Hi, I preferred Adams Care bec of their video. They explained that the competition makes only photo from outside, but never look actually in the duct (e.g. around a bend). Also my hubby loved them, since they are actually the only AC technicians (not cleaners) making this service they included a full AC service in the price and fixed "by the way" an issue with the AC, which saved us the money to order additional AC maintenance company. MY ADVICE: Call Adams Care for a free video inspection. After this, get proposals also from others in ;)

Adams Care give 30% discount? Great, I hope its still valid ! Last year, I called some companies. Convincing was Adams, bec they offered to look for free into a duct with a special video camera. I keep my house is always very clean, but inside the ducts it looked like desert! They even found some mold … They got the job. Done by very nice Filipinos with impressive machines. They left all clean and later a video of the ducts before and after – wow, sparkling clean! They were very into it to then spray into the ducts with a smoke machine. I think those boys love their job.

Hi, nowadays the manufacturers' workshop is best option. I agree that they are often far from good ... but its the lesser evil. A play station is a closer relative to modern cars than the good old VW beetle (I loved mine!) All others may be able to fix this and that (and maybe even better), but at the end of the day they dont have the resources and knowledge base. Therefore my advice: Go for whomsoever for all small repairs, spares, oil change, and body works, but everything what needs "analysis" or troubleshooting, esp electronics, go for Audi. Costly and not even good - but the best option. This is what I learned in 20 yrs VW driving ...

The article of Mr Proud is nothing to be proud of. Unfortunately we see it everywhere in the media: Self-declared experts, obtaining info from books (written by self-declared experts), looking TV, where (self-declared) experts are telling stories, ... sorry, but exaggerated few facts in order to "create" a public opinion could be called propaganda .... However, sadly they get it done that people listen to them instead of laughing at them.

Hi, I agree with Tru Blu. However, you should consider a few things, e.g. - Products locally produced or imported? If imported via Jabal Ali, this may influence the decision if FZ or local (DED) licence. - Storage? Depending on the product, you may store it even private. But if FZ, then you need to store it there - may cost a bit. - Customs. Only FZ will tell you reliable how it works and if YOU are responsible that tax/customs are paid or if the buyer has to do it - esp when they picking up the products inside JA. However, wish you luck with the business!

Hi, 1) Dubai is rather costly. If the package is good, you will have a great time. Many of your new friends will be on quite big salary ... you will see that they dont care about 500 Dhs here and there ... However, you are young and will like it, esp for a limited time, even on less money. 2) Generally, I would consider it a wise step to come to Dubai for 1 or 2 years, esp as long as you have no kids. It can promote your DH's career significantly, and also both of you will gain soft skills and life-experience. Therefore my advice: Dubai is waiting you. By the way ... there are quite many expats from UK in here...

Hi, Anybody knows for sure? As of my knowledge, it is not allowed to drive with "foreign" DL a car - except rental cars. BUT I dont know why ... 2 options: 1) T&C of car insurance - in this case, the police wont bother, but the insurance cover may be lost 2) Legally stipulated ... then the police could fine you However, friends of mine did drive with Western DL private cars and at least 2 hit a traffic control - and passed. Could be both, good will of police officers or the hint, that its just an insurance thing....

Hi, Im no pro in this, but my opinion: Chq you can either deposit in your account or withdraw in cash at the issuing bank. Simple reason: How could any other bank possibly ensure that the chq will not return? They cant give you money, before they are sure, that the chq will be cleared, e.g. they need to confirm the signature. Therefore they need to put it in the normal "clearing" process. Therefore I see 3 options: 1) Encash it at the issuing bank. 2) Most bigger banks have "local partner banks", which may do it against charge 3) Just open a savings account and deposit the Chq! Any local bank. If you are uncertain, I suggest the Noor Bank. They can open accounts very quickly.

Hi, With home DL drive only RENTAL CAR ! If rental comp accepts your papers, it shall be fine. Just provide them the docs and let them decide to give you a car - and you are insured. And as long as your visa is not stamped, also the police doesnt know it. For them you are visitor. Just be careful, that you dont drive a private car! Thats a bad idea with foreign DL.

Hi, As lovelylilies said: make it public, give them a "scene" ... e.g. by twitter. Aside this, I'd approach your bank for advise. Pls note that you may not find any credit on your account statement! They often just "delete" the old booking, so you will see it only by finding out that the old debit is disappeared ...

The answer is very simple: The contract is signed by 2 parties. Obviously, no party can make after signature any changes without collecting approval from other party. Means: Whatever they want to change: It must be mutually agreed. Pls note: The contract, which is submitted to MoL prevails!

Hi, I cant give a qualified opinion, nor review. However, always when I walk by, I find their "health and safety" measures quite scary. The surrounding partition/enclosure wall sits on bars, which are very inviting for injuries (no proper cover, leave alone cushioning). They just cut the "fake grass" that it matches ... but the wooden corners are visible. This indicates to me a general problem with "awareness". No good advertising, at all, esp since it is like this since they opened.

Hi, I was with Daman for 2 years under companies' policy. No reason to complaint. Also Re-imbursement, where applicable, worked quite quick.

Hi, just my opinion: 1) to be on the safe side, chck if there is anything filed against you. Also any lawyer can chck this. 2) Generally, the issue are usually no civil cases but criminal ones, means bounced chqs, esp any "security chqs" provided to the bank. Liable (for private chqs) is the signatory, who signed. So, if you were signatory on your husbands account and chqs, signed by you, bounced, then YOU are in trouble, not even the account holder 3) If there are civil cases, you find out via lawyer 4) All above sees you as signatory of the account. It has nothing to do with being his spouse. As of my experience, UAE does not apply "Family Liability".

Hi, I see 3 different versions: 1) REPAIR / MAINTENANCE. If there are repairs like "civil works" (tiling, ...) or similar to do and its exceeding AED 500: Landlords' responsibility 2) UPGRADES. If you want to make it more nice, you will have to pay. BUT: e.g. putting tiles, partition walls,... needs approval by landlord. possibly by developer (if applicable) Pls note: If its a real upgrade, I would still try to convince the landlord, that you add "value" to the property and try to make him pay a fair share 3) PLANTS/GARDENING: I guess, this will be your responsibility

Hi, as of my knowledge, banks are not allowed to provide a current account to "visitors", but only residents. OPTION 1: Savings Account - this they can do officially. They wont give chq book on it. ATM card and online banking may be provided OPTION 2: Talk, talk, talk ... make up a story ... visa under progress, etc... may work. But sooner or later the bank will start requesting visa page. Means: suitable only, if you will get sooner or later residence visa (and E-ID)

Hi, as machch suggested: In summer is the "cold" tab hot, and the "hot" tab cold (if you keep the heater off) Bottom line: In summer RED = COLD, BLUE = HOT The "cold" water comes usually from the roof, outside or from maintenance room. Accordingly it is hot. The "hot" water comes from the water heater in your ceiling. Accordingly, if you keep the heater off, it has room temperature, which feels as shower or bath quite cold. The water from heater shall be enough to take 2-3 cold showers .... then it takes a few hours until the new water from outside cools down. Wish you a refreshing shower ...

Hi, Is it common to charge extra for insurance? I thought that companies should have such insurance in place - not only for the customer, but to protect themselves ...

Sky Clinic, having branches in Bur Juman Office Tower + JLT Y cluster (swiss tower) I had with them root canal *4 last week ... surprisingly no pain after (I was waiting for the pain, panadol handy ... but no pain came ;)) ... also all smaller fixings were good. Fancy clinics, excellent staff ... accordingly not cheap, but, in my opinion, worth the money

Hi, How I do it ... annoying and takes some time, but very helpful to have already in the first weeks in the new house a nice home ... 1) A thorough inspection to find major issues (paint, broken tiles, ..) as well as all the little things (re-aligning cabinet doors, ....). It sums up quickly to >500 ... so the landlord may pay the full package and you got ALL done, even the little things .. 2) Insist on proper (!) Maintenance service AFTER DEWA is reconnected, not only for AC, but also plumbing - some leakages may come up, once the pressure is on .... Also the pool - without prior maintenance I would not use it ... 3) Pest control. The little ******** maybe found a cosy place to wait the next occupants (cockroaches + bedbugs!) 4) Chck for MOLD ! Always a challenge to convince a landlord to pay mold removal, e.g. inside AC ducts!. This is what we found last time - unfortunately AFTER moving in ... lucky us that our maintenance company offers free inspection by video camera of the full duct length - so we had a "nasty" video recording to "discuss" with the landlord. At the end he paid for it (good will)... since I have Asthma a very relevant point... Cost to tenant, once moved in: 1) as comp99 mentioned, any blg maintenance <AED500 (standard tenancy agreement) 2) Cleaning, pestcontrol, gardening, if not included in the maintenance contract with any company 4) Any services, which are not "technical required", eg proper AC cleaning and any kind of disinfection. I believe most companies "clean" the filters only - with plain water

Just a thought (without guarantee that its a good one): Maybe approach the local GOETHE INSTITUT. They may not only offer courses, but also provide some advise about living / studying in Germany.

Hi, one important point you mentioned already ... insurance. Whomever you inquire, ask him to submit the insurance cert along with proposal! When we moved last time, they destroyed an item, which was 10 times the price of the moving ... all we could do was to not pay them - the rest of the damage is our problem ... Pls note that at peak times, most companies are subcontracting or using part-timers .... very often unskilled ... and pretty careless
