Hi apr04, I was just wondering if you've actually met Jennifer and if you know why she left her last employer? Thanks

Their hairdressers are not bad. There are some really good nail technicians and some not quite so great. Never tried any of their other services. I do know they have lovely flavoured teas though ?

Firstly, congratulations on your engagement! It really is a shame that such an exciting and personal event gets high jacked by others, but I'm sure there's still a way to have the wedding you want. I write and conduct blessing ceremonies - let me know if you'd like to know more. Otherwise, have you had a look at http://brideclubme.com. There's loads of information on there about planning a wedding in Dubai and I know the founder replies to all queries personally, so if you don't find the information you're looking for you can always ask. Good luck with it all!

I had a meeting with Sally on Monday to discuss my birth plan but I forgot to ask her about what I need to pack for hospital. Does anyone know whether the hospital supply things like nappies, wipes etc, or whether I need to pack EVERYTHING for the baby? Thanks

Hubby and I got engaged about 6 weeks after we started dating and got married 6 weeks later. That was 21 years ago. :) (We were 20 at the time) Sometimes you just know... (that's not to say you don't have to work hard sometimes!) edited by tmbb11 on 31/05/2014

I'm not sure where you are located, but apparently Magnolia Nursery (next to the Radison Blu in Downtown) accept kids for Daycare who aren't actually registered at the nursery. [i'>Day Care fee: AED 40 per hour. We offer parents the flexibility to bring their kids even if they are not registered in our nursery for one or more hours anytime between 08.00 and 18.00. Discounts are available for different packages.[/i'> I can't vouch for the nursery as I've never been there - i just came across the info when researching Nurseries.

Hi. I need to get rid of my old bed (not in good enough condition to sell) but I'm not sure how to dispose of it here. At home I would take it to a refuse centre... Hoping a more experienced expat can advise. :) Thanks

I need to buy a shower screen (and then have it installed) Can anyone suggest the best place to go for this? I had thought Ikea, but they only seem to do shower curtains, ditto Ace Hardware. Thanks

Hi Jussie, My last birth was a water birth (in the UK) and I was desperate to have another, which is why I've chosen to deliver at Al Zahra. They don't offer water births yet (they are hoping to in the near future - i've got my legs crossed waiting!) but they do have portable birthing pools for use during labour. You can book a tour of the labour ward which is conducted by their head midwife and she's more than happy to answer your questions. Sorry, can't help with information about Doulas but i have seen several threads on here about them - it might be worth doing a search if you don't get any replies. Good luck!

Hi. We are considering moving to Sky gardens in DIFC and I just thought I'd see if anyone has lived or lives there and can give us an idea what it's like. Thanks in advance.

I just rang the phone number from their website and asked about tours. The first time I was told to just turn up, but I rang to check that I was given a time for a tour.

I did the Al Zahra tour and was very impressed (see the Al Zahra thread). I'm registered to deliver there mid July. Hope they're able to offer water births (rather than just birth pools for labour) by then!

Hi. I'm due mid July and have just registered at Al Zahra. I did the tour last month and loved both the hospital and the head midwife. I had a baby in England 18months ago at a midwife run birth unit and what Al Zahra are offering sounded very similar - right down to the birthing pools for labour. I had my first appointment with Dr Yamini yesterday and was impressed - she was friendly enough and very efficient. I can imagine she would be very calm in an emergency - though god forbid any of us should need to find out!

I'm thinking of getting a baby hammock for my new baby instead of a cradle. [url=[url=http://www.babyhammocks.com/Benefits-Features'>link[/url'>'>link[/url'> I just wondered if anyone has used one for their LO or knows of anyone who does? Its quite an expensive purchase as I'd have to ship it from overseas, so I'd really appreciate feedback from anyone with experience or knowledge. Thanks

Ok I am sure this is a stupid question, but need to ask anyway... (I asked on pregnancy forum but didn't get any replies) If I have full insurance cover do I still need to purchase a maternity package from the hospital, or do I just pay as I go? Thanks

Hi Sunny Sky, welcome to Dubai. FS1 is equivalent to Nursery in UK, it's followed by FS2 (Reception in UK) and then Grade 1, as I understand.

Hi, I'm due with my 4th around 11th July. Morning sickness is just starting to ease up a bit, thank god. I'm thinking about Al Zahara hospital - i really like what I've read about it so far, but will reserve judgement til I go have a look. To be honest I'm just concentrating on getting through the first trimester - I have a history of miscarriages, so don't want to get too ahead of myself.

Thank you katerpuss, that's a very helpful response! Do you mind me asking how much you're paying? I'm looking at 5 bedroom town houses for around 170,000 online but I'm not sure if that really is how much they're going for! Also, my daughter is wondering if taxis are able to find the area ok?

Have a look for Shirley Lawson on Facebook. She did some family photos for us and we loved them but I have seen some of her boudouir shots and they are very nice! (Occasionally a client lets her post a few)

This is one of the reasons I am looking at the IB curriculum. I think the starting age in the UK curriculum is far too young!

Thank you so much - have downloaded both those apps and they look great! Tutoring over skype sounds really good - especially from someone who knows what its like to learn the language. If you could provide her contact details I'd really appreciate it! my email is toni at argen dot org - so you don't have to post her details on a public forum. thanks!

Hi, I have lived in Executive Towers for about 18mths now and love it (I have two teenages and a baby) The access to the towers is great now and there are so many lovely cafes and restaurants. The podium level is a great place for the kids to play when the weather is nice (and when its not they can hang out on Mezzanine level where there aren't many shops open yet) One of the cafes here runs two coffee morning/afternoons for Mums and Tots which is lovely. And the new playgrounds, running track and skate park should be open any day now. Its an easy 5-10min walk to the metro (dpending on your pace) I do it a lot when the weather is nice, though have to admit I grab a taxi to it in the middle of Summer! I also love being so close to Dubai Mall, Al Quoz Pond Park and Safa Park. Good luck with your search!

Hi, Depending on where you are my daughter may be able to help. She is a Year 13 student at JC who babysits for a few friends and for me with her baby sister (16months old). She is very responsible and the kids really love her. We are in Executive Towers in Business Bay.

We are thinking about moving to Italy when we are done here (in 4 or 5 years) so I'd like to start learning Italian now. I've downloaded a few language apps to get me started but wondered if anyone can recommend a good tutor? (Prefer this to going to classes as it will be easier to work around my LO) Thanks

Congratulations Guzzie. You can always have a beautiful Blessing ceremony after you've completed the legalities. A lot of expats do that. It would be worth having a look at Bride Club ME, I've found they have LOADS of really useful advice.
