Having taught in "Arab" and "Western" schools in Dubai and done supply around the city I've never seen a school that doesn't have a healthy eating policy. Schools can only do so much, its not their job to raise children. Perhaps if you don't want your children to eat the treats that other children bring in you could teach your child to say no thanks, or is self control something that should be added to the curriculum as well?

Is it the man or woman who is Christian? I married my Muslim husband in the Dubai Court with no problems, just a lot of paperwork beforehand

As a teacher I always find it horrifying when children sing songs like this, yeah they dont understand the lyrics but it exposes them to sexual content at such a young age.

There is nothing quick and simple about getting married in Dubai, if you're in a position to get married at home I would def go for that first. Also having to take a ticket and wait in line takes the shine off the day just a little :)

I can second that, we've used Arabian Nights for all our visitors and we've always had a fantastic time, last time the driver even gave me back the entertainer vouchers so we could use them again :)

Hubby is convinced we're having a boy, even though they've said girl at all the scans. Actually too afraid to buy girly things in case he's right!

Just wanted to add, been seeing Dr Yamini since my 6th week and as a first time mum I'm a bit lost and she had been so reassuring and is always available to answer questions, I've found they always call really quickly with test results. We only went there for our first appointment as it was the closest hospital at the time but decided to stay as the staff and facilities are so lovely. I just hope my delivery goes as smoothly as everything else has so far :)

Thanks for the reply. We decided against it, it just seemed too overwhelming at this stage in the pregnancy to uproot our lives in ten days. Now I'm in a tizzy about staying in Dubai or going back to Scotland to give birth.

My advice is to at least get an insurance to cover premature birth, NICU, complications, etc... My friend at least got those things covered when she was pregnant without insurance, and it was really worth it. The baby was born only a few weeks premature and only spent a few days in the incubator, but that alone cost nearly 15,000 AED extra on top of everything. I'd hate to think how much she'd have to pay if the baby needed more treatment or more days in the incubator. Laura do you know which company she got this insurance through? Im in the same situation and it would be a huge weight off my mind. Thanks
