Yes it is very unfair particularly given that several of us have tried continually over the years to do the right thing and sort this out and when there are some that don't have permission and did not get a fine or asked to remove it. There is absolutely no consistency as all sheds are different. They don't seemed to be worried about who they let in nor the boats and general mess around the place. Nobody will answer a call nor take responsibility. They literally have their heads in the sand.

Well after years of trying to sort this out I am no further advanced- Typical. When we moved in there was no DSO Authority to deal with. We had a shed, free standing and does not touch any walls so no damage to property. After a few years they came around and told us to take it down. We attempted to resolve this with them, by phone, visits to Headquarters and emails.Non of which resulted in anything. For years there was nothing and then 18months ago an EK Accom person and a DSO Engineer came to out Villa, inspected the shed, took photos and said it was OK. Then we were issues with the fine and told it had to go. Again weeks of emails, and phone calls, nobody wants to talk about it or take responsibility. They just hope you will go away. They are not consistent with the fines, some got them some did not, some with permission some not. They have even fined residents that have not lived in DSO for years, they said it was because you and a shed when you were a resident. Very frustrating and unnecessary and not a thing ail be done to try to resolve it. Good luck to those that got away with it and unfortunate for those that they are harassing. I am sure there would be more productive things to do than snoop around our Villas.

Don't laugh but Dragonmart. I got mine from there, 200AED. It is perfect just as good as Cara Jewellers, a friend paid 1200AED for the same thing. Good Luck

Hello Ladies, Just wondered if anyone can assist here. Dubai Silicon Oasis have fined some residents 3000AED for having a shed in their yard. It is not consistant as some got fines and others did not. The fines have been passed onto Emirates who will deduct this from the December pay. Firstly do DSO have the right to fine anyone? Are Emirates able to deduct this from your pay? Thanks Ladies

I haven given up and accepted that I will be bald soon. I have tried everything. It started off about 3 years ago when I noticed my hair was falling out and breaking off. Since then I have not coloured my hair and have spent a fortune on hair treatments, shampoos, conditioners, hair loss/ scalp treatments and have two filters on my shower . I have been to hair doctors and specialists, had blood tests and take the relevant supplements for hair. A saw the hair specialist who gave me scalp serum and lotions- thousands of dirhams later and I have less hair. He told me to go off my HRT which I did that made no difference either so what next- a wig I guess. Before I do I will try the olive oil as a last effort. Good luck to you all, hope you have success

Hi Ladies, I was hoping hat someone could point me in the right direction. I sent my dishwasher in for a service in the middle of August and still don't have it back. It was return to me scratched and dinted a week after I sent it off to them. When I went to use it there it would not work so I called them back. They took it away and then again returned it, this time it would not dry. I called them again and they collected it, that was at the end of August. They said that it is the electronic board that needs replacing. I have made so many calls to them and each time they tell me 10 days. Early December I was told 25 days. I called them last week, again 25 days. I told them to deliver my dishwasher back otherwise I would report them. They said, we will call you back, still waiting. My dishwasher only went on for a service, there was nothing wrong with it. Is there someone that I can report them to? I think that I have been very patient but 5 months is ridiculous.

Hi Ladies, This is a common problem here in Dubai. I have been loosing hair for a few years now, initially I thought that it was falling out but I now know it is falling out as well as breaking off. I have used very good products and this did not make alot of difference. I have had blood tests as well, all good. I have also taken Permplus tablets that were recommended by a hairdresser. When the problem started a few years back I blamed the hair colour but I have not coloured my hair for about 2 years now, I am dark but my hair is going lighter and lighter! I have the ends cut every 4 weeks.I also have the blu shower filter, makes no difference at all. I havde even trioed to wash my hair with bottled water, again no change. I googled -Washing your hair in desalinated water and I feel that this is 100% the reason, the images of hair are the same as mine and it does say that the additives in the water build up on the scalp and prevent new hair growth. I had a company come to my villa to test the water, Oh my goodnes, I was amazed at the result. I had them test the water from my shower and there was only a slight difference from that and the tap water. I am going to go with this water filer system ( I cannot remember the same off hand) as I spend a fortune on hair products now and there is no improvement,. A friend has this water filter and she said that she has noticed a difference in the short time she has had it.

I had a routine Mammogram at Wellwoman, I was called back by my Dr for an MRI. When the results came back I was scheduled an appointment that day with Dr Houriya, she referred me to Dr Alex. The same thing, I took the reports ect to City Hospital, paid the money and was told Dr Alex would look at them, from there I would be scheduled an appointment according to the urgency. They called me back with an appointment for the following week. I saw Dr Alex, I was totally blow away by this Dr, she is brilliant! Both Doctors are in fact. Dr Alex is one of those people who makes a lasting impression, beautiful inside and out and so good in this field. Go through the process and you will be seen if you need to be- Good Luck

I was recommended to En Vogue by a friend of mine who has been 3 times. I purchased the deal for a friend and myself and we were both extremely happy. Let me say that i am extremely fussy and for me to say that I was happy is a big statement! I have just bought another two. I was actually happier than I have been at salons paying 6 X the price. Although they are very busy they were organised, the staff are pleasant and again very very happy. Good Luck to those who have purchased vouchers, well worth the try or me.

I have tried, stretches, taping, physio, accupuncture, custom made innersteps, icing and ultrasound and I wear a night splint. I had a cortisone injection about 6 weeks ago and I was pain free but the last week the pain has returned. I am still using the night splint, icing stretching and Physio. Not sure wht else I can do now. Good Luck! Let me know if you find a miracle cure that I have not already tried.

Thanks Starsouthern. Maybe not the same school s there are more than 2 teachers leaving and the old head was fabulous. The issues are with the new head. Closed door with the new head so maybe finish my eldest there and consider options for the younger child.

Yes I agree that it is difficult but it is alarming when your childs education is suffering. There are lot of teachers leaving and it is very obvious that they have lost interest. You looked on the positive side that getting alot of interviews puts them in demand, I saw it as a tough field out there and they maybe were not so good as they were not getting any jobs in the UK or other O/S posts. Not sure where it is all heading, other than returning to our home country as changing schools is not so easy. Management problem- YES there is! A new head appointment this year is proving to be a disaster, very different to the former head.

It is not only Spinney's with prices that alter from store to store. I purchased a mop fro MOE and it was 10AED more expensive that MCC. When I asked why the price difference I was told that MOE is the most expensive in Dubai and that in fact all stores vary in price.

It is cheaper and easier to get in the Phillipines. You can get it at the airport but it is easier to get it before you fly out. My mais said that it was very easy to do, just need a copy of the sponsors passport and Visa page. I opted for this again as the POLO office is a nightmare.

Thank you for the replies. I cannot understand why service is so difficult, after a technical coming to my house 3 days running and was not able to fix it he then takes it to the workshop to be repaired. I call them everyday, Thursday was told "I am sorry it's a code 39!" I am expected to know what that is- the person to whom I was speaking had no idea either. He said that someone would call me back- still waiting. I just called them yet again and was told that the technician was on a day off and would call me tomorrow. I explained that I have been waiting for many calls to be returned and I asked to speak to the manager. After I spoke to him to let him know I was not happy with the product or the service he advised me that it would cost me 850Dirhams to be repaired, this was including a 200Dirham call out/service fee. So I am in a situation where I have to pay for the service fee in any case so I may as well get it fixed. Next time I definatly wont get a Fisher and Paykel! Service- there is none.

Hello Ladies, I need to have a fair bit of dental work done and not sure where to start. Firslty I would like to have my teeth bleached, I have some porcelin overlays which need to be replaced as well, I will get this done after the bleaching as I would like to match the colour as best I can. I then need some root canal done, this is most likely going to break the bridge so I will need that replaced as well. Any suggestions on the most reasonable place to have this done? Thanks
