Hi Gwenny I have moved my children from another school here in Dubai to NAS. Here are some of the reasons: Staff have been transparent from the beginning. Regular updates on Facebook about the building, it's ahead of schedule. There is no guessing game as to when and if it will open. 20 children max in a class, large classrooms with lots of light coming through Carefully selected staff, you can read about each staff member on NAS's Facebook page School offers a variety of relevant languages for native and non native speakers Open and honest communication with parents and children A school that is academically strong but looks at the whole child by offering a wide variety of after school activities. NAS has a community feel ( via Facebook page) and has not opened yet. My family lived in China for a long time. There were 2 British Schools run by Nord Anglia in the city I lived in. They were both outstanding on every level. The current Principal and his immediate team ran the British School in Beijing, it was one of the top schools in the city. Note: I am not a staff member or affiliated with the school in any other way except as a parent whose children have been lucky enough to be accepted into the school. I know how hard it can be choosing a school in Dubai and thought you may like to hear another opinion. Good luck with your decision.

Hello ladies Thank you very much for your feedback. The boys will be going to Gems Royal Dubai. It's nice to get Feedback about the school. My husband went to visit the school and said it was a smaller school ( which is what we were looking for) but didn't feel overcrowded. My main concern was the class sizes in terms of teacher /child ratio. It does seem to be the norm for schools in Dubai from the feedback on the forum whose children go to other schools. One more question, does the bus take the children home after school activities provided by the school? It seems I will have to pick my 3 year old up early and if the bus does not bring the children home after school activities, I'll have to go back to school to pick up my 8 year old. How do people manage this? Once again, thank you very much. We arrive on 10th November, will sort put uniforms and will begin a day or two later,

Hello, my kids are at Royal Dubai and we are very happy there. The class sizes are large, but thats about the same in all schools here. The school itself though is not that large and I certainly don't feel it's the kind of place kids would get "lost" although Gems Silicon Oasis which is the high school they would normally "feed into" is - it's enormous and I don't think we'll go there, but that's a decision for a bit later! I've used the bus for one term when I couldn't drive for medical reasons. I was terrified as you see some horrendous driving from school buses over here. I have to say the service was fabulous and very transparent. I had the drivers mobile phone number etc. Re Mandarin, I'm not aware of any kids schools, but there are often people posting on here to arrange language playgroups/private or small group lessons. There are also of course the adult language schools. Good luck with the move!

Thank you for your feedback. I have heard that class sizes are huge compared to Shanghai international schools. I'm a little afraid that the boys will "get lost" in a large class. We will look at the bus pick up times when we get there. It will be a very early start for them. Thanks again.

Hello there, We are moving to Dubai next month and are looking at Gems a royal Dubai for my 2 boys aged 8 and 3. We will be living near Mirdiff. Does anyone have children currently going there that can tell me if they're happy with the school, class sizes, bus to and from school for both boys? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated? Also, we have been living in China for the past 12 years. Both boys speak fluent Mandarin. Are there any schools that offer mandarin at a high level or a mandarin school that they can go to on a Saturday morning? Thank you in advance.
