dub27 I gave birth at Al Zahra with Dr. Yamini. I cannot recommend her highly enough. She is very good, calm, patient and pro natural. Eventhough I had a c-section, I was not forced to it and waited until the very last moment to see if I could deliver naturally.

hey to you all!! My baby girl arrived on the 25th of August at 10.14. My water broke at 01.30, arrived at the hospital at 2.30, contractions started about an hour later and at 8cm the baby was still high and too big for me, plus the umbilical cord was wrapped around baby's neck so it could not come out the natural way, so we had to do a c-section. 1st time mum and excited for my little princess!!!!

Hello Ladies. Have any of you bought any delivery packages at Al Zahra? It has an included charge for Labor Suite and Ward supplies up to a certain amount (depending on the package). Do any of you know what this concerns or includes? i.e. nappies, panties etc. I do not have insurance coverage so I'm trying to find the best solution. xxx

Hello!!! Angel Joy_ I even feel that walking in the house. So exhausted...no energy...back and legs hurt a lot...bump is huge...washroom trips almost every hour. I'm due at the end of August but really think that the baby will come out a lot earlier as I can feel her pushing down already. I just hope she stays in till the first week of August and after that she can come out and play!!!! At my last appointment, Dr. was concerned as I have a lot of amniotic fluid and she is afraid of high glucoze. So I'm on a diet and measuring my glucoze 4 times a day. So far the measurements are more than good, sometimes too low!!, so don't think I have a problem but will definitely keep measuring. Diet...I have never had diet in my life and having now is so stranga. I have gained 11 kg so far and the last month I had lost 1 kilo (before the diet started) propably because of too much vomiting. My friends make fun of me that I'm gonna lose all 11 kilos before I give birth!!! Also, my baby is kind of big. Last measurement was at 33w and she measured as if she was 36w. Weighting approximately 2350. And since I'm pretty petite, Dr. is also a bit concerned about that as she says that if I go all the way till the end of August she will have reached 4 kg. To be honest, I'm not concerned about this at all as I'm thinking that a lot of petite women have big babies naturally with no problem. At least I'll try and if we see that It's not possible then we will consider other options (hopefully not!!!). Hope all you girls are great and enjoying the last few weeks!!!!

Thank you all so much for your replies. I agree with you - DivineBeet - that AETNA reps are not up to speed. he HR rep fro the company told us that the baby is covered once we provide the birth certificate. Just want to doudle check with that as well, to be on the safe side. I'll make sure to let you know of their reply.

Josie - Back home we have the Doppler scan at 32w but here it is up to the doctor to deside if needed. I visited my doctor yesterday(30w+4d) and she did not mention anything about Doppler Scan. CG9 - is everything fine with your little one now? How are you all doing? I am having huge heartburns, nausea, belly pains and cannot walk for more than 10 minutes without feeling that the baby is pushing hard to come out!!! Still 2 months to go and I really can't wait!!!!

Hello to you all Hello CG9 13 weeks for me and have started looking forward to it. I am having a scan on Sunday to see if my placenta has moved up, since at 20th week it was very low. And also to get my flight permit as I'm going back home for 2 weeks for summer holidays!!! So excited!!! I have started doing a bit of shopping as I desided not to transfer everything from home (I have everything from my sisters) and buy new ones from here. Have bought a crip so far and am looking at strollers. All of my mother friends tell me to buy something that is very simple and very light as there is no point in investing a lot of money on a stroller because I'll not use it a lot. But it is very hard to explain to them that things here are completely different from back home as far as stroller usage is concerned. Back home it is not easy at all to go out with a stroller and enjoy the walk with your baby as cars are parked on pavements and there is no space for the stroller. So noone uses strollers more than once a month!!!! Here you can go everywhere and you use it a lot. I agree with the very light part, especially since I'm quite petite but the very simple part is a bit tricky. I have seen a few strollers at centerpoint (big sales in all baby items till the 6th of June) and I'll most propably go with a Graco one.

Regarding the travelbox: you must make sure that the cat inside is comfortable and able to stand up and rotate itself. When standing the kennel must be at least 10cms higher than its head. The kennel must have 2 feeding trays that attach on the door. The door must be metal and must lock. The hinges of the door must surpass the frame of the door.It must also have some absorbing material at the bottom of the kennel and no wheels. The 2 parts of the kennel must be attached together with screws. My travelbox was 60x40x40, which I believe was huge for my regular size cat, but they did not accept anything smaller. I used Emirates cargo (Skycargo) but bookied it through a greek cargo shipment company. Have a look at http://www.iata.org/whatwedo/cargo/live-animals/pets/Pages/index.aspx http://www.dkc.ae/docs/The_Science_of_Travel_Boxes_and_Measuring_Your_Pet.pdf For MOEW: http://www.moew.gov.ae/en/our-services/animal-wealth/permits/إصدار-إذن-استيراد-حيوانات-الرفقة-قطط-ـ-كلاب.aspx Press Start the service then register and from then on it is pretty straight forward. I do not remember my login details to log in and explain more but I do not remember having any problem. (regarding the arabic name are you sure you are filling in the correct form?)

I imported my cat from Greece about 6 months ago and did it on my own. 1. your pet must have an International Certificate of vaccination and health (passport), all vaccinations up to date, microchip placed and rabies blood test results (from a government party). 2. you apply online at MOEW for the import permit. It lasts 30 days. I did pay thought around 220 AED for this permit via credit card. 3. Once you have the import permit, you need to issue a Government Health Certificate of export for unaccompanied live animals. This lasts 10 days so make sure you have already found the cargo airline. 4. When you have this last document, you can book your date with the cargo and ship your pet here. Note that the cage has to be according to IATA or they cargo airline may not accept the shipment. (I used Emirates Skycargo) 5. Some documents must accompany the pet but they will tell you all about it from the cargo. 6. The pet will arrive in Cargo Village and it takes about 2 hours before you can even start the procedure to take the pet. You have to visit many different people and pay the charges there but they guide you through the procedure so it is not frustrating. Make sure you have plenty of cash with you and your credit card. You also have to visit the airport vet. Before you visit him he has already examined the pet to make sure it is ok. You also have to pay him. Our cat's flight arrived at arround 21.00, we went there at 23.00 and had her in my arms at around 02.00, so be patient. I believe that if you can find a late flight like this it is better as there are not a lot of people there and it is faster and easier for you. I'm glad we did it on our own and saved all that money because the flight itself is already too expensive!!!

To be honest I never asked as I thought it was a certainty as they have delivery packages. Has any of you given birth yet or know if they do actually have deliveries at the dubai branch?

Hello Angel Joy Hello everyone I'm in my 23rd week and my body hurts!!! My back hurts, my left side is killing me, some days i cannot walk because my left hip hurts!!! I'm a wreck!!!!hahaha Plus I have heartburn and nausea all day long and I cannot sleep at night!!! Last night I used 5 pillows and managed to get some sleep...at last. But on the other side, my baby girl is kicking like crazy and I'm so happy! I hope all the rest are better than I am xxx My baby girl is on the right side since starting and hasnt changed her position so lying down on my right side i start feeling suffocated after few minutes and lying down on left side all the time has started various aches and pains :) I mostly sleep on the recliner as pillows doesnt help at all. that is the only place i get sleep at all and its still a long way to go... I jinxed myself by saying few days back that my nausea is better in this pregnancy as compared to first. During first pregnancy i had nausea for full 9 months and this time it subsided and went completley away after 4 month but from past 4 days it has returned back. I don't like eating anything in dinner apart from water melon or melon. I can totally understand what you are saying!!! It is exactly the same with me. Baby Girl on the right side from the beginning and painful aches on the left side. As far as nausea, everything stopped for about a month around 5th month and has come back along with heartburns. I hope we feel better sometime soon!!!! xxx

Guys, Just wanted an opinion from you all. I am in my 8th Week now. We are planning to travel to Qatar in 2 days. The trip was planned before we got to know I'm pregnant. Do you think it is safe to travel ? I have read many articles which says it is safe to travel unless you are tagged high risk. We havent done the initial scan yet. Just confirmed through hcg beta and blood test taht I'm pregnant. Please let me know ur thoughts :) I agree with Angel Joy. I travelled back home at 7 weeks and there was no problem. I would advise you to see a doctor first and to have your first scan. You usually have your first scan at around 6th week. In any case have fun at your trip..

Maca1981_ I had my NT scan at Genesis with Dr George. It is my first pregnancy at 31 y.o. During the NT scan he told us it all looks fine but the propability numbers ended up being 1 in 220. So he told us not to have the blood test at all and proposed to have immediatelly the NIPT blood test. As you can understand I completely freaked out and decided to have the NIPT test immediatelly. After leaving the doctor I regreted it as I should have had the normal blood test first and then depending on the results, decide whether to have it or not. But I had already had the test so there was no point thinking about it. When I got home I starting my internet search and I found something that was disturbing. I had my NT scan at 13w+4 days because Genesis did not have an earlier appointment (they knew how far along I was). This test is suggested to be done till the 12 week when the results will be clear. It can be done max till the 13w+6 days but the results get compromized and you dont have a clear picture. I cannot say that my results were not correct BUT I do believe that the doctor should have told me that the results could be compromized because I'm too far along. He did not ever mention it. My doctor back home told that to me immediatelly. Also I believe that since it is a very important scan, when I booked my appointment the nurce should have told me that I would be too far along. I would have gone ssomewhere else. Moreover but highly important to me, is that before having the test, when the nurce was talking to me about my history, she gave me a leaflet of this NIPT test saying that you may need it after the scan. Why would she give it to me before having the scan??? So, my experience was not very good. BUT regardless all the above I would definitely have the NIPT test to make sure everything is ok and not stress about it all through pregnancy. My baby girl's results were great and now I'm in 23rd week. I hope everyhting turns out good for you too.

Hello Girls. My scan was very good. The doctor did not find anything that might be wrong, so I feel very happy!!! Still a bit sick but not that bad as 4 days ago. It is the 10th day now though so I hope it does not last many more days. I'm very happy that your doctor is reassuring you and still keeping my fingers crossed till you have a 100% positive test/scan. FYI: I just got messages from two friend of mine here in Dubai, saying that they received an e-mail at work saying that there is a really bad virus in Dubai adn to avoid public places. Have no idea what this is exactly but better to be careful xxx

I had the Harmony Prenatal non invasive test at 14 weeks as my NT scan's results were not very good and did not want to worry all through pregnancy. It cost 5.500 not covered by insurance. TEST DESCRIPTION The Harmony Prenatal Tests measure the relative proportion of chromosomes to aid in the riskdetermination of fetal trisomies 21, 18, and 13. The Ariosa laboratory developed tests perform adirected analysis of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) in maternal blood and incorporate the fetal fraction ofcfDNA in test results. Test results also incorporate maternal age (or egg donor age) andgestational age-related risk based on information from the test requisition form. Tests have beenvalidated in singleton and twin pregnancies of at least 10 weeks gestational age. Tests are neitherintended nor validated for diagnosis or for use in pregnancies with more than two fetuses, mosaicism, partial chromosomal aneuploidy, translocations, or maternal aneuploidy. Analysis ofcfDNA does not always correlate with fetal genotype. Not all aneuploid fetuses will be classifiedas high risk and some euploid fetuses will have a high risk result. Results should be consideredwith other clinical criteria and communicated in a setting that includes appropriate counseling. X,Y Analysis measures proportions of the X and Y chromosomes. Fetal *** is reported and therisk of *** chromosomal conditions (Monosomy X, XXY, XYY, XXX, XXYY) are also reported at risksof 1% or greater. X,Y Analysis has only been validated in singleton pregnancies.

FirstTimeJitters_ You can definitely visit different doctors until you decide. i did not decide till 12th week and then I changed doctor again as I did not feel very comfortable. You can call some clinics or hospitals to book an appointment and ask them what you have to bring with you. if they need any marriage certificate they will let you know. I only visited a doctor here at 12 weeks as I already had a trip planned back home at 6 weeks so I had my first scan back at home. So since you are going home for your marriage maybe you could wait till then for your scan??

Hello to everyone!! I hope you are all doing fine. We've been pretty quiet!! My sister with her 6 y.o. son was visiting last week and we were always outside doing things so I'm absolutely exhausted now!!! Need to rest!!!! Has anyone started feeling the baby? I am 19 weeks now but can't say I feel any movement. I can tell if she on the left of the right side of my belly most of the time but no movement yet. It's my first pregnancy so everyone is telling me that I just do not understand it, but I really want to feel her! What about bumps? I feel huge at the moment and I still have a long road ahead...My bump is pretty big already so I guess I'll have a huge bump by the end of August, just like my sisters and my mother!! Yes it isn't dangerous at all (for you or baby). I flew 23 hours (including 14.5 hours non stop) to get home when I was around 9 weeks pregnant for both my pregnancies. I can say it was unpleasant though, I was feeling tired and nauseas and the smell of the aeroplane food made me retch, I had ordered vegetarian meals but was presented with things like prawn cocktails which are not safe for pregnant women (you want to avoid food poisoning) and didn't manage to sleep at all (especially the second pregnancy when I had my 18 month son on my lap the whole time). So my advice would be take some snacks, wear comfortable clothes and try and do a day flight so your sleep isn't too disrupted. I also had a scan just before I left to make sure everything was looking fine but the flying itself is not dangerous. The real reason there are restrictions towards the end of pregnancy is just that airlines don't want to deal with babies being born on the plane. edited by kiwispiers on 03/04/2014 I totally agree. It is not dangerous for neither of you but it can be a biy unpleasant if you have nausea. It was not my best experience but would definitely fly again if I need too. Just drink a lot of water and walk around a lot (my back was killing me) and get a lot of rest when you get back. Have a good flight!!!!!!! (I have already scheduled my next flight home for summer holidays in June...at 7 months pregnant!!!)

Hello Ladies, I did have my NT scan a week ago but the results were not very good so now I'm waiting for the NIPT results to come and hope for the best. I truly believe that everything is gonna be fine with my baby as I had the NT scan at 13w+3d and it is common for the measurement to be higher at that stage (if i had known I would have had it earlier!!!) but as you can imagine my spirit is not very high... Apart from that, as ANGEL JOY, my nausea is still prominent in evenings and i am getting a few migraines lately but I hope it will all end soon!!! TKF2014 - As for the baby boy boom...I may be the exception...80% princess but will know for sure in 10 days (with the NIPT results). TKF2014 & Dipz20 - Please do tell us how pilates and yoga went. I'm sorry to take advantage of the thread but I need to ask a question about Al Zahra antenatal Packages. Do any of you have an antenatal package? My question regards the counsaltations and what you do in each. i.e. do you get a scan every month in each visit? I will be booking an antenatal Package at Al Zahra next week and have visited to aks about this matter. They hav etold me that you do get a scan every month (included in the package) but everyone I have asked (in other hospitals) tell me that they do not get a scan every month or are getting charged extra. I could really use your knowledge, as I'm used to having a scan every month (this is the case back home) and it is scary not to!!! edited by NP on 18/02/2014

Thank you so much for your replies. I have booked an appointment with Dr. George for my NT Scan on the 24th of February (13th week, no free appointment before that). I was also told that he has his own patients (delivering) as well so I'll speak with him for that as well. One question regarding City hospital: Do you have a antenatal package? I am looking at the antenatal package but they told me that it includes only 2 ultrasounds (to see the baby) and If you need more you need to pay extra. Is this the case or the nurce did not know what she was talking about. It sounds very strange to get only 2 ultrasounds. Back home you get an ultrasound each month you visit your doctor. This is the way the doctor makes sure that the baby is ok and growing. As for belly showing, I'm also showing since week 7. It is so nice most of the time but it is not funny when I realise my own clothes do not fit me and I look awful in them. Have already started wearing pregnancy collant, as I feel comfortable only in them.

Hello to all future mommys.. Dipz20 & mumofmoo_ Thanks so much for your replies. I'm also concidering Fetal Medicine Center for my NT Scan and for my future 2 important ultrasounds, so it's good to know that you have already tried it and you recommend it. I'll also look into Dr George now that you mentioned him...more so because he is Greek as I am!!! Also can you please tell me the cost of the NT Scan (including PAPP-A test or not??) in both your cases? But I still need to find a doctor for my reqular visits and for my delivery of course. I have already called several times and have not been able to find the appropriate person to talk to, so tomorrow I'm gonna go by MEDICENTER and MEDICARE to ask some questions face to face and to finally decide. Any recommendations for these 2 clinics?? good...bad...doctors? edited by NP on 08/02/2014
