Hi! Congrats on your pregnancy! I'm also 4 months along now :) This board used to be buzzing with activity but unfortunately has quietened down now. Still some searches will turn up results for doulas and reviews for Al Zahra hospital. I haven't had experience with hypnobrthing either. I had read hypnobrithing and natural birth books earlier for my first baby, but when I went into labour my daughters heartrate dropped very low and had to be monitored throughout, which meant I was strapped into the bed with a heartrate monitor on for the baby and couldnt move around - the exercises and tips I had learnt couldnt be used! There are a few threads on here about them though. As for the hospital, does your insurance cover American Hospital or City Hospital? They are known for great maternity care and their doctors are excellent. I'm seeing Dr. Raj at American Hospital and I'm super happy with her, and know many friends who have delivered with her and been happy. Dr Braithwaite is at the same hospital and also has great reviews. I would recommend seeing an in-house doctor than a clinic doctor for pregnancy - I heard a story from a friend who was seeing a clinic doctor for her pregnancy who delivered at Medcare, but when it came time for the delivery the doctor wasn't able to reach in time. The hospital was very confused about what to do and kept her waiting a long time. She said the doctor reached in just enough time to catch the baby's head basically, the rest was all done by midwives and she wasn't able to get epidural in time either. :( Sourskittleashnut, thank u so much for your lively answer :) Yes this doctor also delivers at Al Zahra. I have my 12 week scan due in a couple of days. Will start doing the rounds of diff hospitals and doctors soon. Unfortunately American hospital isn't covered in my insurance but City hospital is. I'm trying to get an appointment with Dr Britt Clauson soon. She comes highly recommended from this forum. Only downside is I live In Marina so there's always that risk of travelling the distance. If you hear of mire recommendations from Al Zahra, please let me know.

I have been seeing Dr Khaled Kouteich at Armada Medical Clinic JLT sine before I got pregnant. I got his recommendation from this forum. He is very gentle and positive in General. I'm 12 weeks pregnant now but I don't know anyone who has given birth with him. It is important for me that he is capable and pro-natural birth. Anyone with any reviews please?

Dear All, A bit of repetition from previous threads maybe but I am so new to being pregnant and knowing my options. I have a moderate fear of hospitals/medical procedures so the actual delivery is giving me the sweats at the moment. The majority of ladies share negative birth stories to add to it :s Your updates will be highly appreciated on: - [u'>Doulas[/u'> - recommendations and contacts please. How much do they cost? My mother will be around for the birth so are these professionals still worth their while? - [u'>Hypnobirthing[/u'> - experiences and recommendations of classes? - [u'>Ob/Gyn[/u'> - I am seeing Dr Khaled Kouteich at Armada Medical Centre at the moment, he is the most gentle and calm doctor I have found in Dubai till now. I do not know how it works to see someone in a clinic vs a hospital doctor - [u'>Hospita[/u'>l: The above doctor delivers at Al Zahra Dubai Hospital. Any experiences? Ideally I would like to experience a natural birth. It would be great if one could join a group discussing all these above topics and learning from the wisdom of experienced mothers around us :) Bump up

Kalkoula, try giving al burj medical centre a call.. they are just off sheikh zayed road and they have great deals. I have used them and highly recommend. Dear dindin, Thank you very much. Sorry just saw your message here today. Do you know if they have the Soprano Ice machine? I had that available in India so easily and so cheap, it might just be worth for me to visit Delhi every 2 months :) Best

Dear Ladies, Thanks for responding. I went through a smooth surgery with Dr Abhay, on the path of recovery now. He operated at Medcare Ortho and I have only positive things to say about him :)

Does anyone have experience with the above? I seem to have low ovulation levels (As measured by the ovulation kit only for one cycle). All hormone levels and thyroid levels are normal. Periods seem irregular, some docs tell me I have PCOS just on this. I want to find a good therapist to take my body towards better fitness and wellness, not just fertility but in general :)

I have been diagnosed with a meniscus tear as of last week after a painful month of limping around. I am a total chicken when it comes to any surgeries but have tried to make my peace with it with the hope of being fitter and stronger post surgery. Does anyone have experience with the above two doctors? I will really appreciate your response. Best

Has anyone from Dubai/GCC tried her online plan yet? I am contemplating taking the cheapest option with her team members - 2 months for AED 5,000. The results are tempting me as her philosophy is to eat right for life close to one's genes and culture. Will look fwd to hearing some recommendations though. Regards

True, but I am used to best quality at very reasonable prices from my home country which forces me to think that companies are just making money here in Dubai. Welcome recommendations in this area please. Thank you!

Hiii ladies, I am getting LHR done by them and so far very happy with the result. Voucher prices are really a bargain and its worth it. Only downside is, you need to book appointments really well in advance. ETA: getting laser done at Montreal clinic.....not the Dr.Rustam. edited by rose717 on 06/01/2015 \r\n\r\n Thanks a lot Rose717. I will go with the Groupon voucher on your advice. I visited the clinic and they seemed quite decent. The price is good with the vouchers. I might try one session and purchase another voucher so it lasts me almost upto a year. I understand about appointments, can be a pain but they are open until 8 on weekdays and Saturdays which is very helpful. The only downside at the moment is for me to go all the way from Marina to the clinic but that I can overlook. Thank you.

Will be following this thread. We're also redoing our kitchen and between granite and Quartz we've Almost settled for Quartz, the only reason being we want a plain white countertop! I'm also looking for reasonable and reliable supplier and installer. Kalkoul99- if you don't mind can you share with me the suppliers you've found? I ve found none till date and now slightly panicking Dear CG9, We have been looking at a lot of suppliers sporadically. I came across a few references here. Suggest you look at previous threads but beware they will cost upwards of 11,000 just for the worktop! We were looking at budget options and found Arabuild on SZR who were helpful but took too long. In the end, might end up with a Dragon Mart supplier. :sleepy: I am writing an informal blog about this whole process since it was hard for me to find this info. See if you find it useful - [url=www.dubaidoodles.blogspot.com'>link[/url'>

Great thanks. I'm not keen on the existing tops either! I'd really like a built in oven too, do they do that? Hi Bird, Who did you use as your contractor for the kitchen job? We need someone to coordinate the Ikea kitchen installation and tiling, countertop, plumbing, electricals etc etc.. Thanks a lot!

Kalkoul..wow is that 80-100 just to supervise the ikea kitchen fit out? Sounds excessive to me although i don't have a direct comparison as we are just using these individuals with dh supervising (lucky that he is able to at the moment) Our ikea designer offered contractor contacts if we were interested ...why don't u just go along to ikea, go through their process to see how much the actual kitchen would cost (you're only in for the 500 dh you pay them for measuring up...and then phone one of their contractors to see how much the rest of it might come to. Maybe you've already done the ikea bit..so ignore me in that case edited by nnair on 10/08/2014 Dear nnair, 80-100 was for everything but that is still a lot in my opinion. Sure, we have spent some time at Ikea informally and tried getting some names of contractors out but no luck. Did you deal with a specific designer while at Ikea? We were recommended Mr. Vinod but couldn't see him. Thanks a LOT for all your help.

We have just had our house renovated which included a small extension, new kitchen & bathrooms, flooring etc. We used a different chap who I bumped into in a tile shop! He was by far the best price, turned up on time (for 7 weeks) and has done a great job. I had to design all the tiling and sourced all the materials including tiles, bathrooms etc so it has been a full time job but I'm delighted with the outcome. If you put your email addresses up I'll email you his details but you are also welcome to look at whats he's done. I went for an ikea kitchen which Ikea fitted in under 2 days (excellent service), I've sourced the worktops separately and hoping they will be installed on Thursday. Hi Yolo! I am looking to do exactly the same as you did, I work full time though. Request if you could please share the details of your contractor at: [email protected] Thank you. Regards

Hi Kalkoul 99, sorry I don't have a kitchen contractor (gulp)..We just have a tiling guy and a plumbing guy from all the other renovation we have on at the moment. The tiling guy is helping us rip out the old kitchen and do granite counter once ikea has fitted the new kitchen in. Try Jason at big fit out who gets recommended a lot, or Merritt (contact info should be on EW) who a friend was very happy with. I would have liked to use them but they were fully booked until Sept so may be an option for you if you don't have to start right away. Good luck! Thanks nnair! How are you managing then? Are you lucky enough to be able to supervise the renovation yourself? Unfortunately, my husband and I are both working full time so wasn't sure if we could do this. It would be great to know if it is possible from your experience! We did get in touch with Merrit but the price went through the roof upto 80k-100k. The Big Fitout company only seems to be doing it in specific areas, which doesn't include Marina. Will be keen to know your kind feedback :) Regards

You could give ikea a go...basic but decent looking and ours is coming in at 15k. I decided to go with it after reading several positive comments on here Dear nnair, Didn't realise you had posted here already. We are happy to give Ikea a go but who are you getting for removing everything first? ALso we want to get our flooring and possibly the celining done together, any ideas of contractors who all of this? Regards

have a look at Nova Krishnan designs... she's a friend of the family and I am in absolute LOVE with her work... very intricate designs... and definitely more value for money than Ghunghat! :) plus the outfit will be tailor made for your body and size! :) [url= https://www.facebook.com/Novakrishnan'>link[/url'> she has a studio in Tecom all the best! :) and if Nova asks tell her you were referred by Christina... Thanks Horzonmum2, the designs look really lovely on the FB page. I will try finding about the price ranges. Let me know if you know more such individual designers here :) Regards!!

Try Ghungat - they have a tailor they use who is just around the corner from them. Even if you don't buy from them, ask them about the tailor - they did my wedding outfit and the tailoring was perfect. Thanks a lot mrs13b. Any other shops that you suggest for outfits too? You must have a lot of experience if you shopped for your wedding here :) Not so much, unfortunately - mr13b and I travel to Dubai a lot for hols/his work and Ghungat was a recommendation from a friend who spent a lot of money there! I think I just got lucky - the owner recommended a place for me to get bangles/costume jewellery etc from, and Cara made my wedding jewellery, so I managed to do all my wedding shopping in two days! Hoping to get better familiarised with Mena Bazaar when we move to Dubai in a few months. Dear mrs13b, Thank you very much for your response. Yes same here, Meena Bazzar is an unexplored part or the town for me too. I know it has immense potential but where to start is the question! Goodluck and thanks

Dear ladies, We are getting a new Ikea kitchen put in and I remember reading on here someone had a glass backsplash put in. I would love one of those ...just haven't seen any in the usual kitchen/tile shops. Where could I get me one of those please? Also any recommendations on where to source the granite top for the kitchen would be appreciated. Many thanks! Dear nnair, We are one step behind you- contacting contractors who would do a good and reasonable job of re-doing our kitchen. Could you please share details of your contractors? Thanks a lot.

There are a few places like Capella Club and TribeFit that offer morning workouts in that area, so does Real Pilates in JLT. Thank you pmd, I will be trying Capella Club soon with their Groupn vouchers. Tribefit and Fidelity fitness suggested here require expensive memberships to start sadly :(

Try SMART Fitness in JLT. They do stuff in the mornings too. Figure if 8 for ladies only at 6:30 plus Blueprint as well. Pretty friendly gym too. Thanks a lot SH12, that was very helpful, the 8 week programme is 24 classes, worth AED 2000. Will think about it :) A run on the Marina is a great idea ladies, I used to do it myself too but the heat really puts me off!!

Unfortunately, no. We had to organise for someone to come in and remove the old kitchen. DH sorted that out, as well as the granite countertop. I'm not sure which companies he used. The granite was charged based on measurements plus the cutting/labour/installation. We were given a whole range of prices depending on whether we wanted the inexpensive granite for a couple of thousand Dhs or the more costly ones that were Dhs 10,000+. I don't have any integrated appliances from IKEA. I used my existing appliances and they measured around those. Thanks for the details Rawla, would really appreciate knowing more details about who took out your previous kitchen and who fit your granite. Also has anyone got their flooring replaced at the same time? Looking for reasonable services to do that. Thank you edited by kalkoul99 on 31/07/2014
