I'm in Al Barsha South (Dubai Science Park) My neighbour has had a few cleaning companies come, pretty sure helping.ae and maids.ae she uses Groupon vouchers to book. I recently had a guy come I didn't get his name but his whatsapp...he cleaned 2 bedroom apartment including balcony and windows for 140aed and was here for 4 hours. He did a very thorough job and I'd get him in again.

Ladies, how does it work? My mum's coming for Christmas (Canada) can she extend her 30 day entry visa while in the country or does she have to exit? Can she also apply for a 90 day visa before coming in? TIA If Canadians have the same rules as Australians - I did a border run today and did not have to exit for 24hours. Gotours website usually have the most up to date information as it is their source of income. I have used them before for visa runs, this time I went on my own to 'Border Crossing and Passport Check Post - Oman' if you put that into maps it will come up - you can park at the UAE checkpoint and walk to the Oman checkpoint (not even 100m away). HTH providing they don't change the rules again - but check with the Gotours website closer to the date.

This is the most recent information that I can find on the new visa rules. We also know someone who received a big fine upon his exit. http://www.propartnergroup.com/category/blog/ Always check information. I've been going with go tours (visa run company). They counter the information this blog posted. You do not need to stay out for 24 hours. http://www.gotoursdubai.com

Hi, I go to The White Room in Motorcity. Esmerti is awesome, I had never had a brazilian done before and she was so nice and it was bearable. I used to go to the brow bar in sephora at Festival city but I asked Esmerti to do my brows (first time to thread as well) and they are now a much better shape. They offer discounts if you prepay. Pay for 3 waxing get the 4th free, also have points tally when you reach 2000aed (i think by memory) spend in a year you get 15% discount on everything for life. Brazilian is about 105aed and threading eyebrow is about 45aed.

I was recommended by some Emirates flight attendants (who like to look good) to go to Rena at Fabianas hair and beauty near financial centre. I bit the bullet and finally got my hair cut for the first time in Dubai by Rena and she did an awesome job. 200aed pretty good price and dare I say I like the cut almost better than my hairdresser back in Australia that I had for over 3 years.

I recently got 3 different sized frames done by Hammad Co in Karama. Really good price (330aed for 4) lots of frames to choose from. Went there after an internet search for recommendations.

Congratulations, very exciting. At my work (I work at a school) there is a lovely man (Ahmad) who has been photographing for many years and owns his own photography company. He also does the school photographs and is now making our videos. I emailed him your post and asked if he was interested or could help. He said he would be more than happy for you to email him and he can send you a quote proposal. Website: http://ajjamta39.wixsite.com/ajsart Email: [email protected] Good luck. S.

Jetstar is like any other low cost carrier. You pay for the flight and then you pay for all the extras (seat selection, check-in baggage, meals etc). They can sometimes be strict on the size and weight of your carry on but sometimes they don't check this.

Something that is practical and won't just get put on a shelf or in a box. Movie voucher, stationery, gift voucher for bookstore, pamper pack (bath salts, body lotion, mug, tea/coffee, biscuits/snack, feel good book/voucher), salon voucher, brunch/restaurant voucher, something that will remind teacher of your child to add a personal touch.

I went on visa run today. I found out you cannot do visa run before the 30 days, must be 30th day or after but within 10 day grace period without getting an overstay fine.

Yes to 10 day grace period but they count the day you enter as 1. Oman border fine. I have been with a company go tours who pick you up and tell you what to do when. It's easy it goes through hatta.

I loved Thailand especially Chiang Mai. If you see something in Chiang Mai buy it. I found prices were alot cheaper in Chiang Mai than Bangkok and Phuket (didn't go to Krabi so not sure there), and the stall owners in Phuket were not willing to match the prices, I guess they know they will sell them to other people. If you haven't been to Thailand before and you like tea, go to the Tea Plantation in Chiang Mai some lovely tea to be bought. Have a great time.

Thank you so much for all your helpful tips! I booked an appointment at the wedding shop for Saturday and will keep you updated. Regards, Jen How did you go, did you find your perfect dress, or still need to look more? My friend ended up going to a seamstress and is getting hers made.

The best thing to do is go and try dresses on. I went to the wedding shop today and the dresses my friend tried on we're all beautiful, light and beachy feel but she didn't like any. Everyone has different tastes, best to go look. Good luck.

I am heading to The Wedding Shop tomorrow with my neighbour who is getting married on a beach next month. I will reply back with what its like. Their website looks promising - http://theweddingshop.ae/ Not sure how you feel about buying online but a friend of mine bought a simple/plainer looking wedding dress from jjshouse and it was great quality, I also had a friend buy 2 formal dresses from lightinthebox which again were awesome quality. I almost bought my wedding dress from lightinthebox as I figured if it comes and its bad I haven't spent a fortune on it. The delivery was to Australia I'm not sure if they deliver here. Another option is to go to a tailor and take a few pictures of what you want, there are quite a few threads recommending tailors if you use the search function.

Hi ladies, I've recently moved to Dubai and looking to meet other ladies around 25-35 (kids / no kids / working / not working ) I enjoy going for a drink or lunch / shopping / beach / movies etc.. I did go to the coffee meet up but like I've read in other threads most of the ladies had groups that they stuck with and although everyone I met was lovely most of them had children that were my age, so we didn't really have too much in common. Are there any other meet up groups that I can go to that I meet people around my age group? Yeah there is a website called Meetups, which I am guilty of being a member of for about 2 years and yet to make it to an event on there  I am 30, work, married, no kids, from the UK and would be keen to meet, it is quite hard to arrange over here when you can't put up personal information! I keep saying I will make the Expat Woman evening event as I cant make the coffee mornings, maybe I will try the next one they hold! Hey Gev, Not sure how we can arrange to get in contact as you work and can't go to the coffee mornings and I won't be in Dubai for the next evening EW event either. BUT I would like to get in contact with you. Hmmm whats a womens meetup group you are in? Maybe I can join the same one and send you a message there? S.

Hi Ladies, Sharing personal information such as phone numbers, emails and social media accounts is prohibited on our forum. As part of our effort to connect expats together, we offer coffee mornings a few times a month. Please check the website below for a location and time near you. We would love to see you there :)! http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_events_whats_on.aspx EW Admin Hi Admin, I have sent an email asking why we cannot share these details if we decide we want to? Hi Riss, I am also new to Dubai, I'm 31, Australian, no kids, engaged. I enjoy going for coffee/drinks/lunch/dinner etc hehe this feels like a dating website thing. I'd be happy to meet to see if we share some similar interests. I've been to a few coffee meetings and have also met some lovely people, it is hard to make a connection though, so I understand that. I found though at the evening one there are more people in that age bracket you mention, but it is only once a month (I've only been to 1 so far). I joined on meetup as well and as Chrissy says you can choose the groups of interest. There are plenty of women ones too. S. Hi Miss_s, It does feel like dating haha! Are you working? When are you available for a meet up? Do you live in the marina area? I tried to search your FB and no luck.. You can search for me under Faulkner - wearing a grey dress! I will look up the meet up page! Thanks :) its a shame we can't just message people on here, but anyway. S

I recently went on a safari it was the Platinum Heritage company Camel Safari. Now I'm not sure about your parents being able to get on a camel how hard it would be for them? but I'm sure if you emailed them they would have options suitable. This safari had drive to desert, traditional headwear and pictures, camel ride for 45mins (I'm sure there would be one you could go in the car with the guide) falcon show, drive (gentle unless you in jeeps) to camp. Dinner was good they cook onsite, lentil soup, entree of salad, samosa and some fried lamb thing, main was BBQ chicken on skewer, tender lamb meat, 2 types of rice dish, camel meat and harees, fruit and traditional donuts for dessert. It was relaxing and enjoyable they had henna tattoo, male dancers, female dancer, shisha. You can read reviews on trip advisor and email the company but I'd go on another one of their tours, they even dropped us off at our apartment which is not on the pick up list. They took some pictures throughout not bad we bought 10 pictures for 100dirham. No I don't work for them but I would highly recommend. I chose their tour due to reviews on trip advisor.

Pprune, read it but take it with a grain of salt everyone has different experiences and expectations. It's like TripAdvisor you might read a bad review but you had a great time there or vice versa. Re: Accommodation take the provided accom, as once you opt out you can't opt back in (well so we've been informed). Once you're here and settled you can then take your time to figure out if you want to move or stay and where you might like to live. Re: roster, I've heard several times from different people they are looking for 400 more FOs if this is true you can interpret this as until they meet that quota current staff will be flogged in hours, which matches the other comment saying you could be living like a single mum. S P.s. I'm a newbie WAG of Emirates 777 FO who started in December, no kids early 30 age bracket, the info provided above may not be accurate.

Hey Megan, Hope you are looking forward to your move. I am moving to Dubai sometime between March and June depending on home stuff. I'm 31yo F Australian. I don't want to violate any of the forum rules but if once we are both in Dubai we can organise to go to the same meet-up that is advertised on this site, not sure how others meet up outside of these events. Although I am not single I won't know anyone except my partner and the next door neighbour (also female and 31) who is his training partner. Offers there, good luck. S :-) Hi S Thanks for your reply, have been a bit busy over the silly season! That sounds like a really great idea! I am waiting on a contract to come through so hopefully will know by the end of Feb if/when I will defiantly be heading over :) Will keep in contact! Im going to Dubai this week, am so excited will be there for 2 months. Looks like I'll be moving in June I need to come back home for uni placements then I'll move over. It's hard not knowing the exact details sometimes, hope they come sooner rather than later for you. S.

Thanks for the responses. So much conflicting information on the Internet so it's always helpful to ask others. I read in plenty of sites you have to exit UAE for 30 days to reenter. Glad to know it's not the case. S

Hi all, I am coming to Dubai this week and I have searched and searched now hoping someone might be able to help me here. I know that being from Australia I can enter the UAE with a 30 day on arrival visa. I have also read that I can extend this for an extra 30 days at an extra charge (which I had planned to do). How do I do this extension, when would I do this (straight away or closer to the end of my 1st 30 days) and where do I go? Help appreciated. S.

Hi, My partner interviewed early October, found out early-mid November and was on a flight to Dubai 3rd December. FO on the 777. It's only the 2 of us though and we were living in a fully furnished apartment so no household furniture for us to relocate, but if we had to it would've been up to myself and friends to organise after he left due to the timeframe. I believe you can ask for the start date to be delayed but he will have to check. At his interview they took a tour of some of the schools and some of the housing options (apartments and villas). Good luck to the both of you.
