blinds and the work? Just to have some sort of idea if it is expensive or not?

Caroline Kassem, a hairdresser that comes to your home? Does that really work to do it at home? http://carolinekassem.com/

No I haven´t tried a wig, BUT my hair is really dark now, since I have not done any highlights in about 3 months, so I can already tell the difference pretty much.

Thanks AudreyFB, I really do agree. It is so sad with this forum sometimes, because I get a feeling that some people take out their discontent with life on others here. People ask questions here for a reason, because they want to know and I do not get why some people feel the urge to be bitter and sarcastic? I just asked a simple question, but within a couple of minutes I get this not so nice answer from someone, like you said, why don´t they just mind their own business instead of starting an argument? Life is too short :-D

Thanks so much RSAgirl, Sanddy_Dogg, Amelia and Licorice! It might seem like a stupid problem for some people obviously, but I really appreciate your thoughts and advice! Have a great day!

Well, for me, coming from a country where tipping is not normal except whenin a restaurant, that is also a way of parting from your "hard earned money", right? But it is still custom and unpolite NOT to tip here, which of course I do. Do you really find it that strange that I want to follow the hidden "codes" and cultures in a, to me, "new" country?

Well, that was not my question was it? There are different levels of what is considered rude in different cultures and countries, which I suppose you know if you have done some traveling. Just wanted to make sure I do not do something that is considered rude and unpolite. Whether you find it strange or not does not really interest me.

Compared to where I come from it can easily be considered cheap, and I do not want that. That is simply the reason, so I just wanted to know if you always have the blow-dry?

Hi again :-) Went to UAE exchange today, and they said they could not do it :-( Any other places someone out there can recommend? There has to be some place here that does that, at home we can do it in all the exchange offices? Thanks :-)

Usually I would DEFINATELY make a big fuss about it - but of course this time I have lost the receipt (I am usually extremely organized) and I also signed a paper when I was in there buying the course stating that I could not get the money back. I know, STUPID, and very naive, but when the man explained the course it sounded very good. Do you think I can still get the money back without the receipt AND having signed paper? What are the rules here regarding this, does anybody know?? It is only about 600 AED, but still, I hate sponsoring a bad company with my hard earned money....

Yes and no, I do not fully agree with you. Of course some things on Groupon are worthless, BUT I have bought several things and events from there as well that has turned out very well. In this case I was just trying to be nice and warn people about this specific deal, since we all know how many people use Groupon every day. Let´s stay away from the bad deals and actually enjoy the good ones. Just trying to be helpful. edited by anemon on 19/11/2012

HI, I just saw an offer on Groupon for lessons in ITI, International Training Institute in Knowledge Village, and I would just like to warn You to stay away from them. I bought some language lessons and was told that it was going to take lace 2 times/week, they did not have the exact schedule when I was there, but promised to call me with the result of my language test and the schedule. When they call me after a long time, they have no results for me and the schedule has been changed so that instead of 2 lessons/week they have 1 lesson every day for the next 10 or so days. I have a family and NO possibility to leave every night for school!!! I would never have bought the classes I was told it was going to be like that. I have been trying to get in touch with them but they do not reply all my emails and when I call they tell me they will call me back, which of course has never happened. So what ever you do, stay away! They are extremely unprofessional, and it´s a waste of your money. Have a great day! edited by anemon on 19/11/2012

Thanks SO much Giti, that was JUST what I was interested in hearing! I´ve heard both good things and bad, but me and my husband really wanted to "run off" somewhere and spoil ourselves and I don´t know if Hatta is the right place for that :-) Have a great evening and thanks again!

trip to Musandam or something like that to take a cruise, just for the day? We are driving ourselves and would like some recommendations on which cruise boat to go with? What time do they usually leave from Musandam and is it hard to find the way? Is Khasab better to go to? Lots of questions as you can see haha :-) Thanks so much and I really look forward to seeing dolphins and having a beautiful journey :-)

HI, We have a water leak in the water heater in the master bathroom which has been there ever since we moved in a month ago (which we of course did not see when we first said yes to the apartment) When I emailed the secretary of the owner, she said that this is usually not on their account? Can this really be true, that WE, the tenants are supposed to pay for a leaking water heater?? Would really appreciate your inout and knowledge here! Thanks!

HI, I am aiming to start studying at a university/college here in Dubai, but would like to improve my English skills first and I am currently looking for a good English course at a university that also looks good on my future CV. Can anyone recommend a specific school or course? I have been looking at the Intensive English Language Program at the American University, anyone with information? Or somewhere else maybe? I would REALLY appreciate all the inputs You may have, how ever small! :-) Thanks and have a great Friday!

Thanks so much PennyLane for making fun of my english - just what I needed, like I am not already ashamed of it as it is. If you have nothing nice to say, then please don´t say it at all. But Daza and Ishehere, thank You so much, I really appreciate it! That´s why I like this page so much, that people are actually helping each other out! Thank You!

Hi friends, I am right now a housewife like many other of You, but I am really dying to go back to school and get an education from the University, which I never did when I was younger unfortunately. The problem is that there is a JUNGLE out there of different universities and degrees, and I was hoping that You might give me some advice and recommendations when You are not familiar with the postgraduate/graduate/masters-degree and all that is its called, which I am not unfortunately :-( :-S Do You have experience from one of the universities here in Dubai? Or maybe one of You might know a good counsellor that I can seek advice from? ANYTHING will help me to start somewhere :-) Right now it is just overwhelming and I simply do not know where to start :-( I would really appreciate your help, so that I can make something out of myself hopefully ;-)
