Very happy indian parent at horizon with 2 kids in the school. The only difference in both schools acc to me are the fees and the fact that Dess is non profit whereas unfortunately horizon is run by an investment grp:( Both schools great in my opinion.

Hi, Im in the same situation. I dont understand what the schools are thinking when they propose such timings. For eg the first two weeks of school I have to drop DD at 7:30, then drop DS at 10:30, pick Ds at 1:00 and DD at 3:00! It is physically exhausting in this heat and traffic is insane, in fact was wondering if its just me, but seems all schools work along the same lines. Hope the KHDA or whoever sets the rules see how terribly inconvenient this is for parents, and nearly impossible for working parents.

Hi, Our school has male cleaners too and brought to the head teachers attention. The cleaners are still male but have not been around after that. I dont know why they are allowed to hire male cleaners in the first place. The security is also of concern to me as all parents drivers nannies etc walk in the gates freely at pick up, if anyone wants to do something horrid its so easy, u walk right into the school with no check...parents id shld be mandatory if required to enter school premise.parents wait in the heat outside the gates till the gate is opened, making no sense if no security once the gate is opened in my opinion. I have another question, would you be ok with a male teacher for early years? I have never dealt with this but a friend of mine has a male teacher for her DD year 1 and she isnt too pleased..what are your thoughts?

Londiamond, I couldnt agree more. Please dont get me wrong, Buckle up has done a great job in awareness and promoting good practices, however I have witnessed a nasty altercation in a school car park a while ago. It is one thing to promote and educate the public but another to put down people of certain nationalities. The volunteer was remarkably rude and nasty in her approach to a mother who had not buckled up her children. It seemed more like a fight between cultures ( one of course coming across as far superior) rather than a volunteer helping the public.

With two kids having been in FS1 in the past few years at two separate schools, I can definitely say that is not the norm. The school had an orientation with the teacher prior to school starting, allowing us to ask any questions we wanted about toilet training , playtime, snacks etc. Once school started, at pick up, the teacher chats with any mother who would like to have a word with her at length, never had an issue with "catching her", she was always available for any concerns. If you have the communication book, I would suggest you to write down that you would like to talk to her and raise this point as it is of genuine concern if there is minimal communication regarding your child who is so young.

I happen to have many Indians in DIA, all fairly treated and happy , so as a school policy its not what you may feel it is.They usually do not " guarantee " any seats in school after nursery as, they have other applications and siblings that they enroll as well.

Thank you! He was a good eater and sleeper both...hes eating better now, naps the same once mid afternoon 12-1:30 ish and is tired out by 7:30. Goes to bed with the bottle feed and sleeps well till about 1/2 am.I wanted to avoid the night feed habit so i would rock sing cradle and even tried the CIO ( i gave in after an hour of crying) .So one day a tried giving him another bottle when he stirred around 12, and it worked, he got up of course at 2, took him to our bed and slept through. I thought the ordeal was over! but the next day tried the exact same thing and he was up at 2:3o am fresh as a flower ready to play! Its so confusing and frustrating, my DH tells me to go to a doctor but Im not too sure they can help! I tried introducing another nap at 4, so he sleeps later by 9, thinking he would wake up later at night rather than 2, but it didnt work, he still woke up at 2 am:( Any suggestion with the nap routine? Thanks again ladies!

Some senior some mid level post and its a little specialized, so in our experience these candidates are best head hunted and we have a list of candidates/companies whom we wish to approach in a professional and organized manner.Any sort of classifieds will not help much unfortunately.

Personally I prefer both horizon or safa over jps hands down Safa though still in its initial setting up phase since its moved Horizon is very much established as far as reputation is concerned. It just appeals to a different set of parents maybe. It's smaller more personal and less flashy n part of the hyped up Varkey bandwagon. I am very happy with kids in both schools( safa n horizon) Great teachers great parents and great nurturing environment In my children's primitive years. According to my opinion academics plays a Secondary role in primary school years. I personally had a terrible experience With the admin staff n reception at jps. Maybe it's a good school etc but me and my Dh Preferred horizon safa over jps. Good luck!

I got through safa school and emirates intl .i presume safa is better but was just concerned about their " no assistance in bathroom ". Is this normal in all schools? Aren't they too young to be washing up themselves? And any feedback about safa ( though written aboit a lot) from recently joined mothers would be highly appreciated! And lastly how difficult is it to get into fs2 in safa and horizon? I would rather wait and let Dd br confident about the bathroom than stress her out now! TIA

It is not unusual for a child to make up stories at this age.my dd told her teacher I punch her like spiderman and I have never raised my voice or hand on her?! Her teacher assured me this was normal BUT I would use your child's description as a warning to keep your eyes open n cautious.
