Thanks a lot ladies, obviously as parents we want the best for our kids. But if there are diseases which have been eradicated, then why the need for some vaccins? After all you are introducing a virus in the first place...which itself could trigger the disease.. Thanks again.

Yesterday itself I saw a mid-aged house maid cleaning a car. It doesn't feel right and, like you said, is heart breaking. I guess the best that people can do is to treat them with all the respect and give them the recognition that they deserve. take care xxx

Thanks heaps ladies, really appreciate your support and referrals. I was really affected by this event and the worst was the breach of trust. I guess the postpartum depression and anxiety made things worst. I still do believe that there are good practitioners out there, but i'm only too scared to see them now (even medical doctors !!). All I can say is to look out for sign of scams. Here's also what I found while doing my small research. Obviously there is something wrong here ! pls check all the links, you'll be amused ! http://skinnymeinuae.com/ http://twinhillsweightloss.com/ http://www.weightlossnowcalgary.com/ http://getslimrochester.com/home.html http://www.wausauweightloss.com/ http://www.physicalmedicinebrookhaven.com/weight-loss-2/ http://www.ultimate1weightloss.com/ http://middleislandweightloss.com/ I can't believe how shallow these people are. Since when do chiropractors advise on diets?? i thought this was what nutritionists do ! And how can you lose 20 kgs in a month without exercising or dieting?? looks very fishy to me !! :\:

Hello there, Delivery packages are more for people who do not have insurance cover. For the mediclinics (Welcare, etc) 20,000 dhs is more than enough, even for the c-section. I think you should be fine. Check with your insurance if they cover for NICU (Neo-natal intensive care unit) just to be on the safe side. You don't know what can happen and NICU bills can be quite hefty. If you are not going to deliver with the doctor who followed you, be sure that you get all the medical records which you need to send to the hospital. They need to know all your medical history (and your baby's). On the day of the delivery, ask you hubby to have all the docs ready to give to the midwife (even if the hospital already have them). All the best

You can check with Emirates Sky cargo. http://www.skycargo.com/english/products-and-services/live-animals-pets/ I always feel sorry for the pets, they can be really stressed out by the noise, heat, etc.

It can be really hard living as an expat. You can be the loneliest person in the world, recently i delivered a baby and this keeps me busy. If you don't keep yourself busy, it'll be hard on you. For me, I've been here a bit over a year and still getting used to it... Take care, as your social circle grows, you'll be ok.

Hello Sophie, thanks a lot. I would like to highlight that I'm talking about medical doctors and chiropractors (also called doctors of chiropractics). Chiros are given the title by courtesy, and they cannot prescribe medication. There is fundamental difference between a real medical doctor's training (based on proven science) and chiropractic training (mostly based on pseudoscience !) The basic principle of chiropractic is based on subulaxation, which has never been proven. The founder of chiropractic himself was a .... magnetic healer. If you've been to a Chiropractor before, please share your experience (how often do you see them? were you on some treatment plan?Did they ask you to come the next day after your first visit? how much it costs?, etc...). Thanks heaps.

I am sorry to hear about your very bad and expensive experience. Could you name the chiropractor as I am looking for one and will avoid him at all costs! With thanks! Hello Fiona, i'm sorry, but i guess naming and shaming is against the UAE law. Try a real doctor instead, and just like someone mentioned up, there are also bad apples in this group. Take good care, be cautious for signs of scam.

Sadly, some "real" doctors are just as bad as dodgy chiropractors, there's good and not so good in all professions. 110% agree!!

After my misadventure, i was told that i could have gone to an osteopath. I read a little about them and they have the same training as a regular MD.In the US, they are also licensed to make prescriptions, and some continue to study further to become surgeons, etc. All the very best, take care.

I had a really bad experience with a chiropractor in Dubai and would like to share my story. Sorry for the long post, but research is a must before you go to a chiropractor (read about chiropractic abuse). There are certainly decent chiropractors who want to help, but watch out for the obvious signs of fraud. You are very vulnerable when you reach out to a medical professional. A couple of months ago, I delivered a baby. But soon after, I started feeling sharp pains in my knees. I couldn't bend them and every morning I would wake up by the pain. I went to one of those villa-clinics on Al Wasl road to see a Chiropractor. I was desperate and was looking for some serious help. The guy presented himself well and started the most amazing talk on his ability to heal me and this gave me hope. I was sent to do couple of x-rays of my knees, spine and neck. I was referred to a place (on Al Wasl road) for the x-rays. The next day, we went back to the 'clinic' and the guy emphasised that he treated similar cases and presented us with a 'treatment plan'. It was ridiculously expensive! A 3 months treatment 'package' was costing me 18,000 dhs - this meant 500 dhs per session x 3 times a week over 3 months. After a kind 'discount' of 10% it came down a bit. Little did I know that I was made to sign and make the advance payment, this tied me up to his 'treatment'. We went religiously to all the sessions for the 1st month. It was difficult as I had my little one (I breastfeed !), but keeping the thought that things would get better, we continued the treatment. During the sessions, we would be shown videos on the miracles of chiropractic healing ! along with testimonies of his previous patients, all this to get our trust. The chiro would do manipulations on my spine and my head, but nothing on my knees. He would tell us that everything is related to the spine, kept saying that he was UK trained (Wales) and had very good experience on the subject. I was made to believe that I had a slip disc which normally requires surgery, but which could be fixed through chiropractic adjustments. I had a c-section during my delivery and with the manipulation, I developed other pains. I was bleeding at times due to the pressure of the adjustments on my belly. My hubby kept telling me that he was treating everything, except my knees ! Even though I had doubts about the treatment, I kept going because I was desperate for a cure. After a month, my knees kept on paining - the pain was worst ! and now, it started swelling really bad. I was told that it was normal, there would be flare-ups and that I had to continue the treatment. I couldn't take it anymore I went to see a specialist knee surgeon. I went to the boldest guy so that I would get to get a honest opinion. I was shocked to learn that there was water accumulation in my knees and a simple procedure would take it out - which I did. This is a known issue with pregnant women and was easily fixed. Obviously the Chiro did not know the subject, but kept me in his trust and binded me with his treatment plan. The surgeon told me that the neck and knees are not related whatsoever. I felt cheated, not only did I spend a lot of money (not covered by insurance !) but mainly that I put my trust in a 'medical practitioner' but the chiro knowingly abused it in every possible way. When you go to a doctor, you put your most precious health in their hands, but sadly some people abuse it. You wouldn't know it, most people don't know much about medical problems and their complexity. Since this episode, I still suffer from occasional strong migranes. I started documenting myself on chiropractic practice, thing which I should have done well before. I was unpleasantly surprised to see that there’s a lot on wrong doings, scams, frauds from Chiropractors. They will pretend to heal anything and will tell you that everything is related to the spine. A Doctor of Chiropractic is not a real doctor. Their training is vastly inferior to medical doctors, and a lot is based on un-proven sciences, even to the point of including pseudosciences. It was surprising to see the common fraudulous techniques that most chiropractors use around the world. I experienced them first hand! They pretend to heal everything ! They will find problems where none exists and convince you that you are sick. They make you take a lot of unnecessary x-rays. They bind you through long treatment plans. They use very convincing words. They will charge excessively for their services. I learnt the hard way that Chiropractors can't heal much. They do heal lower back musculoskeletal issues, but no more than that. They will sell you what you don't need (and what also they don't understand!). A lot of damage can be caused by chiropractic, some people have died through the manipulation (strokes can and have occurred). The pop sound that you hear during adjustments is not something getting back in place - but gases being released from synovial fluids. They make you believe otherwise! they rely a lot on the placebo effect. I also found out that the x-ray centre where I was referred to, sponsors chiropractic events in Dubai ! They go hand in hand ! I feel really sick thinking about the breach of trust. I don't want anybody to go through this torment. I stopped seeing the Chiro, didn't get my health back nor my money ! I talked to the chiro about the fraud, he did not take responsibility for it. I sought legal advice, but was told that it would be difficult to prove malpractice. This is how they get away with it… I am so angry at myself for not having done my research before going to a chiro.
