Hi Curlyezzy So sorry to hear that you are having such a stressful time. It is a very common condition and hopefully will be over soon. We are not there in Doha yet but hoping to be there in the next 10 days or so. I can bring over one of these combs that you have mentioned from here in the UK. Please let me know if you did not find it by then.

Hi 2nd_Opossum In addition to the above, I will also suggest to seek opinion regarding the knee pain before moving to Doha. Vitamin D deficiency is a global problem now but a high proportion of population is now on Vit D supplements in the UK so you may also wish to get your vitamin D levels checked.

Hi Emma123 Thanks for your reply. Yes, we were aware of this and have looked in to it. Umamani, sorry for the delay in replying to your post. Further to advice from Ali68 and Eleonor, I will suggest that, if possible, you should plan to move over next summer ( July- August ) so that the children can start at the beginning of new school year. Start the process for school places now. Some of the schools will need RP at the application stage, I suggest you ask them before applying. Some of them will allow you to apply once you explain that you have got a position at Sidra and will provide RP once there. As discussed before, school situation has been very difficult but not impossible. If you are also looking for a preschool place, it will be convenient if you could get both children in the same school so keep that in mind when applying for your eldest child. Lastly, search the forum thoroughly for all school related posts ( there are lots of them). I also found that info very helpful. Most of all, be prepared to have never ending patience as the whole process can be quite time consuming though worth it all at the end, I think. Best of luck

Hi Zuhzoh Sorry I don't know much about TNG but as no one else on this forum seem to have any info either, I thought of adding my limited knowledge about this school. Their website seemed impressive enough so I contacted them through email and phone to enquire for a place for my 10 yrs old DD. They were quick to respond but did not have a place for DD hence advised to check later for availability. You might try Doha mums forum to see if there is any info there. You can also try arranging a school tour,if you are already in Doha. Good luck with your school search.

Hello RRTNICU & Welcome to the Forum. I am sure you will have a good chance for being successful in your application with all that experience. As you might have read on the forum, the process can be quite lengthy so lots of patience is required but I am certain it will be worthwhile at the end. Hi Julia 2014. I would suggest to continue with emails/Linkedin and may be try calling up as well, if you have a contact number; may be from your previous email correspondence with them. I went through an agency who have been very helpful and very rarely needed to contact sidra HR as they are usually very busy. As I said before, the process has been a protracted one for most of us so it does take time. Congrats Klaraleva on getting the visa & good luck with the move. Hi Abby86. congrats on getting provisional offer and wish you all the best with the process ahead. Hi drc. Yes, we have been thinking about all the isuues that you have mentioned. We both have stable jobs that we love and are quite settled in where we work. However, relocating to the Middle East was on the card for quite some time and after comparing different offers, sidra appeared to be the best of all. Researching different forums and a site visit has helped us to make the decision. Nonetheless, anxietis are still there about different issues that you highlighted, most importantly for chidren getting adjusted there especially in schools but like everything in life, we have to take risks! then hope & pray for the best. I will be happy to answer any of your questions that I can, if you wish.

Hi illyuk I was wondering if you managed to get a school place for your son. I am trying to get a place for DD in Year6/Grade5. She required support from SALT initially but has done very well since. A couple of schools have not accepted her on the basis of previous history though I have explained that she does not need any support now. Whereintheworld, will you mind sharing the details of the group that you mentioned, please. I have googled ync but couldn't get anything. Many thanks.

Thanks Bambii Your replies are always very helpful. Had spoken to schools during site visit and trying to confirm again. Might withdraw from the job offer as appears to be a big risk to take. Thanks for your time once again. Take care

Dear all Just a quick question please. Is it possible to rent out a property without Qatari ID? We have decided that DH and kids will move to Qatar in the next few weeks in order to start school ( have got places confirmed and initial fees paid for 2 high school children, applying for an yr 6 for the 3rd one), while I wait for my mobilisation process, have been reassured that this will happen by December this year! DH will do the visa run every 4 weeks till December. All seems very complicated but don't want to postpone it for 1 whole yr due to children's school issue. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi Elegance123. I have been following your journey silently as we share some common grounds and must say, I have found your questions/ posts greatly beneficial. We would also be staying at Al Rayyan Oasis when we [u'>[u'>Finally[/u'>[/u'> move to Doha from UK. Glad to hear that your move has taken place before Ramadan. Hope everything went well. How is your First Ramadan in Doha? I know it's very hot there but at least the days are shorter compared to our 19-20 hrs fasts in Scotland!we are coping ok with the fasts though, including our teenagers as their schools are off. Is their a mosque close to the Compound? we thought we saw one on our site visit in June.Do you like living there and are there many families now? I was also going to enquire about the segregated swimming on arrival to Doha; Thanks PWB78 for the info. Sorry for asking too many questions but it's nice to hear from families with a first hand experience; makes things much easier for us as we then know what to expect! Finally, how long did it take for your husband's work visa? I know it also depends on individual's circumstances & the timing of the year but our employer is the same so might give us a clue. Good luck with settling in and look forward to meeting up with you once we are there.

Hi OZ4 Just saw the answer to my question that I asked you in the other thread! That you are waiting for the visa; when did you apply? if you don't mind me asking. I've been informed by the recruitment agent that Sidra would try to expedite the visa if you have secured school places as it's not easy to do so and they want to get you there prior to the school start. Hope you hear the good news soon and start getting organized. @ Nona! congrats on getting through this major step and wish you a smooth process ahead. I am looking forward to meeting up with you all, hopefully in August/September.

Hi OZ4. Sorry for not updating the post earlier; had been thinking of this but been busy still with emails to schools etc. Thanks for asking. So the visit was a short, 4 days trip, tiring but very useful; greatly benefited from your tips and suggestions and those from the forum. Visited DBS & Sherborne; liked both schools and have places offered for 2 kids in DBS. Regarding the accommodation, I was mentally prepared for the AlRayyan Oasis prior to the visit at least for the first year or so - thanks to the detailed description by yourself & other forum members. I agree that the villas are not that spacious. We would be moving from a 4 bedroom house with a descent sized garden in the UK so the accommodation would be a bit smaller, we would specially miss our garden but then there is the advantage of the clubhouse with all the sports facilities and the swimming pool, all within walking distance. I am still waiting for the written job offer though and really hope to get it this week. DBS has asked us to pay the initial fees within a week or so, so need to see & agree on the job offer/package prior to accepting the school places. How far are you through the process? Is your 15 yrs old a boy or a girl, mine is a boy; it would be nice for them to have same age children on the compound, another advantage of the compound life, I think. @ Natalie; I would agree with OZ4; not sure about the criteria for the visit.Hope your process for the job offer has gone well. Please let me know if there is any query that I can help you with.

Hi OZ4 We are going for a site visit next week. Did you have a second stage interview when you went and how did you find it? Did you like Sidra accommodation and would you be staying there after relocation? I also have 4 children and not sure if the Sidra accommodation would be sufficient for us. Many thanks

Many thanks Kimmc3 & mrsw2 Not sure if anyone has done this before i.e getting their child into Yr 11 of IGCSEs from Scottish standards; otherwise DS would be put back one year; we think a regular tuition over this summer might help him to catch up. Thanks for your replies once again.

Thank you oz4 & JillMV for your replies. I am getting assessments for my 2 high school children at DBS shortly and hopefully a primary place for the 3rd one at Loyedence academy. But reading through the forum about the whole relocation process makes me worried whether we would be able to get there even by September for the children to start the new term, especially the high school ones. I read somewhere that the Supreme Council now does not allow children to start school after September. We would also not want to disturb them in yr 11 and 12 if they couldn't get a September start. I am awaiting confirmation of dates for the site visit; have put in a lot of energy & time & money in this process and don't really want to withdraw from it at this stage but looks like this dream might not become a reality...sigh..Would obviously do the descent thing and inform the schools on time if we did finally get school places but couldn't relocate on time. Many thanks for for all your support & taking the time to reply to my posts. God bless you all.

Hi Ladies Many thanks for the info. We are in the same boat. I am a UK based Obstetrician and considering a job at Sidra. I have 2 children in the secondary school and one in primary. Sidra is arranging a site visit and a tour of the schools for me & OH but I am wondering if there is any point in that if we are not able to get a school place for them with such a shortage of school places and long waiting lists. The recruitment agency has advised that Sidra has strong links with the schools but I am not sure if they would be able to provide reserved places for all their employee's children. Drc, did you get any further with the process, if you don't mind me asking, please. Oh, very stressful, already.
