We have decided to buy a house in the Surrey area to rent out with a view to living there when we relocate back home. Where would you recommend? We would like somewhere with good schools and prefer a town to a Village, ideally near a tube/train station not more than a 30 minute commute to London. Neither of us are from that area but we have been there many times and really like Kingston Upon Thames, but before we take the plunge...is there an area just as nice (where we can get more for our money) or is there somewhere even better? Many Thanks

Hi all, appreciate your concern for the dog..the reason I don't want her in the house is very simple. We have plenty of friends with dogs and as much as their house is clean you can never get rid of the dog smell and dog hairs. I like my house clean, tidy and fragrant. She is well looked after and receives plenty of attention from all family members. Her kennel is being built tomorrow and her AC is ready for installation.

Working for Emirates in the airport is generally not well paid and if they're offering her 5000 I would say that this is grade 4? It is very difficult to get promoted within this company especially for the lower grades, she could be stuck at the same grade for years. Benefits aren't great apart from tickets again especially for low grade employees. I would suggest she looks elsewhere to be honest...

Hi all, I wanted to enrol my son into DESS commencing FS2 in September next year...apparantly it's already full because of their new nursery...they said that there are only 37 places for FS1 and FS2 each year...does anyone know more or know if thats correct as it wasn't the case when I checked last year...if I can't get him into DESS I would be open to recommendations of other British Curriculum Schools in and around the Mirdiff area to secure a place at least for next year...thank you all x

Hi all, not sure what to do here so thought I'd ask for your opinions...Our Nanny was leaving us to go home in June. June arrived and she changed her mind, has decided to stay with us on the provision that she can take 6 weeks off commencing September. She is really good with our 2 children and has been within our family unit for the past 7 years and so obviously we were happy when she decided to stay...We have booked her ticket home but I am working full time up until October! Has anyone else been in this situation before, what do you do? Please don't recommend asking family for help, my mum has offered for 1 week and the MIL is unwell so not an option! I think my only option is to approach my work and explain the situation and hope they'll give me 6 weeks off, even if it's unpaid...thoughts please :-)

Sadly we are way behind here when it comes to part time & flexible working hours & time. But especially for new mother's, the maternity leave is shocking and then returning to work, doesn't leave many people much choice. This is where the UAE could learn a lot from the UK Yes I agree, my sister had her baby in the UK last September and I had mine in March...we are both due back to work at the same time...I have actually extended my maternity and now sitting at home on unpaid vacation!

Hi all, any advice/hints/tips on where I can find a part time job? I am currently on maternity leave from my current employer and due to return to work in August. HR have advised me that there are no part time opportunities available to me so I either return or resign! I really don't want to go back to work on a full time basis but would be happy to do something part time to keep my mind active...I have a degree in HR Business Management and 12 years aviation experience...thoughts, suggestions please? Thanks x Speaking from experience ( 8 years) in Dubai, part time roles rarely come up Have you checked the job forum on here? The schools are other places to look I have worked on 2 part time roles in 8 years. They are like unicorns! Good Luck Hey sarahlou, thanks...yeh I've been looking since feb but haven't found anything yet! It looks like I'm going to have to head back full time until I find something :-( edited by Mich1201 on 02/07/2014
