So where's best for choice and quality? I'm on the lookout for something new and shiny, probably a ring, but not sure where to start. I know the hustle and bustle of the Gold Souq is a little annoying, but is it worth the trip, or is the Gold & Diamond park just as good?

In the Entertainer Dubai, I can see vouchers for The Track Restaurant and The Qube Sports Bar. Fab! Thank you :)

I think you have to go with your gut instincts. If you feel comfortable with the possibility of him staying over on occasion, meet him first and be sure you like what you find, especially if he will have access to our home. It's one thing to like and trust your maid who you have had time getting to know, but her son is still a stranger to you at the moment.

Interesting to see so many differing opinions! I don't have a maid I have a lifesaver that keeps my house in order allowing me to got to work and spend time with my kids afterwards. She has been given access to all the things we take for granted including TV with a cable package relevant to her dialog, Internet access and recently a tablet allowing her to Skype from the privacy of her room in the evenings or at weekends. I've even helped her download some music to play whilst she works hard in the house all day. I've never had to speak to her about not completing work, in fact she does much more than the tasks I originally gave her the responsibility of! It's not always a case of give someone an inch and they'll take a mile....... Sometimes you have to give in order to gain!

If International City is convenient for the commute to school, why not suggest Silicon Oasis to your friend? It's much safer for a girl on her own and probably just as affordable.

I also highly recommend Dr Tazyeen. I have visited her both in Jumeirah and at her own clinic in Motor City. It sounds a bit corny, but I actually miss not needing to see her any more. She's really good, knows her stuff and makes you feel like more than just a patient, without being too personal to make you feel uncomfortable if you know what I mean?? It's not easy keeping your dignity when your seeing a Gynae! Never had to use it, but she has a website, I'm sure if you want to know more about her you'll get mre details at www.drtazyeenobgyn.com

I couldn't fault Dr Tazyeen. I've been her patient for almost two years and found her to be excellent. She never rushes your appointment, always gives sound advice and realizes that patients sometimes find it hard to follow doctors orders when they are trying to juggle a home, kids and work! I'm no longer her patient, but only because I've had surgery to fix my issues. You will find her at her own clinic in Motor City, Detroit House, Tel. 04 3746923. I think she also still runs a regular clinic on Beach Road, Jumeirah. Can't remember which medical centre though?

When it's our choice, we always opt for the Movenpick, JBR. The food never disappoints, the staff are great and the kids don't mind the Jazz musician. It's rarely packed, so you don't feel like your hemmed in, or waiting in line to pick you food. Depending on where you are seated, you can over look the sea and will see the skydivers, which is a big bonus for our kids. Never yet have we come across a crowd of rowdy drunks, which is the best bonus of all on a Friday brunch with the kids!

I'll second that. Bare Essentials is great! I always get annoyed with bikini's and swimsuits that never seem to keep my bum under wraps too, but I've bought a few items from BE that have been perfect. They're probably a bit more pricey, but well worth it. I think it's called Bare Essentials, upstairs in the Jumeirah Centre, not far from Lime tree & spinneys. They have a great collection for the larger chested ladies. Loads of mix & match items.

Outback is an option too. It's on the first floor and has a great view even though it's not directly opposite the fountains. I find that the ground floor restaurants are not ideal if you want the kids to enjoy the fountains too, it get's pretty crowded.

Hi can anyone recommend a good female gynaecologist please? I really recommend Dr Tazyeen. She has her own clinic in Detroit House, Motor City and I think she still assists in a clinic on Beach Road.

This is so funny! Sorry Tattie Bogle I shouldn't laugh, but can't help it. I bought a large Ariston gas cooker from Dubizzle last year. It came with no instructions and an operator that had no idea what to do with the 'bits' underneath the hob!!!?? The long and short is I too couldn't light the grill or oven with the starter switch......It didn't matter how long I held in the knob to release the gas, so My guess is the switch only works for the hob? At the time I had no Internet to download the user manual so off I popped to buy some cooks matches and low and behold they worked a treat. Like Plum2 said, you need to ignite the oven yourself with a flame in the hole at the bottom. The way forward is to get a gas lighter gun thingy, but make sure you hide it from the kids if they are anything like mine! Hope dinner wasn't ruined :)

I've been seeing Dr Tazyeen on and off for a few years and would highly recommend her to anyone. She now has her own clinic in Motor City (past the autodrome) which is just a stones throw away from you. The building is Detroit house, but not sure if the building actually shows this? Her number is 04 3746922 if you want to try her out. Good luck, hope you get sorted!

We've spent the past 2 years on Jumeirah Beach with the kids. Both times we've parked ourselves with a birdseye view of Atlantis, Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa just behind us. The fireworks are amazing, and everyone is in good spirits which is ideal with the kids on toe.

Hi, My problems are all post pregnancy, but I'm sure you would be in good hands with my Gynae Dr Tazyeen. You can find her at her new clinic in Motor City (close to Arabian Ranches and Sports City). I've been seeing her for a few years and more than happy with her. Not sure what the actual address is, but you can call on 04 3746922. Good luck!

Hi Lyn66, We looked at The Villa last year before deciding to stay put for another year. We heard about lots of problems with pools etc. but we really liked the area for the kids to have some space to move around and get out on their bikes. We are strongly thinking about making the move after summer. Can you offer any advice as a resident? Cheers

The Cut Above on Beach Road is good too, been going there for years! Not sure what the Mall's called though, maybe Jumeirah Centre? It's the one just before Magrudys anyway.

Fantastic - thanks TSmith99! Looks like I may also be able to fill up the forms and let my lovely helper go on her own if I can't make it during their opening hours ;)

We've been living in Motor City for the past 2 years and love it. With rents coming down everywhere we've been looking around at Villas, but to be honest we haven't seen anything that fits the bill in terms of the facilities we have here on our doorstep. The apartments are spacious. There's an abundance of pools and gyms, now with staggered pool opening times, plenty of places for the kids to play. Including small parks for young kids, football goals for older kids and plenty of pathways away from the roads for kids to play safely on their bikes, skooters etc. Not sure what our rent will be if we decide to stay on next year, on Dubizzle you can get a 3 bed for around 90-95K. We're paying a bit more than that but we also have a closed kitchen which is our preference and a little hard to come by I think - most apartments have open kitchens? The kitchens are equipped with appliances and I think all LL's are responsible for Emicool. We've had our share of problems with leaky pipes, but no worse than I've experienced anywhere before. the maintenance guys are always on hand to get stuff fixed. Good luck finding somewhere suitable :)

Evening Ladies, Does anyone know if there is a site where you can download the appropriate form to process a maids exit permit from the Philippines? I've managed to leave travel plans to the last minute and have no idea how I'm going to get to the offices in Abu Hail/ Al Wuheida before my maid travels next Tuesday (if that's the only office there is?)
