Hello Gdrmvrm and amy77. I agree with amy77 on this, there are no good resources or doctors available here for the treatment of PCOs. They often start testing you for other things like thyroid, or as amy77 mentioned, are obsessed with just getting you pregnant by any means necessary. PCOs does not necessarily involve having cysts to have it, you can just have the symptoms, biggest one being insulin resistance. I've done a lot of research as I am a fellow PCO'er! There are two natural supplements which have surfaced in the past couple of years which are alleviating and dramatically improving PCOs symptoms. Fortunately, I was able to get them whilst in the US. I suspect if you get them shipped here the customs peeps will dispose of them :( Check out Pregnitude (contrary to the name it is not only used to help you get pregnant) it actually gives a woman with PCOs what her body cannot make on its own, therefore relieving her of many symptoms. The other one is called Glucorein HOP. I suggest you research both of these and start at your earliest, as there are no side effects because both are natural and have helped many women both trying to fix their PCOs and get pregnant as well. If you eventually intend on getting pregnant these are also wonderful because they promote healthy ovulation and therefore get your body ready for the long run. Check out PCOSDIVA for more information on both. It's extremely difficult having PCOs especially in a part of the world where Doctors don't even really have a clue about what you're going through or how to even treat you! edited by Nas08 on 07/04/2014

Thanks for the info, RJM-40. Do you know how much she charges and her phone number? Have you done Pilates with her?

Do any of you lovely ladies know if there are any good Pilates classes being offered in the Pearl/West Bay area? Would love to start a nice unpretentious Pilates practice. Thanks in advance!

It is a showcase of food from restaurants and hotels all over Doha. They have stalls set up where you can go and try their specialties. Smaller quantities, reasonably priced so you can try several different foods from all over.

Wow! Thank you lovely ladies for all of your very helpful input. So here's what I decided to do: May: Marriot June: Ritz July: W (maybe) and definitely CrossRoads breakfast buffet August: Home sweet home :) So this way, I have a somewhat enjoyable and eventful summer in the otherwise scorching and boring Doha! And, I get to experience these amazing brunches and hopefully not put on too many lbs! Thanks again!

Hi GinaM, No kids it's just going to be the two of us :) So in terms of food, which would you say has the best? Variety and taste... The 100 metre buffet is quite appealing but I'm still torn as to whether to go to Ritz, Marriot, or W. Sorry, I'm the most indecisive person :)

I don't suggest purchasing diamonds in the Middle East as I have noticed they lack terribly in color and quality. They overcharge you for poorly colored diamonds and focus more on quantity and flash than actual quality here. Definitely take a look and research in America as well, if you have the resources to do so. Else, be aware that jewelers in the Middle East keep huge profit margins in diamonds so bargain, bargain, and bargain!!!!

Thanks Jonners! Here is the link to the spring schedule: http://www.stenden.com/en/locations/qatar/AboutStendenInstituteQatar/Pages/ArabicCoursesSchedule.aspx I would call them to make sure they are still running the class, sometimes they cancel due to not enough demand. Hoping enough people enrol so I can continue with Arabic 2.

meli, Stenden is located near Hamad hospital. It's the castle shaped building on the corner.. I paid 1700 or 1500, don't remember exactly but it was along those lines.

I took a 6 week Arabic 1 class at Stenden this past fall and it was extremely helpful. I can now read and write pretty proficiently and speak with practice pretty well also. It's worth checking out. I believe they are looking for students to enrol. My instructor was Lubna Amarin, she's really good. Waiting for more people so I can sign up for Arabic 2!

Phendimetrazine or any of these 'fda' approved suppressants are not particularly good for you. I suggest you find another alternative to weight loss, as these often drastically increase your heart rate which in turn causes severe heart palpitations. Meridia, phendimetrazine, etc are all in the same family. Meridia was recalled because people started dying of heart attacks and strokes, and phendimetrazine and bontril contain very similar ingredients. I would advise you to stay away from them, fda approvals don't mean much nowadays as I have seen in the case of Meridia. Sorry to be so thorough, but wouldn't want you to have to experience these horrible things. Happy holidays and a great healthy year ahead :)

Spinjoy, stay in Dubai! You really don't realize how good you've had it until you come here. Of course there are a lot of factors like friends, children, etc. But speaking solely from my experience, I regret our decision to move here every single day of the past year. Dubai is so versatile and there is so much to do there. Doha is expensive, small, and not too exciting any time of the year. The driving isn't really a plus point here either. I don't know what your priorities in life are, but I would not suggest that you make the move from Dubai to Doha, just don't want you regretting it in the end. I am waiting for the day when my DH comes home and says 'time to GO'!!!!

Gone as in out of the country, not from the world! haha When you reach the roundabouts, take your time and make sure it's clear before you zoom into the chaos ahead. There's no such things as lanes here so yes I agree with Deb look to your left and to your right they will be trying to come in at all times. Protect yourself!!!!

It's so alarming to hear these stories. Safiya, I'm glad your hubby is ok. I should have bought a US military TANK before I moved to Doha. That's the only way I think I would feel comfortable driving here :) There is absolutely no respect for life. They drive like they are invincible and it's just disheartening to see things which could have been avoided by simply driving carefully. Maple, don't be nervous, the key is to drive confidently and have eyes everywhere. They come out from nowhere so you have to just be very vigilant when driving. Kimmc and Debk I also take a deep breath, and say a prayer when I get into the car and when I arrive home safely. It's so stressful and I just hate having to worry about this. As if we don't have enough problems as is...this is just another adverse situation to deal with. I wish you all safety and hope these roundabouts are gone soon. Actually, I may be gone before them...or so I hope I am :)

I'm from New Jersey, the home of the 'diner' and this was nowhere near what we are used to back home :/ We ordered the chicken strips with stuffed chili rellenos as a starter, my hubby ordered their classic cheeseburger, and I ordered a chicken burger. For dessert we ordered an ice cream pie which came directly from Opera since it's right next door and that whole plaza has the same owner. The starter fell completely short in terms of taste, flavour, and cooking style. It was chewy and rubbery chicken and nothing special at all. Their beef burger was tasteless and very under seasoned, below avg, to say the least. The chicken burger was the same, nothing special and they had piled on guacamole and called it coriander aioli!!!! The pie was also, to say the least, pretty tasteless and a complete waste of calories... I don't recommend this place until they learn how to do a 'diner' some justice. The menu is great, the end product falls short though :/

I moved from Muscat to Doha also and BOY DO I MISS IT! Oman has much more charm and greenery ;) I hope to return one day very soon. Doha is nice because it has more 'to do' in terms of restaurants, social scene, etc. But Oman has more outdoor activities, charming people, and peace. It's like a never ending holiday! Everyday I ask myself, why did I leave? :/

Hi Amy, Thanks for the info! I actually do want to see her for reasons of fertility. I have not started trying yet and I do feel my PCOs is a bit better but I wanted to consult a physician preferably someone that is aware of PCOs and see what they said. I'd like to try and become pregnant soon and have not seen a specialist other than the woman I was mentioning to you as well as my endocronologist in America a while ago. My only fear is, I do not want to be pumped with medicines off the bat, my sis-in-law is a doctor in the States and was cautioning me on the use of Chlomid and how it should be extremely monitored and used only after trying naturally for around a year. I don't want to end up with triplets if I don't have to! Anyways, thank you so much for this information and I wish you the best of luck in getting knocked up :) Have you been trying for a while? I'm sure it'll all be fine! Thanks again, Nas

Hi Amy, I also have PCOs and coming from the States I wasn't really able to find someone who 'knew' what they were talking about here. I came across a woman in Muscat, also from New Jersey who does PCOs consultations with women from around the Middle East. She's reasonably priced and very very good. Having personal consultations with her really benefitted me and I highly recommend you reach out to her. If you're interested please do send her an email at m e e r a dot g u r n a n i at gmail dot com. Good Luck!

Hi Ladies, Thank you for all of the useful information regarding Arabic courses. I wanted to know which one you think I should go for..I am thinking about Fanar or Stenden. Any of you have experience with either one of these? Any advice/guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
