Thank you both. I know there are lots of good things about Dubai and most days I feel very grateful. I am just conscious that we are getting older and you only live once. I would love my kids to grow up near my family and friends and although a couple of years sounds a short time I know my husband he is very risk averse - it could easily be another 4 years!

We live in a 5 bed with pool in meadows. Currently the bill is around 3k. In the height of summer it will probably be 3.5k and in winter around 2-2.5k. This includes housing fee of around 1200.

How old are the kids? Yas is excellent for very young children, my 3 year old loved it. Older than about 5 and I would stick to Aquaventure.

Thanks everyone - good to know I am not alone! My DD1 has always been a fantastic sleeper so i didn't ever envisage having this problem. I cut the bottles down to 6 oz last night and she only needed 2 so a slight improvement! I think I will try the sippy cup tonight. She is a great eater and also really likes water during the day so I do think it's habit rather than out of any necessity. I would just really like to have a whole nights sleep - I have almost forgotten what it's like.

Thanks for the replies. It's not hot in her room, if anything I tend to have the AC on a bit cool. I really think it's just habit so I think she needs a bit of tough love. It's just so hard to do, she is such a determined baby and is so loud! Maybe tonight's the night!

Thanks - we had a good look round yesterday and the pool in springs 1 would actually be very close to the villa so I think we will take it.

She was my doctor for DD2 and I found her to be ok. It was a very straightforward delivery and she arrived only just before the baby popped out and all was fine. I didn't ever think she was 'great' but thought she was ok. However since then I went her for a smear test and some contraceptive advice and thought she was pretty poor. I would never have received the results of the smear test if I hadn't chased it up. I will not be going back again.

Mine is fantastic. She has been with us nearly 3 years, the whole time we have been in Dubai. I am sure she is one of the main reasons we enjoy living here so much.

I think that is outrageous! I have never heard of being charged extra for toner. I think you should make a formal complaint as that is a ridiculous amount of money especially as it wasn't clearly explained to you beforehand.

I would wait and keep checking. I had the same experience last year when booking flights from UK to Spain in August. I booked early thinking prices would only rise and when i looked a few months later in the sale they were much less. Difficult one though, if you want specific flights at specific times it may not be worth the risk!

We didn't go until about 4.30pm and it was very busy, no idea how quickly it gets that way. If you want to see Santa I suggest you go very early.

We did and were a bit disappointed to be honest. Very overcrowded and massive queues, especially for Santa's grotto (which we didn't bother with). The christmas lights turning on was somewhat overhyped and we were rather underwhelmed with the whole thing. We were there with 2 young children and not drinking though, may be different if you are getting stuck into the unlimited booze package for AED 160!

Hi Chippy, I also work part time and was advised by Clyde & Co when I was first employed (2 years ago) that I was still entitled to the 22 days holiday as the labour law does not recognise part time. This actually meant I ended up with 7 weeks holiday as I do 3 days a week. My company were not keen on this so I had to then negotiate with them and now get 6 weeks (still pretty good I thought!) HTH

We have just been through this process and found Standard Chartered and Barclays to have the best terms. Don't be afraid to be demanding though, if you don't like a specific clause or term ask them to change it - we found the banks to be quite flexible if they want your business.

My daughter goes there and loves it. She has been 3 days a week from 18 months (she is now just over 2) and we have been very impressed with everything.

Don't go near Venture Horizons - we are currently trying to purchase in the Meadows and they are a nightmare.

They definitely are. I checked on the ESPN middle east website before signing up. http://www.espn-mea.com/qa/esme/sports-on-espn/golf/

If you are with Du you can add ESPN for AED30 per month and they have the coverage of the masters. If you call them they add it pretty much instantly. We were equally dismayed to see Fox disappear overnight!
