Yes definitely get a 2nd opinion outside of uae; had a similar experience with Dr Marc Sinclair - he suggested very invasive innovative surgery for my son which, in the end turned out to be completely inappropriate. I ended up going back to uk to see a specialist there who was amazed that it was suggested - 2 years later my son is fine without any surgery.. I know lots of people rate him and I am sure he is excellent but personally I would never let anyone perform any kind of surgery here without a 2nd opinion. edited by Lulutrixibelle on 13/01/2015 edited by Lulutrixibelle on 13/01/2015

Thanks ladies. I have had a serious chat with her And threatened agency maid next month if things don't Improve, you are all right she is seriously taking advantage - I do however, need someone over summer for childcare And to start again would be challenging at this Moment in time. She is Philipina as actually quite a Sweet natured person but incredibly lazy. Has anyone Ever sent their made on a course to show them how to clean?

Hello - after some advice on my lazy maid. Have tried everything from Doing a schedule; daily, weekly and monthly jobs, to actually taking her around And showing her myself how to clean. She basically doesn't Listen and gives everything a quick clean with cold water, never moving Anything. She has ruined lots of clothes because she doesn't keep The iron clean etc... I could go on but you get the drift. We pay her Very well, kids are in school all day so no childcare and she gets 2 Days off at weekend. This week I have words with her and it's not improved. My kids Have been at home (as I work) and said she just sits and reads her Book all day (they are older so don't need a lot Of 1:1 care). Wanted to do a but of a clear out today of old toys books etc and the Filth behind doors, etc is embarassing. We have just paid for her visa And I need someone over the summer - husband suggested that We get someone else in to clean and tell her it will have to come Out of her salary - clearly money is the only thing that will motivate Her - thoughts?

I guess if they told you how long a waiting list is and where you are on it you would never apply and then they would never get to fill their greedy pockets!!! after this experience I only have respect for the schools who have a clear admissions policy and actually close waiting lists when they are too long. Several schools come to mind like DBS and Jess who told me the lists were closed and they did not want to take my money when I had no chance! It would be really interesting to know how many siblings and wonder years children took the places, they would have known this number when continuing to take applications from outsiders.

Gopies, just wondering - did you write to khda and if so what is their response? I don't mind paying application fees but feel we should get our assessment fees refunded when they are so blatantly over subscribed and they are the only ones charging it! Leaves a bad taste in your mouth don't you think?

I agree, it was the only school that charged us an assessment fee which is very greedy in my opinion - I guess they see it as a quick moneymaking excercise! To be honest, I didn't mind paying it at the time as my experience with the admissions lady was very positive - she seemed to understand my anxiety and almost looked embarrassed about having to ask for an assessment fee! Admissions can make or break a school and I certainly wouldn't pay it now after dealing with admissions recently.

Not mention ants!! We have just moved into our villa in jvt and have these little black ants, both my daughter and I gave been bitten and the pain is awful - 3 days on and there is still a swelling and it's very itchy. The chemist said he thinks they are samsan ants - a type of fire ant ugh!!

Hello ladies, this is my first post as I am fairly new to Dubai - this forum is excellent and you ladies so helpful! I have had my rejection letter but I applied very late in the day so wasn't really expecting to get in, the lovely lady who took us on the tour was very honest about wonder years and siblings getting priority and she could not guarantee that we would get a place, I have some friends who have had offers but they have siblings there already. It's a shame, I really loved the school, the principal is amazing and the lady who took us round was so enthusiastic and friendly but I think she has gone now and the person I dealt with this week was, shall we say 'direct', once I finally got through to her... Anyway we have another school place now and after my recent dealings with them I think we have made the right decision. Saying that, it is a new school and I hope it does well - The children seemed happy enough!
