My 44 year old sister in law is pregnant with an IVF baby conceived at the IVI clinic in Valencia. They have a number of clinics around the world. She said they were wonderfully professional and I think (but you would have to check) that they 'guarantee' a pregnancy within 3 cycles or your money is refunded. Presumably there are conditions attached to that, though. Best of luck to you. x

Thank you, Pinks - your reply was really helpful. I always feel that I'm missing out and that there must be a better way to present materials but perhaps I won't worry so much now... Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Does anybody have any recent recommendations for a great make-up artist (more European than the heavier Arabic style make-up), please? Thank you.

I understood that International House no longer exists in Dubai? Of the 2 institutes you mentioned, I would say IH is by far the best, but Eton is okay. As for job opportunities, I would say that the market you are interested in is not good at the moment. The average hourly rate is around Dh100 per hour but you have traveling and preparation, reports and possibly meetings to add in; it's not well paid but it is flexible and it is great fun. In all honesty, if you already have a job that pays decently I would stick with that if I were you until things pick up. Good luck with your search.

I don't really know how to explain what it feels like, Zuhaira, and I can't speak for your husband, but knowing that my parent would pass away soon was super stressful (this had been ongoing for a few months). Once I knew it was very imminent I probably became quite selfish and didn't want to think about normal, everyday people and things - so much of my thinking time was taken up with the loss of my parent and how things would never be the same again. I guess that is perhaps where your husband is at the moment... it will pass, hang in there; he's going through a really tough time at the moment and it's not something you can fully share.

I've just gone through this but from the other perspective - as the one losing the parent. I flew home at short notice to say my final farewell so I don't know if it will help you to tell you how it felt from my perspective. I can only describe it as 'getting in the zone' - once you're surrounded by a medical environment where death is an everyday occurrence something takes over and you just instinctively get on with it and know what to do, somehow. We have an inner strength that we can call upon; I didn't know I had it in me. My focus was pretty much entirely on my parent, and my brother and I went into a kind of lock-down where the outside world had no importance for a short while as we took the final journey with my parent. There was nothing my husband could do to help (he was over here) at the time but I did need his support afterwards when he came for the funeral. So I would say don't feel guilty and wait until he says he needs you to go over. I've spoken to various friends about parents dying and we all have stories to tell of what now seems funny or odd behavior around the time of the death of a parent - things you can't quite understand now with the benefit of time, so don't be surprised if he behaves a little out of character. Good luck; your husband is very lucky to have such a supportive wife.

I read it that that's what the OP is asking - how much to set up her own business legally? There's an article in this week's Time Out about freelancing and it seems that you're looking at roughly Dh20K to set up... Good luck.

We went to RERA because our LL didn't give us 90 days' notice and were told that we were in a 'grey area' and that our LL is different in some way. We were advised that we 'might' win a case against the LL but there was an equally good chance that we wouldn't... So even the 90 day rule seems to be flexible!

Thank you for all your advice and in effect confirming my gut feeling about this watch/brand. I will definitely go and see Tariq in DIFC for a second opinion. Good to know there is an alternative to the dealer.

Thank you for your replies. Unfortunately I'm far from wealthy so it's a big decision whether to repair or abandon!! My gut feeling is that it hasn't been serviced competently previously so perhaps I'll cut my losses now. It's fantastic to read about these lovely vintage watches which some of you are lucky enough to own; they sound gorgeous and I'm envious!

I'm a bit disappointed with my Tag Heuer watch; it's not yet 5 years old and I've just had quite a hefty quote to service and repair it. The movement has worn away and needs replacing and all sorts of other more minor issues need to be addressed including a cracked face. I wear it daily but I don't do any dangerous sports, just the occasional swim in the sea, so I'm disappointed that it hasn't performed better than this. I'm torn between repairing or accepting that this is a defective watch; how long would you expect a watch to last?

I cringe every time I hear the 'fresh' panty liner advert on Virgin radio when I've got children in the car... I hate that one!

Maybe Pie Face in Al Wasl Vita near the post office? I'm not sure if they deliver but might be worth a try. HTH.

I've had this done 3 times and the effect is fantastic for a few weeks. However, it all depends who carries out the process. The first 2 times it was done by a very gentle, professional girl and the effect was exactly what I wanted it. It last well. This particular technician left the business so the third time I had a different girl and an altogether different experience - it was painful and my eyes were streaming. It's completely put me off. So I guess it's entirely down to the technician; please let us know if you find a good one!

Salon Ink - but I'm afraid I can't remember how much it is. I think the conditioner is something like Dh160 but I've no idea about the shampoo. I stopped buying it a while ago.
