Normal wait time is under 1 year when born outside canada...and for both of mine I recieved after about 10-11 months. 19 months definitely not normal, what are they saying at embassy? Are they saying it's normal. If it were me I would probably call or email Ottawa explaining situation and ask them what's going on...

I have heard great things about dr.hassan, but not for 'medical' issues such as skin cancer...would go there if I needed Botox, etc...Again all the dermatologists on the meddy list are from his clinic and the one from al alhi is no longer working there....

Thanks mrsw2, I actually went to dr enas and thought the office was unsterile and disorganized as I had a mole removed and it honestly felt like the first time they did the procedure, and I questioned how sterile everything was to be honest!!! Sarahz123, no medical dermatologist on there but thanks anyways ;-(

Only way to get in maid is on your UAE residence visa and then she can stay for 6 months. If she is philipina you will not be able to get her on your Qatar visa after the six months....if she is indonesian, Indian, Sri lanken or Kenyan then it will be possible to do her residence once in Qatar once you get approval. Plants should be okay if you drive, pets don't know... edited by tia75 on 13/05/2014

The vitamix is soooo overpriced here and is not BPA free ;-( ...you should have a look at the thermomix, bit more expensive but totally worth it as it really is so much more then a blender!!

Bonaparte is difficult to get in, but voltaire has two campuses (west bay and al waab) and the one in al waab is opening a second campus....so might be easier to get into al waab. Coming as a transfer student from a lycee you should be able to get in from what I am told. Registration opens beginning April so just make sure to register first day.

Zeee it is ridiculous to actually complain that someone is generous enough to offer you clothes...what's even stranger is that a few months ago you were asking people on EW (complete strangers) for a free car seat ??!!! So you snub used clothes from someone you know but are asking complete strangers for a car seat???? Did you ask you friend for a car seat and instead she gave you used clothes... Haha sorry but little ridiculous to rant especially since you have been asking for handouts!!!

Buy a thermomix...they are expensive, but basically does the cooking for you and very easy to use and follow recipes!! And best of all you make everything from scratch...and takes no time (and has a timer so you can do stuff while food is cooking ;-).

I had long plastic pieces cut that I put so door won't open when if it is in place. Usually they are made in wood, but couldn't find so using the white plastic that is used to keep cables for tv in place....works perfectly ;-)

In canada maybe six months ago....but you do have to do the proper test to see what you are intolerant to...I know many nutritionists do it in Dubai through blood work (in canada it is also done with blood work).

It does work but you have to do proper allergy testing (blood work), not sure what you are talking about Daza that one size fits all??!!! And it does not change day to day, however it can change over time ie. over years....

iammj it is a proven method for weight loss. I know many people who have done it and it works. My sister lost 10 pounds in the first month. The point of this 'method' is that if you are intolerant to let's say gluten, you should avoid it... Once you start eliminating food groups that you are intolerant to you start losing weight. My sister is intolerant to gluten and eggs, but can eat everything else... Once you do the allergy / intolerant test they usually give you a list of foods you are intolerant to...the food in the 'red' you should avoid altogether, items under 'yellow' should be in moderation, and 'green' listed items you can eat as you wish. It is a test that everyone should do not just to lose weight but to live healthy, also helps with people that have health problems to, as diet is a huge factor in most health related problems...

Am not sure about alimony and child support but I do know that he can get custody of the child as in UAE it is usually the father that gets custody of children if it goes to court....so she should be careful if she is still in the country with the baby and speak to a professional to see what her rights are.

I disagree...how is she supposed to contact her family without internet? What we did is we bought extra computer that only she uses...however if she leaves it goes to the next maid. As for phone, we bought her regular phone when she started with sim, then upgraded her to blackberry (which is what she wanted) on her birthday year later.

I am 37 weeks. Polyhydramnios happens in 1% of pregnancies and 2/3 or the time they don't know why. They did all the tests and all seems to be fine. But did they actually tell you that you had Polyhydramnios??? As that is crazy if they did as they really do not know what they are talking about and shouldn't be scaring pregnant women.....

Johjoh, I too am in late pregnancy and have Polyhydramnios and am measuring 27. Not sure why your doctor is telling you that you have it when Polyhydramnios is when you have AFI levels above 25. At 18 you are definitely in the norm so I wouldn't worry, I would only worry that your doctor is telling you this!!!! And as meagle noted, no doctor changes due dates in the last trimester, it just means your baby is big. I know it's late in pregnancy but maybe you should see another doctor as she is full of misinformation...... edited by tia75 on 20/08/2013

Thankyou kiwiwispers for all the info, I was starting to panicking, especially reading somewhere you needed vaccines for birth certificate (but maybe in certain hospitals). I am seeing dr. Maha, she seems really good but unfortunately she is leaving on vacation for the next month, and I should give birth within the month.....have you had experience with any of the other doctors? Thanks again for all the info ;-)

no but am told they could be bird mites or monkey fleas ??!!! Honestly, i would really recommend you stay away. Not only for these disgusting bugs, but the condition of the poor animals is heartbreaking. We were just in the area and went spur of the moment, but normally we go to Al Ain zoo which is really nice, and i heard there is a nice one on way to abu dhabi (emirates park zoo).

I live in Al Furjan and quite nice but way to far from airport. Without traffic it is about 45-60 minutes away...so i would definitely not suggest such a far commute. I would suggest either mirdif or even Garhoud. Also, school starts at 3 years old here so maybe see what school you want (or get into...as most have waiting lists). Ideally you move close to school (or between work and school).

Hi Tia. Schools. Bonaparte is entirely managed by the French diplomacy; Voltaire is a "lycée franco-qatari" and was set up as a partnership between France and Qatar. The population is less French, more international. Bonaparte has got "quotas" and the priority is for French nationals. But you have to be quick, my co-worker had to submit the application for her son end of Feb I believe. Yes both schools are in West Bay. I don't think the Pearl is too far at all. I don't live there but think it's pretty nice and has improved a lot in the last 12 months. It's lively and I see more and more families. Plus a lot of the towers have got great facilities for kids (play rooms, pools). In terms of compound look at West Bay and Duhail. There are also very nice towers in West Bay. Also look at compounds near Landmark: there are plenty and all quite close to Bonaparte and even Voltaire. Nothing to add regarding hospitals for kids. If you go on the French website (vivreauqatar) they recommend French-speaking paeditraticians. I tried so many doctors in Doha, and in the end I gave up and decided to go to one that has never been recommended to me but is very local and I'm happy with her. However, if anything serious happens to your child it is well known that you should take your child to Hamad Hospital and not to Al Ahli and I can confirm that as I had a very scary experience there... I'm pregnant and I see an gynaecologist at Al Ahli that was recommended to me by many friends. She is trained in Germany. Good luck with the move. Thank you Toriabelle. We applied to both Bonaparte and Voltaire, so i guess we will see where/if she gets in ;-) Would you mind giving me the name of the german trained gynaecologist? Would appreciate it. Will check out vivreauqatar!!! What are the names of the compounds near landmark? Sorry am having to do all the research on-line and will send my husband to look at the compounds on his next business trip to doha. edited by tia75 on 22/03/2013

As per RERA he must give you 12 months notice in writing. A 1 year contract is always renewable unless otherwise stated. I went to RERA and they are quite clear about this.

we are paying AED165,000 (2 chqs), but we paid for landscaping. So either we sell to landlord (but he will probably up the rent), or we sell to new tenant...needs to be sorted! Most of these villas are not landscaped and going for AED180,000, so it is a good deal. We need to relocate beginning to mid-may...Let me know if you are interested.
