There are a lot of qualified HR professionals with same experience as your husband still looking for jobs. The competition within HR is fierce these days. Most major HR roles are marked for emaritization, especially with multinationals. Am saying this based on my background. 1) I recommend broadening your search across various sectors: My initial mistake was limiting my job search in the Oil and Gas sector only. 2) HR can ask HR for help: I highly recommend him speaking to headhunters. In my early job search phase, i felt i knew it all because i work in HR. But letting a recruiter know what you want helps them in presenting your profile to their clients. Ask him to pick up the phone and speak to them. 3) Gather all contacts you have : Begin to correspond with your former contacts stating your intent, one might be able to recommend him for a job. This is what is working for me right now. 4) Be patient. This is my two cents worth of advice as a HR professional who has seen both sides of recruiting in Dubai. Wishing you and him the very best.

There are people with MBA's and various degrees who are already in Dubai and cant even find a job. Only way he would get a job is through a connection in HR if he is overseas. Well, it all comes down to luck dear. I met someone who was hired from Nigeria last week. Salary package and relocation payment is the Dubai dream criteria. And all interview as stated by him was done online and no one recommended him for the job. My advice try all routes advised and hope for the best.

Seemingly not happy with your responses ladies, it appears a moan in "7 Days" may get a reaction the lady would prefer: [url=http://7days.ae/only-quiet-babies-allowed-in-the-salon/66559 '>link[/url'> ;) Haha, i saw this on 7 days as well. The comment section jury all agreed "no babies in salons"

Hello, Below headhunters are majorly for HR roles. Michael Page - Very credible but you need to have loads of patience with them as they have a large database of candidates. Frazer Jones - Very friendly consultants, can't say on how effective they are in getting you a job. Robert Halfe: They recruit strictly for HR roles, can't rate them yet. And ask him to use LinkedIn well. The very best to both of you. Robert Half are not strictly HR - I work in Finance and they call me regularly I would recommend he asks his friends and acquaintances in Dubai if they know of anything - it is usually the quickest way to get a job Yeap you are correct, had another agency in mind, didn't realize i typed Robert Halfe.

LOL...i love his response, go tell LinkedIn to stop suggesting your profile to me. It's LinkedIn, it picks up your interests, location, industry, circles of friends, and other social media accounts you may have synced to present you new connections everyday. I had to remove all my accounts even Yahoo as at some point i had all LinkedIn contacts on Watsapp!! Am sure he's not stalking you probably curious, on LinkedIn people don't stalk, we call it networking. Any profile view is a potential employer or employee..Lol don't mind me please.

Have followed this post for while and really interested at what decision you will make. Am glad you decided to come.Look it may not be easy, but it will be worth it. See Dubai is a classroom, everyone learns. In two years what you may have lost in your career, you will make up for in experience. Your husband is Egyptian, he will adapt here fast. Learn Arabic for conversational purpose. So many Egyptian run companies here, infact it's a Kabaal. Am sure you will be placed in one. Just come with an open mind and after two years evaluate your move, if it's worth it, fine, if it's not, on to the next one. Implement a savings plan as soon as you land, don't be carried away by the glitz like most people do. Help him save. God bless

Of late the way a social media site has been posting articles supporting maids, makes them think they should be treated like demi gods. You left your family and knew you were coming to Dubai to work as a maid. Your employer too left family and friends to come make a living here as well. The pressure is on both sides. I understand some people have mistreated them, but what of the good ones? I should place a tiara on your head because you are my maid? Be careful the way you confront her, some of them are revengeful and may take it out on the kids. Screenshot her Facebook posts, seat her down and ask her if she has any problems, without referring to Facebook post, perhaps she will open up. If she doesn't confront her about it and make it clear you won't tolerate such. Especially talking to your kids about you. From then on never leave her entirely alone with your kids, till you find a permanent solution. By that i mean a replacement or see if you can manage without one. Cheers

Breaks my heart to read this. Thought "the internet warrior" thing was an adult thing. I agree with the screenshot thing. However i will not take any chances and wait for this to cool off. Please inform the school and the Dubai police. If this escalates beyond this, the police will blame you and this online community for not reporting this. Please read Seven days there is a story like this posted a while ago. Bullies at whatsoever age should not be tolerated.

People come and go. It's the Dubai expat life. But yes in the last year, we have seen more people go. Employment trends and oil price drop are major factors. Last year in the Oil & Gas sector, we were all reassigned back to our home countries, some went, others like me stayed back in Dubai. More so the government is really encouraging its citizens to take up jobs that would have been filled by expat skills. So need for our skills is dropping by the day. Coupled with the high rates, it might make sense to just relocate back home.:)

As an employee you have the right to know about these policies & manuals. On the first day of work, HR should hand these policies, manuals in printed materials ( at least where i work) to you. As this did not happen, why don't you call HR to send you a copy of your employment manual. So should there be any grey areas, you can ask for explanations beforehand and not embark on pay deductible leaves. Hope this helps.

I am so frustrated! 10 interviews, and either they don't come back to you ever, or jobs are going to someone else. What is it? Anyone else experience this? I have 15 years experience in HR in the UK & UAE& Qatar. Does anyone know whats going on? I have been looking for 1 year now! Thanks for listening to my rant.... Aww don't worry the right one will come. Am an HR professional too, let me chip in from my perspective. Work on your contacts, i mean try to identify who are the people giving out your desired job and befriend them. Forget these job boards, to me it's a waste of time. However check out the listings on the job board, get hold of the company name, go on LinkedIn follow the company and find out its HR team, now those are the people you want to talk to. Again, gather contacts, call people, float your resume to HR managers, follow up. One day they will find a job that suits your profile. I wish you the best.

Let me give you my 2 cents worth of advice. Have you been to ripe market? Does every vendor there have trade license? No. And that market is under the Sheikhs approval. What is the rational in getting a license for a business that has a net capital of less than 20k AED. That is why freelancers do business under an event management company, this covers the trade license issue. I get your pain, but if Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, cannot close China down for making replicas, then accept this competition. In reporting you might even put yourself in trouble, if they find out you have deviated from the activities you got the license for in the first place. Also you can never excel without competition.

I just have to say this, it's appalling how most of the ads posted BY house help,( some of them desperately in need of a job !) go on to shamelessly specify the nationality they want to work for... So they spell out 'Western'/' European' only.. And go on to name each and every nationality from that part of the globe, just there's no mistake! I had the misfortune of a few oblivious candidates call me, by mistake of course, as they didn't know I was from the same continent they come from, and hang up on me the minute I politely answered their " what nationality madam?" Query. This is blatant discrimination and after suffering this all of last year when looking for a house-help, I've just had it and wonder why the Expatwonan staff( who are otherwise adept in carefully screening ads here) , overlook this as if it's acceptable! Because when you allow such ads to go 'live ', the message you are giving is that it is OK to 'stereotype' people, it's OK to be racist, and discriminate ( or have preferences ) towards certain nationalities.. I know most of these 'job-seekers' come from humble backgrounds and might not even have had a proper education, to know better than to have such an attitude towards people , but you lot are educated , so ignoring such ads is condoning discrimination and highly irresponsible on your part.. I am INDIAN and our house help gets treated like a family member, with love, respect and consideration... But thanks to these Ads being encouraged here, we don't get a chance! It's as if only 'Europeans' and Westerners have the right to employ house help! Such a SHAME![/quote Well in this part of the world, this is how it works. And if you hear how some people treat maids, you won't blame them for asking for your nationality. After all, they have the right to choose whom to work for. From jobs, house rentals, people are allowed to mention what nationality they want. It's not EW only, that allows ads specifying nationalities. I have a friend who refused to join EW just cos they didn't mention her nationality..lol. A prospective employer downgraded my salary expectation by 7k after finding out what passport i held. I told them to hire me based on my knowledge. After two weeks, they sent an employment letter, giving me the exact salary i asked for. It was with joy and pride i penned my rejection letter to them, stating reasons why i won't be able to work with them. And after my experience in Dubai, honestly i have my right to choose who i can or can't work with. It's rather unfortunate, but society encourages it. P.S have seen Indian only ads. Welcome to the Gulf.

Did you get married in the UAE? Do you have any proof of abuse? If so, you have the upper hand right there. If you present the police report (obtained at any government hospital once they check your body for bruises and other evidence of violence) you have the right to open a case against him and have him thrown in jail immediately! I'm guessing that will definately = loss of power for him.. Nope, you might be wrong dear. Plus without the full picture, running to the courts might not be the best. From my experience so many factors come to play here, prenups, culture difference, ( if any), marriage laws. From what she has said, best advice will be to leave the marriage diplomatically. She may have all to lose or win,( she knows best her situation)
