Hi I once saw an ad for an UBER type service for trucks and vans. I need to transport something and I'm alone so don't want the hassle of dealing with the labourers with the trucks on the corner near MoE. Does anyone know the name? Have you use them before? Thanks in advance :)

I used to be that child. I used to scream and cry and beg my mum not to go to work from the age of 4 because I loved the power I had over her - as when I did it it would always get a reaction. I could see that it worked. Obviously I didn't know what I was doing at the time. And I look back and feel awful about it poor mother! I think the main thing is to not show any emotion in order to show it's perfectly normal

I've used them for lots of different bits and bobs. They are reputable but I'm not sure how much money can be made by individuals. There seem to be a lot of companies/agencies from India/Pakistan under cutting each other. I supposed you'd have to work very cheap to build up your profile/reputation to begin with.

I hadn't thought of it from the purchasers perspective! Thanks for you're comments. I'll have to wait until I get my passport back and hope to sell it v quickly before leaving the country.

My visa is being cancelled so I don't have them but I need to sell my car. The info on EW says only the buyer needs ID. Can anyone remember from the last time they sold a car?

Unfortunately there's only one Doctor Heather. Make the appointment but keep hassling them for a cancelation appointment. If you're flexible then you'll definitely get one soon. She's worth the wait :)

Unless the seller can provide evidence of origin (and prove me wrong), all the expensive dogs here are from puppy mills outside the country. They are expensive because people make a living from importing and selling them. It will break your heart if you're puppy dies from some awful illness, (I know 2 different people that had this experience in Dubai). If you really have to have a pedigree puppy, please get one from a registered breeder and import yourself otherwise you are supporting these b@&£/?!s that exploit these poor animals to get rich :(

From everything I've read on other forums, it can take 3 months to get the family visa. If he accepts the job, will he start straight away? If so then it could be sorted for you to go in September but if he doesn't start until September then it seems very unlikely :( I'm going in September but it'd be good to get the visa now so I can apply for a husband visa so he could come with me - unfortunately things don't work like that so it looks like I'll go alone and wait months for him to get there. ho hum ...bring the challenge on!

Thanks QueenL, I've done a search and can't find much about them. Have you personally used this company before? It's a bit scary putting all your favourite stuff in a truck and letting them drive off without you.

Great news about Careem! That makes me feel better :0) I'm also about to make the move and I've read a lot of positive stuff about living there. Try not to talk to people who haven't been as they're super negative based on there idea of what it will be like. I've spoken to several women that have lived there and have loved it. I think we have to accept it's completely different to Dubai. The only (yes really only one thing!) negative thing they said was the lack of transport for women. SO having Careem around will be great. What are you doing about land transport for all your 'stuff'? This is what I'm trying to research today.

Thanks for your replies. I know that if the community doesn't allow pets it doesn't matter what's in your contract they can make you get rid. This is what happened in JBR in about 2008 - it was awful. Thanks again

I have to go to the UK embassy to get a Certificate of No Impediment' so I can get married. However, on the website it says bring your 'Full Birth Certificate' and I'm not sure what that means. The only one I've had is about 10cm x 10cms - is that the correct one?

Thanks coffee-mate, I wasn't sure; a friend just told me about it so I didn't know that. 1st hand experiences are always better than reading all the promotional info that's designed to sell. DesertRose, why is the band better than the balloon? doesn't it work on the same principle of making you feel full? Thanks for responding - greatly appreciated :0)

Thank everyone. We got another sighting around 6.30pm in Barsha but still couldn't find him. Yes you can approach him bit he'd be so scared I doubt he would let you get close before he ran away. If you used his name and a high pitch voice he'd be okay

Late this morning our blind ginger/white saluki type dog hot scared and escaped. He was seen going from jumeirah village to al khail road. He was seen on the fly over and also near al barsha mall at lunch time. We've been out looking for him but haven't had any sightings since. If anyone sees him can you please call me 0506537712 We're so worried about him. Thanks
