Pets are family members to many people, to outright ban them, is not the sign that somewhere is 'family' friendly. And of course that comment comes from you, as you are a dog hater anyway. LooooooL,,,, Thinking that rescue dogs should not be rehomed in houses with children, does not make me a dog hatter. Thinking dogs should not be kept in apartments, does not make me a dog hatter Thinking that does should be kept in houses / villas with gardens, does not make me a dog hatter... Thinking that dogs do not make a city progressive, does not make me a dog hatter... What else have i said that could possible be construed as "dog hatting"??? edited by IzzyOnTheSeat on 20/08/2014 It's hater... One t. Izzy, whenever I see your posts I can't help but think that you always try to disagree with whatever somebody writes. You come across as a very unpleasant woman, from what I read on here.

If EK is that awful, why are they doing so well then? EK is significantly cheaper if you're *not* starting the journey in Dubai. When our friends and family come over, they often use EK because its price is competitive with all the alternatives, but for us flying from Dubai back to the UK, EK is always the most expensive, by a significant margin. For example, this summer EK was over 1000 AED per person more expensive back to the UK than any of the other airlines offering a non-stop flight. EK's service really isn't good enough to be worth paying almost an extra thousand quid for over the likes of Royal Brunei. It's interesting that several major companies DH knows in Dubai no longer allow staff to use EK for business flights because it's too expensive. But we've still never seen any spare seats on an Emirates flight .... You have to remember that a lot of the passengers come from connecting flights which could be why the plane is always full... As somebody mentioned here, flights OUTSIDE of Dubai on EK are cheaper than if you start your journey in Dubai. We always fly the cheaper option. Whether it is EK or any other airline. It's not worth staying loyal to one airline ;) It's obviously easier sometimes but lately there are some great alternatives and if you have a connecting flight the stopover is very short and it's effortless changing onto your next plane for the final leg of your journey :) edited by Dauphin on 10/05/2014

Good morning! I want to have bangs cut. Is there a salon that will have a separate price for this? I don't want to pay AED300+ just to cut bangs. TIA

I have to say I laughed out loud when I read the requirement for a Parisian tutor. There is very little regional variation in French accents, especially in expat communities where everyone tends to speak the same way. In my 8 years in Dubai I don't think I have ever come across a French person with a noticeably regional accent. Funny how people tend to be specific when searching for tutors. A couple of weeks ago someone was looking for a French teacher from France, 'with French as their first rather than second nationality'. I may be wrong but to me it sounded as if they only wanted a white person! Somebody from say, Marseille, do have a slightly different accent. My husband always say it sounds like they are singing when they speak ;) Parisian accents can also differ considerably since a lot of 'Parisians' come from all over France. And yes, EmilyG, I agree re the French as their first nationality.

Try to wait a little before doing anything. The colour will fade after a while. Once it is faded it would be much easier to strip the colour and dye it the colour you want. I have done this many times... I used to go dark brunette and then back to blonde and then brunette again etc. It's not ideal, but it's better than sitting with dry straw like hair.

Hi LOLIK, I don't think you have to necessarily get another macaw. What about just getting another bird, like a ring neck (they can also be taught to talk) and keep him in a cage next to your macaw? Do you think that will help him to not be so lonely and frustrated? I am not a bird expert though and I don't know if this will work or not. I just know that ring necks are very friendly birds as I grew up with them. Whatever you decide to do, good luck :) I know this must be hard to see your bird so sad and aggressive :( edited by Dauphin on 09/04/2014

You could try to lodge a complaint to consumer rights? You did pay for a service and it was not delivered. Be sure to let them know that you intent to lodge a complaint against them and if they still do not respond (which normally they will to prevent a case against them) then lodge your complaint. HTH ETA I don't think running to the police every time something happens in Dubai is the way to go. There are ways to solve a problem before involving the police, plus they have more important things to deal with. edited by Dauphin on 29/03/2014 edited by Dauphin on 29/03/2014

Fertility can be such a mystery. I would highly advise you that you both be tested. For men it's very easy to see how his boys are working. There could be many factors and I'm no expert, but we found out the hard way that my DH had the mumps when he was 18 (very bad case) and he never knew that it would make him infertile. Then again if all is good maybe some form of IVF may help fire up your oven. I wish you every luck that you both can have the family you wish for xx Thank you Missy Moo xoxo

Hi FaiyDust, I’m at work so can’t write a full reply. I will make an appointment to see my gynae this week. I will mention to her my concerns about PCOS and Endometriosis and see what she says. Is it easy to be picked up? I mean, I had an internal ultrasound done not too long ago. Can PCOS or Endo be diagnosed with an ultrasound? Or do you have to get blood tests? I am so scared, I really hope I don’t have PCOS or Endo or anything else :( edited by Dauphin on 16/02/2014

Everything in moderation. Good fats are good for you, bad fats are bad for you if you have too much. Sugar is bad for you if you have too much. Lots of fresh vegetables and fruit and oily fish and some proteins and a lot of water. Exercise a minimum of 30 minutes a day. It's easy really. 'Diets' and 'Intolerence test' are just there to make money, don't fall for it. It really is not that hard to live a healthy life. Moderation is the key word ;)

Arent hot irons bad for the hair. Im too scared to my hair falling. Pls advise if you have experienced hair fall with the straighteners. If you use the GHD everyday and glide over your hair too many times then yep, you will damage it. But that is not how you are supposed to use it. You only need to glide over your hair once (twice if you have very curly hair). And ALWAYS use a heat protect spray. I GHD my hair quite often and my hair is in very good condition. But, I also don't colour my hair which could make a difference

I have had my GHD straightener for nearly 9 years now and it is still going strong! And I use it a lot! In my opinion it does get very hot though. I haven't used any other straightener (except for Remington which is a cheap straightener and not good at all...), so I guess I am a little biased haha! My hair type is fine but I have a lot of hair, and it is wavy. I don't know how well it works on full on curly hair. Hope that helps :)

That one teaspoon of sugar = 4 grams A woman's daily allowance is 24 grams of sugar a day. If you have frosties for breakfast that is 12 grams of sugar add the milk that's another 5 grams, so over half your daily allowance is gone before the day even starts. Add a cup of tea with two sugars you have had your whole sugar allowance for the whole DAY. Im freaked out by this. My children used to have frosties with milk and a glass of orange juice for breakfast. In a glass of fresh orange there is OVER 20 GRAMS of sugar!!! So I inadvertently gave my children way over the RDA of sugar. Now I am like a woman possessed I look at every label to see how much sugar is in the things we eat ......its shocking how much hidden sugar is in EVERYTHING we buy. You could always water down the juice? Maybe start by adding little by little so your children can get used to the watered down juice. I normally add half water half juice. Once you get used to it you actually realise just how sweet juices are! :)

And that's not hidden sugars. So called diet products are even worse, with artificial sweeteners. Best to stay away from anything processed, just buy pure foods, that seems to be the safest option! Yep, all these low fat 'healthy' 0% fat yogurts are LOADED with sugar... The best way to look at is is to make everything from scratch. Prepare all your own food (from non-processed items). Also, people should realise it's not FAT (obviously in moderation) that let you gain weight, it's sugar. Sugar is so bad for you...

Good morning ladies I am looking for a makeup case, similar to this: http://www.amazon.com/Travel-Cosmetic-Organizer-Makeup-Artist/dp/B004J768N8/ref=sr_1_6?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1386739845&sr=1-6 (Sorry, I can't figure out how to use the link!) I went to Dubai Mall, Dubai Outlet Mall and Festival City and nobody stocks makeup cases... Thank you for your help xoxo
